1. Dana is barely a prospect anymore, he fell out of the top 100 and he’s dropped his rank in our own farm system. You’ve already seen he has no out pitch. Future Jack K at this point.
2. Klassen has mostly been terrible and will get shelled.
3. Aldegheri will have to be a Tyler Anderson to survive.
4. Let Rada finish 2025 in a happy spot and compete next spring
5. Christian Moore was drafted to be around Ron Washington (Perry’s own words ) so there’s no point in having him up . The mistake was drafting him in the first place but Perry’s GM scouting is turning in the TV during the CWS.
I agree that Klassen’s overall record is uninspiring, but he’s pitched better recently and seems to have recovered nicely from taking a line drive to the head earlier in the season.
I still think Klassen will make a very good leverage reliever.
He’s had 22 starts this season, and has only completed six innings in three of them. His pitch inefficiency and wildness are persistent challenges that might be tough to overcome for someone who takes the ball every five days that you want to try to go 6+ inning.
His last two outings are representative – they have been among his best this season, but even in those – one run across 11 IP – he walked seven, hit a batter. But in each case, he struck out 3-4 batters across the first two innings, and kept them scoreless.
So: seems like a great 7th/8th inning guy if he just lays it all out.
The only true prospects in the org are Rada, Alvarez, Davalillio, J. Lugo, TGA. We’ll see those guys long after Perry is gone just like Ward, Adell et. all
Obviously Dana has had a disappointing season, but calling him a non-prospect seems a little emotional. He’s 21 (the same age as Bremner) and has a 60-grade slider. His control has been problematic this year, so maybe they’re working on a fourth pitch or refining his off-speed stuff. People with a lot more baseball smarts than you or me still consider him a mid-rotation prospect.
Rough looking lineup. Neto, Trout & Adell must carry the freight today.
As for Christian Moore, did we really burn his “rookie” season this year? I didn’t think he’d enough plate appearances. Yes, poor decision by Perry. Moore clearly isn’t ready anyway.
A bit disappointed that Rada wasn’t called up to play today. The thought of Rada & Teo roaming the OF, along with an under appreciated (IMO) Jo Adell in RF, would be fun to watch.
As I predicted yesterday, the Angels have called up Chris Taylor over Nelson Rada today, as the rosters expand. In the same spirit, Moore was sent down to give 31 year old Scott Kingery some at bats.
For all the talk about youth…
Moore was long overdue to he sent down IMO but, the Chris Taylor thing is a bit ridiculous.
I expected Chris Taylor to be back up because of positional flexibility and the fact he can still field if not hit. Kingery is a bit of a head-scratcher to me. Maybe this is Perry showing potential veteran signees that he will give them a chance to play. I can’t think of a reason to bring Kingery up instead of say Guzman otherwise.
Protecting Moore’s rookie status and the slim chance he could win the award next year.I think it’s that simple and the fact he has not performed all that well, made it easy for them.
Oh shit, if Moore was on the active roster for 45-days, he’s no longer considered a rookie. He’s definitely under the AB threshold. Moore was injured quite a bit so not sure where he stacks up.
I don’t think it matters to be honest, don’t see a path to win the award this early in his development.
The lost opportunity was not playing him or playing him inconsistently while he was on the active roster, and his rookie status elapsed (it did so five days ago).
Bitch about bringin’ em up too early… bitch about bringin’ em up too late. The bitching endures.
And here you are bitching about bitching – really the worst in the taxonomy of bitching – the dreaded meta-bitch.
But it’s misdirected – I’ve been a proponent of a Rada September call-up for weeks.
And if the team is going to call up their top prospect, they should play him. Is that a tough point to absorb?
But… I thought the Halos messed up Jo by giving him 150 MLB ABs as a 21-year-old? Rada just turned 20!
He just turned 20. I’d like to see him in Anaheim, too. But it’s not like anything is at stake right now.
What does the one have to do with the other? Each prospect case is unique. You freaked out once when I said the Angels have a poor history of developing position players post-Trout (not a particularly controversial observation), and still seem to be holding a grudge about it.
But if you actually agree with me on Rada, why the need to carp about it? Seems your grudge is getting in the way of you joining the conversation freely and agreeing where you actually agree. Instead it’s a lot of petty attacks on other posters here.
Maybe you’re simply in the wrong community. Bitching and going against the tide has long been a feature of this site since we founded it, and was a hallmark of the previous site that we kept alive here. Complain and suggest alternatives – it’s why I suggested the name Crashing the Pearly Gates. Because folks are free to be loudmouthed party crashers here, and can complain about the shitty food and crap management openly. As long as they try to offer solutions along the way.
Instead of seeing what one of our pitchers on the Farm can do, Minasian wastes an opportunity on Urena. Minasian is a failure on so many levels as Arturo’s intern/errand boy.
Who exactly do you want to give the opportunity to? Mitch Farris is the young pitcher filling 1/2 of the open rotation spots.
Detmers isn’t stretched out. Dana nor Klassen are deserving. Mederos is hurt. Kochanowicz got his chances and blew it. Aldegheri is the only plausible choice and I assume he’ll get called up when he has enough days of rest days between starts.
If you want to complain about something actually worth it, go with optioning CMo down to AAA after burning his rookie status for 2026. Perry screwed that one up.
The Ward injury is tough to gauge. On one hand I always thought that outfield is an absolute circus shit show and begging for guys to get hurt. On the other hand Ward has ZERO awareness out there. He routinely makes the easy plays look hard. I’m not surprised he had no idea a metal scoreboard was an inch from his face before hitting it. In the end sucks he got hurt
