Starting off week 4 I had to make a couple additions to prospects as Jamie Arnold didn’t pitch Friday because he was sick. These 2 players aren’t necessarily top prospects but the Performances they had, it is worth writing about.
First Jace LaViolette From Texas A&M had his best weekend of the year so far and he should keep heating up as the season continues. Friday Jace was 2-4 with 4RBI’s and a walk, Saturday 1-4 with 2RBI’s and Sunday he was 0-3 with a walk. His walk numbers continue to increase and I’m sure his batting average will too. It is still early in the year and I have faith that his draft stock will remain in the top 3. He also needs 2 more long balls to secure the Texas A&M home run title.
Staying in Texas and also a teammate of Jace, Ryan Prager has had a great start to the year for A&M, along with a great outing this weekend. His stat line, 7IP(complete game due to run rule) 3 hits, 0 runs, 2 walks and 7K’s. Ryan has a sub 1 ERA through 23 innings pitched and has totaled 2 wins to start off his campaign. Ryan has racked up 27 strikeouts through 23 innings and I think he could be a good potential pick later in the draft. His only set back is not being a gunslinger like most of the top pitchers in this draft. he typically sits high 80’s to low 90’s.
Moving on, This player is from a school that doesn’t get much attention but after this weekend he sure did. Maximus Martin, Golden spikes player of the week, posted a .667 average with 8 hits, 5 home runs and 12 RbI’s. Friday he was 1-3 with an RBI, Saturday he was 2-4 with 8RBI’s and Sunday with a crazy 5-5 performance. He’s hitting .500 on the year, with an 1.065 SLG and an 1.639 OPS. Maximus is not a top prospect to start the year, but the week he had was too good not to include.
To wrap up the article is a familiar name, Tyler Bremner. His stat line, 5IP, 4 hits, 3 runs, and 6k’s. Bremner was having a good start only giving up 1 run before going into the 5th inning and thats when he gave up the pair of runs. He is starting to piece together his outings and going deeper into the season I only see Bremner getting more dominant.
Stay tuned for weekly updates on the best players in college!
