Today, did Kyle Hendricks get any run support? No. Not so much. Sorry! I don’t have much in the way of highlights today.
In the second inning, Luis Robert Jr. singled. Colson Montgomery sent him to third with a fly ball out. Kyle Teel singled to drive him home. 1-0 White Sox. So far the Angels did quite a bit of striking out. Three of the first six batters struck and nobody reached base safely.
For the bottom of the third inning, the Angels started mixing in some ground outs to keep everybody on their toes.
Zach Neto singled his second time up. Woo Hoo! He received a couple of pickoff attempts and was awarded second base on a disengagement violation. Nolan Schanuel walked. Taylor Ward chipped in the Angels’ fifth strikeout. Jo Adell lined out. Yoan Moncade contributed the sixth strikeout.
Luis Rengifo walked to become the only Angel to reach base in the bottom of the fifth inning.
In came Ryan Zeferjah to replace Kyle Hendricks. He was effective in the sixth, bring the Angels back up still down 1-0. They stayed that way.
Brock Burke came in to pitch the top of the seventh inning. He was all right. The score remained 1-0 White Sox. Jo Adell got us up to our eighth strikeout. There was a pitching change and then Oswald Peraza pinch hit for Yoan Moncada. He grounded out to short. Did Montgomery just throw in the towel? Logan O’Hoppe struck out to end the inning.
Reid Detmers in the eighth! He got through it without giving up a run. I’ve got nothing bad to say about the bullpen tonight. About the hitting: None in the bottom of the eighth.
Carson Fulmer came in to pitch in the non-save situation. He low-key non-saved it, bringing the Angels up in the bottom of the ninth still down 1-0. Neto ground out; Schanuel line out; and Ward Fly out. The Angels lost 1-0.

The game in Bristol would be 10x better if there was a NASCAR race going on at the same time
Schanny vs Busch in 2025
Schanny 9 hrs 45 RBIs
Busch 16 hrs 61; RBIs
💩😡🫠😤
The OLD RICH GUY struck again. Every time you get closer too getting competitive he pulls the rug out from underneath us (draft under slot, cut funding) we can be and should be a better version of the T-Rays, Guardians, and Brewers. 9 and 10 straight losing seasons in the nation’s second largest TV market is totally unacceptable…
Seems likely Nelson Rada will debut at Salt Lake City today… youngest player in AAA this season at 19-years-old.
Let’s see if Jo stays in RF, if he does with BT in center the rest of the year, CF in Anaheim next year is there for Rada to take it.
But…but…but I thought!!
The kids were awesome..ask Jack Frost We swept the Dodgers and took a recent home series from the Yankees.
In brighter news…
Dylan Jordan and Ubaldo Soto had very impressive debuts in the California League last night. IE suddenly has a sexy roster.

Rangy young OF Hayden Alzarez he-of-the.330 also had his first single-A at bat… walked in a run.
Or walked, and sacrificed-in-a-run more likely.
I watched the wrong game last night.
Get in for today is the lowest in the majors… $5. The Pirates vs Rockies get in is twice that.
Just wait for summer to be over – we will be seeing $1 tickets again.
In other news – nice meeting serval of you at the meet up last night! Definitely made up for the game being such a downer.
Looking forward to the next one!
Yes, it was great meeting everyone and seeing Jeff Joiner again. And the cameo appearance from Lana!
Moniak was no great shakes but he would have been better than most of our RFs this year and would have cost a lot less than Soler.
But we passed on Harrison Bader who’s a Phillie now for about the same money as Soler
He’s having a better year than Soler this year, but he’s only had 1 decent year in his entire career, 2021. Without hindsight, there is no way we should have signed Bader. Solar was a poor fit for us because he can’t play defense and we had to count on Trout staying on the field. It was a big risk and came to fruition.
…and I think (?) we elected to roll with Tim Anderson for a roster spot.
TA ended up with a better season than some of our other IFs by bWAR, like Newman and Gif
What’s really astounding this season was Perry’s short-sightedness re: Mike Trout. He essentially traded for a DH because he was counting on a fully healthy season for Trout, despite his recent history. He also didn’t factor in that even if in the event Trout would be semi-healthy, that he would need the DH position more this season.
Then, making matters worse, he jettisoned Moniak because he believed Paris was enough. Moniak is no HOF’er but I do think he didn’t get a fair shake in Washington’s first year here.
So instead of a Ward-Moniak-Adell OF now that Trout will be entrenched in the DH position soon, we have Ward-PickANameInTheHat-Adell in the OF. Perry’s brilliant mind, ladies and gentlemen.
Drat. Woke up to see the score and our hit total hadn’t changed. We’re done now. It’ll take 85 wins to get WC3. We’d have to finish 32-19 but if we can’t even beat the White Sox…..
Not only that but, Taylor Ward has 2 RBI and 3 hits in last 7 games. Are you sure he’ll get to 100?
The team will win some games – especially when it no longer matters. They always do. However, when playing at home, sweeping a team playing .370 ball is expected.
If you were paying attention and not peering through a hopium-induced delusion, it was obvious that after Perry’s impotence was on full display at the deadline the team would shrink against a team they should dominate.
So embrace this. Wallow in it like a pig in fresh crap. Perry’s your daddy and will make all your boo-boos feel better.
Baseball Prospectus Playoff Odds: 0.6%
Fangraphs Playoff Odds: 1.2%
Might as well count this game as a no-hitter since that single hit didn’t even leave the infield
Pathetic
But hey at least we didn’t hurt Taylor Ward’s feelings
Or Kenley’s!
We are wasting Kyle Hendricks!
We didn’t expect much from ’25, we got better than ’24. Of course, there was a low bar, but still.
Couldn’t we have become betterish by selling our free agents that had decent offers?
The last time the Angels had a winning August was 2017.
The last time they had a winning August AND September was 2014.
WHY DIDN’T THEY SELL?!?!!?!
The problem with selling is that you need someone who wants:
Rengifo (with a (-) WAR),
Taylor (despite his 25 HRs, often times stands and watches 3 strikes with RISP)
Moncada (injured too often)
Kenley (a liability with man on base, because the opponents can steal at will)
Anderson (who wants to take on the rest of this year’s $13M contract, for a pitcher who’s 2-7, with 4.49 ERA, who can’t get past 6 innings)
etc, etc.
If I were the GM, I sure as heck don’t want any of the above, unless I could give them a sack of beans in trades.
Excellent points!
Exactly.
plus, even if another club wanted them, they need to make an offer at least approaching fair value.
Rengifo and Anderson should have been dealt last year when they had better performance stats & an additional year of contract control. The assets depreciated substantially. Not hard to see how this would be the case.
The lack of a coherent plan is smothering this decade.
“Woulda, coulda, shoulda” defines the Perry Minisan era with the Angels.
Giffy got hurt wrist right at the deadline last year. Made it tough to move him.
True, Three days after the deadline, August 3rd, he went on the 10-day but as a GM, you should have a pulse on which players you don’t consider key future assets.. Rengifo is 100% that guy. Come July 1st, GM should start cultivating some perspective deals. Don’t wait for offers or you don’t have to wait until the 31st to pull the trigger.
Unfortunately Perry wanted them all enough to sign ‘em to contracts
I disagree. There are only 11 LFs out of 30 in MLB who have a higher OPS than Taylor Ward. There are definitely teams that could have used him. Jansen, I believe, has had 14 consecutive appearances without giving up a run. Rengifo, has been hitting much better lately and has value as a utility player for a number of playoff teams. Anderson, has not pitched as well this year as last, but he is a league average pitcher who has value for a team that needs that until a better pitcher returns from the IL. I have no idea what we could have gotten but we also could have packaged Adell and Detmers to get back better talent. Now, we will get nothing when our expiring contracts leave. Also, I don’t understand how some people, Not necessarily you, say that Jansen has no value but we should re-sign him next year. The White Sox will be better again before we are because they have been off loading their veterans and getting younger and cheaper, like we should be doing.
TrAdition. Shitting the bed AFTER the trade deadline. #theAngelsWay
Gee, who would have thought that bringing on Oswald Peraza and actually pinch hitting him, would lead to failure. Ugggh. Perry, you may have figured out a way to make this team even worse than it was without improving the minors. That feat of imbecility is breath taking.
His value is defensively, using him as a pinch hitter is idiotic just like DHing Campero, who isn’t valuable as a hitter or a defender. We have zero depth.
