Beautiful Shutout Victory For GA

Won one for Garret!

Inning 1

Jose Soriano was sharp in the first inning. He struck out two and nobody reached base. The Angels batters made contact.. Nolan Schanuel got a two out hit on a knuckle ball. Jo Adell popped out to first in foul territory to end the inning. 0-0 after one.

Inning 2

Soriano had a ten pitch clean inning. Yoan Moncada hit a lead off homer. 1-0 Angels.

Two outs later Logan O’Hoppe got hit in the chest by a fastball. Adam Frazier drove him in with a triple. 2-0 Angels.

Neto singled up the middle on a knuckle ball. 3-0 Angels.

Mike Trout got buzzed up and in on a fastball. Zach Neto was awarded second base on three consecutive failed pick off plays. Trout then struck out to end the inning.

Inning 3

Ty France singled and Luis Campusano walked. Jake Cronenworth grounded into a force out for the second out. Luis Tatis Jr. walked to load the bases. Jackson Merrill grounded out to second. Nolan Schanuel singled on a liner to center. Jo Adell struck out. After two outs, Peraza got a hit past Machado to left field. Josh Lowe struck out to end the inning. The Angels had three strikeouts at this point while Soriano had struck out three Padres. (Hanging in there).

Inning 4

Adam Frazier singled on a grounder to short. Mike Trout got a two out walk. Nolan Schanuel singled to make it 4-0 Angels. This chased Matt Waldron.

Jo Adell doubled to make it 6-0 Angels.

Moncada struck out to end the inning.

Inning 5

Oswald Peraza got hit by a pitch in the elbow. Josh Lowe hit a two run homer to right to score two more.. 8-0 Angels.

O’Hoppe then got a pitch that was low and tight and he was almost hit. O’Hoppe walked courtesy of a pitch clock violation. Adam Frazier lined out, but Neto got a hit. Two men were on with one out for the incendiary Mike Trout! A wild pitch sent O’Hoppe to third. Mike Trout walked to load the bases with only one out for Nolan Schanuel. In came Wandy Peralta to pitch. Schanuel struck out. Jo Adell grounded out to second to end the inning.

Inning 6

Manny Machado got the Padres second hit past Moncada. The next two guys made outs. Josh Lowe got a single. That was it.

Inning 7

Nobody did anything.

Inning 8

Nobody did anything.

Inning 9

The Dreaded Jordan Romano came in to pitch. He threw a “wild pitch” but nobody was on base so it was not official. Gavin Sheets did get a double. Nick Castellanos struck out. Initiate combustion of the infant! Angels won!

Good to see Soriano get past his shitting the bed at home. Kikuchi needs to step his game up or get moved to the bp.

What a nice win and thanks for posting this great spring training photo of GA. It has always been a favorite of mine.

If/when Schanny & Josh Lowe pick it up a bit, this offense could be a juggernaut of sorts.

I would rather see Fraizer playing instead of Lowe

Maybe, I like Frazier at 2B. It keeps Christian Moore at AAA – where he belongs.

Then where does Peraza play?

3rd and 2nd (When Frazier sits)

Peraza, Frazier & Lowe can get plenty of AB’s sharing LF, 3b and 2b.

When Soler comes back tomorrow Lowe will lose quite a bit of playing time …

I sure hope so. I don’t want Lowe getting plenty of ABs.
Moncada will not be sitting so Peraza can play 2B and Fraizer can play LF.

CYriano, Trout and Adell have been surprisingly excellent thus far. Hopefully they keep it up and stay healthy.

GA tribute was truly moving. One of my all-time favorites. I would have liked to see that GA heart moved over to left field and remain all season.

Trout currently leads the AL in BWar, runs scored, and BBs.

We just returned home from the game.

You know what having an Ace means? It means that when the game is 3-0 in the 3rd inning, you can effectively call it “ball game”, which is what I did with my wife. She’s like, what do you mean, they suck. I said, yes, that’s generally true, but, Soriano is one of the best pitchers in baseball and this game is more or less over.

Side note: My wife thinks Josh Lowe is “hot”. And he came through tonight.

Final note: RIP Garrett Anderson.

Love this tribute but would like to see it moved to left field and remain there all season.

I was at the game. It was magic. Ran into my nephew with his spouse and 2 yr old kid, sitting in the exact same section of 301 !!! Soriano has definitely taken a step forward with not having his best stuff, but not blowing up, and adjusting calmly to grind away. A .28 ERA is crazy, and maybe worth 6 or 7 players in a trade. Yeah, I know, that is blasphemous talk, but ……

So jealous! Even my wife was saying we should go…where we live it would be 1-2 hours in traffic.

I’m lucky enough to be 15 minutes, and no freeways from the stadium.

I was there too golf !! I was really glad I had decided to go earlier in the week. Actually it was because Soriano was starting…that was the motivating factor. But it was Kizmit that I got to be there for the GA tribute. I was really glad I saw it in person.

Great effort by the team all the way around. Soriano of course, and great grinding AB’s from the offense.

Solid win to honor Garret.

The main reason I got the tickets a while back was because of the Star Wars give away, so I took the whole family. My wife’s brother is a docent at Rancho Obi Wan in Petaluma, the world’s largest Star Wars memorabilia museum. That museum has action figures, toys, Legos, movie props, etc. So we usually get him at least one of the Star Wars give away each year.

On a side not golf, I was a HUGE Star Wars fanatic as a child. Was about 10 yrs old when the first installment “A New Hope” screened and shook our culture. It was the center of my life for 1-2 years. I collected the comics and the tiny action figures…. still kick myself for not having saved that stuff longer cause it is worth a small fortune now.

Funny, but that TV add for last night’s give away is still sticking in my head and won’t go away, with Roger Lodge saying “The Mandalorian and GROW-GOO !”

I was probably 15 or 16 when Star Wars was first released ( before they retitled it “A New Hope”).
Any mine of those toys/figures you had as a kid, can be found at Rancho Obi Wan. The owner used to work at Lucas. My brother in law has taken my son to Skywalker Ranch, where George Lucas lives, as he has been invited there a few times. And it’s just a few miles down the road from my father in laws house.

Up there with the Skaggs no no and the Weaver win after Adenhart. I don’t know if there’s a God, but it makes me feel like there’s not-nothing.

LTBU! Halos get one for the legendary GA. I’m still numb and at a loss for words. As diehard fans, we develop unhealthy parasocial relationships with these players, but over the years they really do start to feel like part of your family. As a geriatric millennial, GA represented not only part of the greatest generation of Angels homegrown players, but also the Halo with the sweetest swing. The small-minded called him lazy in LF, but he was as smooth and fluid as they come at tracking balls; his sliding catches were a thing of beauty. We’ll always remember the three RBIs in Game 7, the 10-RBI Yankees game, and his HR Derby/ASG MVP—but I’m most gutted for his wife and three kids.

Forever our Angel in LF. 🥺
