Angels won 4-1.
This was basically the Mike Trout show. Here was Mike Trout driving in two to put the Angels up two zip in the first inning.
A Houston fan stripped the ball out of Mike Trout’s glove in the second inning. The umpires saw it a different way. Luckily the Astros were unable to cash in that runner that they should never have had.
Nolan Schanuel hit a 383 foot solo homer in the fourth inning to put the Angels up 3-0. It was his first homer of the season.
Taylor Ward hit a solo homer in the top of the fifth inning to make it 4-0 Angels. Suck ass fans and umpires are not enough to keep the 2025 Angels down. Gotta do better than that.
Tyler Anderson had a no-hitter going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Yordan Alvarez broke it up with a double.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Isaac Paredes homered off of Ryan Zeferjahn to make it 4-1 Angels.
Kyrene Paris stole a base in the top of the ninth inning. It did not lead to a run. Kenley Jansen came in to save the 4-1 game. He allowed a hit to Jeremy Pena. Other than he closed it out without any further runs by the Astros. Angels won 4-1.
The fan interference play last night is an early indicator that things might actually be different this season.
trAdition states that Diaz should have hit a home run after that play but this season the ball don’t lie, and it was an easy fly out.
The rule should be rewritten that once a ball is in the stands, it’s a free for all to attempt to catch it. However, once a player catches a ball as Trout did, it’s hands off. It’s dangerous to the player to allow that sort of aggressive physical contact.
Agree. The fan can dislocate a player’s arm or shoulder if you allow that kind of stuff. Yes, if it is in the stands the fan/s have a right to go for it, but ripping it out of a closed glove like that guy did (and it took alot of effort to do so) is another matter.
I’m sure that’s already the case . Why else did those Bronx idiots get banned for life after trying to rip Mookies arm off ?
The problem is that the actions taken by teams and stadium personnel are not logical and consistent based on the rule/s and what happened. The guy was apparently kicked out yesterday, and yet the play on the field was “foul ball.” One would think that the umpires would need to determine that it was an out, signaling that the fan went overboard etc. In that case you then could kick him out. But why boot him for something that was essentially allowed on the field?
The League needs to let teams know that the actions they take must be consistent with the rulings. Otherwise it makes no sense at all.
I had the same thought last night! It’s so egregious that the guy gets booted from the game but it was also definitely not reviewable and definitely just a standard foul ball?
100% agree. Its ridiculous that wasn’t ruled a catch. It was in his glove for a significant amount of time.
Wait, they won? I thought Anderson was getting blown up today being a soft thrower & all.
Another series, another chance to win it. This is fun.
Man. Pathetic. Time after time, win after win after win. So horrible. So much gross in game decisioning and line up pencils. Most worst wins I have ever seen. Such organized jokes. Dumb Wash. Stupid Perry. Let me list all the reasons we will fail….
Idk about you guys, but I think we should end the season today.
We won some games.
I get taking care of the Kid but why reward the Jack Ass Dad?
Once again though glad to know that Sam the Hat is on the scene to the most pressing story of the game.

Yeah, the dad’s response after realizing he was caught did seem more than a little disingenuous to me…
I for one am gonna be pissed about this for years.
The dad seemed genuinely remorseful to me. He was telling him sorry as it was happening. And even started giving the ball back…
I don’t know. I think MNT is classy beyond belief, and I think that dad felt bad.
Plus, the ball was basically in his lap. He shouldn’t have touched it. Very different than the Yankee thing in the WS.
He DIDN’t give the ball back though. He sat there with the ball in his hand and he had the opportunity to put it back in Trout’s glove, and yet he didn’t do it. It is one thing to aggressively go for the ball, and quite another to reach into Trout’s glove and rip it out with both hands. Then to top it off have a look of “Why are you looking at me? What did I do ??”
That’s how I interpreted it as well. I think he got caught up in the moment and it didn’t initially strike him that he had crossed a line. He seemed more star struck than apathetic or entitled.
And then once he came back to earth a little bit I thought he seemed genuinely remorseful.
I can only assume Mike must have felt the same way if he took the time to meet with them after the game.
It could also be that when Mike saw the guy had a kid and that the ball would/could have gone to him he felt bad for the kid, not the dad. He did give the kid a signed bat and ball after all.
We know this about Mike; he is very generous with stuff like that. He recently bought boxes of sports cards for a whole room full of people at a collectors shop he was visiting. Whatever the case, we know Mike is a cool dude, a chill dude. It would not be out of character for him to forgive and forget.
Agree 1000% about Trout . ( it still pisses me off about Manfraud’s comments) But the Dad definitely pulled the ball out of Mikey’s glove and then realized what he had done afterwards . Hopefully the kid knows better. (not “The Kiiiid” we know he knows better)
Paris continues to impress, I really like attitude on the field, focused.
1st in the west! 3rd in runs scored in the AL and 4th worst in runs allowed
Now, beat the Asstros tomorrow and take another series!
Go Halos!!
BTW, just when you think the Asstros couldn’t create another ugly uniform, they surprise everyone.
I don’t mind it but I’m not one of the guys who likes the Angels ice cream vendor looking city connects…..
I think the new fits are pretty, pretty, pretty clean.
It’s pretty sad…. there are some God awful city connect uniforms. Ours is pretty great by comparison. I dunno. Are they a hit with the “kids” or “the demographic” cause some of these jersey’s I just NEVER see out in the wild like I do the Nationals and Rockies CCs.
I actually loved their old Space City uniforms if I’m being honest. Among my favorite of all the CC unis.
I realize that’s not a popular opinion but I this is a safe space, right?
Even the best team in baseball gives up 14+ runs every once in a while.
Even the best team in baseball’s AAA minor league affiliate gives up 20 runs from time to time (well at least this one does)….. https://www.milb.com/gameday/aces-vs-bees/2025/04/12/779726/final/box
KKKKavadas with a HR….. maybe he can pitch next time?
But you know ,if you are team that gives up 16+ runs and gets shutout you are a big time LOSER.

Ha! 38 total bases, 21 hits, 4/HR’s!
Eat it doyers!
Would/Could have been 20-0…Doyers brought back a Grand Slam for the final out of the inning.
Obviously. Paris is MVP and Doyers are doomed.
Paris rides his very own donkey?
He rides a joyous joyous donkey
I think they gave up 16 … And lost 16-0. 😉
I took a nap. I’m Old Eric. Good to see we won in a quality way, the way (gasp) good teams do.
We are now 7-4 on the road. We can look at this as a 9 game road trip but because of some peculiar scheduling it’s almost a 15 game trip with just the one home series as part of our first 18. And now we know we’re not only surviving this curious schedule, we’re thriving on it.
They were talking about Trout signing autographs before every game and I was thinking that I take for granted what a great dude that he is. Just saw this:

As much as his son will remember this, I bet this will be Dad’s biggest sports memory.
When Trout was in second or third year we went to a game and ended up having a conversation with a long time stadium usher. He stated that he had seen many players come and go with many doing the “right things”. He said the difference with MNT was there was no pretense or posing for the cameras as he was the real deal.
He is just a good human and that is what the world needs.
100%
Trout is such a wonderful role model. I feel like I have taken his career for granted. Need to appreciate him more.
Always great to be the Astros.
Let’s get the series win tomorrow.
Right on, good sh_t. Positive vibes on the home front, tickets for upcoming games not in the bargain bin. You have winner, or play well, THEY WILL COME. See you CTPG folks at Star Wars wknd!!
I have to disagree on this one. I Never want to be the Astros Jeff
Relatively stress free. Weird
Is it a requirement to have a double chin to sit in right field?
If that picture doesn’t go viral social media is broken.
The guy made a good move actually. Saved his team an out.
Much better than the Yankee fans last year. Those two knuckleheads actually high fived each other after they mugged Betts.
The Angels won the first series in Houston last year, 2-1. They then went 1-2, 0-3 and 1-3 to finish 4-9. I am hoping for better this year.
You need to channel your inner Scioscia, you’re looking too far ahead.
The BA isn’t there (Yes…) but Trout is driving in runs at a high rate thus far.
BA meant something else in the 70s.
Probably.
Still, I miss the the era of seeing more dudes hit over .300.
By the end of the season, there are typically only 8-10 guys in the entire league over .300.
Get oft my lawn.
I meant bare ass. Sorry. 🤣
I was like “what the hell is BA except someone dropping their drawers?”
Luckily they stopped calling it “batting javerage” in the 1890s
But yet, there’s a restaurant called BJ’s
And a team called the anAels
A constant reminder that it is possible to have a pretty meh BJ.
I’m with you. I miss tte contact game.
Epic fight night tonight. Boots vs Stanionis and a quality UFC card.
Yah. UFC card was big fun
He also has 8 walks. He’s seeing the ball relatively well, and not forcing the issue. Like that 2-run single. Instead of hacking, he shortened up his swing and settled for the cheap hit. More like that and his BA will eventually go up, and so those delicious RBIs.
His BABIP is so so low right now. The hits will come.
That was a big boy win. Usually after a loss like last night’s, this team rolls over into a sweep by the other team. Not only did they win tonight, but they held the trash cans to a measly run after a 14-spot last night.
Tyler Anderson was very impressive. He mixed his pitches well, painting the edges with the fastball to keep people honest, then getting K’s off the changeup. Usually you don’t see “good” Anderson in odd numbered years…. I was expecting a bad season from him.
With today’s outing he lowered his ERA from 4.50 all the way down to 2.87. It will be interesting to see how long he can pitch well, even if not this well.
So far so good, an odd year too
Also, right at the point where I was thinking that all the Assboys had seen Anderson plenty and he doesn’t have a set up fastball nor a fourth pitch to rig up for a third/fourth time through the order…. out pops Wash and pulls him like a true moron.
It was indeed a Billy Big Balls move by Mr Anderson snuffing those Astros after the hard rogering they gave us last night
LTBU. I’m sitting sideways, boyz in daze. What a great win in H town. Time to celebrate. Let’s get this series tomorrow.
