I would have kept peraza in the lineup and set Soler or moncada
I prefer Strickland over Anderson
Actually if not bringing up someone other than Strickland I would have left urena. I don’t remember Anderson ever being good
Anderson does NOT belong on a major league roster.
Congratulations to Robert Stephenson, this year’s winner of the Tony RenDone award. See ya down the road.
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Well, we scored nine runs, so there is that.
Lineup today
It was probably planned anyway with the day game after night game. But I’m glad to see O’Hoppe ride the bench. He needs a mental reset. It was inning over after that Correa roller with the game tied.
I didn’t have any issue with Suzuki sticking with Urena. Season is young and this is how your young pitchers get experience and grow. Maybe there is an argument for not putting back Urena in the sixth after he barely escaped the fifth, and seeing he has no control. But the argument for that is that all the runs scored were with two outs, the inning was almost over a lot of times. Urena had to essentially get six outs in one inning.
I put the blame more on O’Hoppe. He is now a semi-veteran catcher at this point and it was on him to lead Urena. There was no need to chase after that Correa slow roller. Let Urena get it and get the force out at home. It was bases loaded, that was the easiest out. What was he thinking trying to get the out at first?
Other than that, offense looked good and still consistent. Good to see bombs from Soler and Nolan. That bases loaded hit from Trout was great. Reid looked good, but need to find a way to pitch deeper into games.
Logan is broken. Don’t know if there’s a fix.
What’s the lineup like today. Do we have Frazier darnaud and candelario playing and sit Soler moncada and O’Hoppe
It is a typical white flag line up that includes Soler playing defense.
Oh shit! Soler is playing in Right Field? I’ll cue up Yakkety Sax. 🫣
Adell is also in CF. Today’s game must be an exhibition. We can’t chase wins everyday.
O’Sloppe the error machine better tighten up his defense and learn to throw to his target.
Ha ha. I think you came up with a good one golf !!
O’Sloppe.
Oh so sloppy !
When you make not one, but 2 horrible throws to first, nowhere near where he should be putting the throw, that is just sloppy and rushing the throw. I can expect that in Littke League and the High School levels, but not in the MLB
“We will win some games”
O’Hoppe has absolutely stunnnnnnk so far
He’s been so bad.
He lost his mojo last year and still hasn’t found it
I did not like the Suzuki hire when it happened. I like it MUCH less after 3 games.
Out of his depth.
It’s 3 games. Let’s give him until memorial day before we crucify him.
Why? He mismanaged the pen day 1. Got lucky.
Then completely crapped the bed day 3.
Started Logan all three games when he was clearly struggling.
Left a rookie arm in to implode on the road.
Looked afraid to do his job.
Weak.
O’Hoppe looks bad…
He’s 2 and 1. I didn’t love all of the decisions, but he gets credit for winning two straight on the road also.
Imagine thinking a manager on a 1 year deal has any impact on this roster
The 1 year deal is all about the lockout coming next year.
BOTG:
1. Suzuki
2. Urena
Imo, Suzuki trying to instill confidence. Kinda reminded me of early Scioscia. Urena has definitely not been good, but kinda unlucky no…?
I think he pulls him early and tells the kid great job would instill better confidence. I was dumbfounded. I loved him pulling Detmers – not worrying about getting him a W. Then the next inning and I kept waiting. I said, that’s got to be it too many times. (But I get what he was trying to do)
I agree, but I prefer a manager to let young talented arm to figure it out. It’s not like he was terrible. Lots of soft contact. Bigger issue is Detmers for me. He’s not a starter.
He’s absolutely a starter. Has been HIS WHOLE LIFE. His stuff plays as a starter. What are you talking about?
To watch that and say Detmers is the problem is to see 9/11 and think we need to invade Iraq.
Lol. We taking back to Iraq? He throws too many pitches. He can’t get through five with a 6 run lead.
Yeah. He throws too many pitches. But his stuff plays as a starter. He is wasted as a 1 inning BP guy on this team. We are going nowhere. Let him cook and see if he can handle starting.
Seems to me he can.
Mostly.
After a throwing error, single, wild pitch, and a walk in the 6th inning, Urena should have been pulled.
Who would you have brought in?
Suter to face Yordan.
Next question?
Yes, Suzuki really screwed up yesterday after doing well in the first two games. His true self will emerge quickly. The good news was removed from the 26 man before he can do any more damage.
Agree. Walbert actually has really good stuff. But he’s young. He did make a bad throw which really started that big inning, so it was self-inflicted. And of course there will be growing pains with young pitchers/players. But agree that there was more than a little bad luck there.
1) Suzuki

2) Ureña
Fixed that for ya.
Can’t believe nobody has mentioned Moncada. That was a boneheaded play. We were lucky no more damage came immediately after.
Did Suzuki have money on the Astros?
I’ll take 2/3 all day, every day.
Except there is still one more game. One VERY important game. A loss tomorrow would really dampen the weekend, only taking a split after being up 2-0 in series and then 6-0 in third game.
Quite an important game tomorrow.
Probably the least important game of the year.
Course correction appreciated. I’ve been mostly checked out on baseball (and ball sports in genera) so I didn’t realize this was a 4 game set.
To your point, I’ll still be “happy” with a split against Houston – our nemesis for the past decade.
I’m also not going to indulge the b*tch made hysterics that Suzuki is the worst thing since brain cancer. We’re 3 games in, relax.
Mostly, I’m happy
to see Michael Nelson Trout look like Michael Nelson Trout.
Let’s grab tomorrow.
Also, the UFC scorched tonight.
Yeah, I mean it is just crazy to crucify a manager after three games. Especially when he has a winning record ! Yesterday was how shall we say, “unfortunate.”
I think our bullpen is a work in progress and frankly one of the areas I am really worried about. Unlike last season when going in the starters were my big concern, this year it is the pen. I mean, Joyce can’t get healthy, Stephenson likewise and a bunch of other guys we dont know about. It may take Kurt a few weeks to figure this out. I just hope we don’t see 4-5 blown saves over that period.
First brutal loss…im sure there will be many more. BUT, kinda unlucky in the big inning with the swinging bunts. AND they showed some balls in coming back. Interested to see how they come out tomorrow after a nut kicking.
First avoidable loss.
Blowing a 6 run lead suboptimal.
