The 2025 Angels are a lot like a sparring partner for high level fighters. The sparring partner is a professional but not on the championship level and is there pretty much to take a beating so the real contenders can get ready for bigger and better things.
Usually there isn’t actual physical pain involved in baseball, but tonight Jose Soriano took a solid shot to the ribs that knocked him out of the game. I’ve been dropped by a good body shot before and give Jose props for staying on his feet and walking off the field.
Every cough will hurt for a bit. So will getting out of bed. Even turning over in your sleep isn’t fun.
The physical pain was followed by the usual scoreboard pain. Conor Brogdon came in and allowed 5 runs to score with 3 of them charged to Soriano, adding insult to injury.
5-0 after 2 innings was about all she wrote for the Angels.
Taylor Ward had himself a game with 2 home runs. He reached the 100 RBI milestone on the second dinger.
Milwaukee added a 6th run in the bottom of the 6th inning and took a 6-2 lead. Mills Lane would’ve called the game there but baseball doesn’t allow it. Jose Urena ran out of gas in the 8th inning and allowed another 3 runs to push the final score to 9-2.
The Angels will try to avoid a sweep tomorrow at 4:40.
