LA Angels Tuesday News Crash: Happy Holidays!

Patrick Sandoval to the Red Sox is now official.

Sean Manaea signed with the Mets for three years at $75 Million. Walker Buehler signed with the Red Sox for one year. He will get $21.05 Million. Joc Pederson will be a Ranger for two years, unless he exercises his opt out after 2025 or gets traded. The Rangers also signed right-hander Shawn Armstrong. Patrick Murphy got a minor league deal, also with the Rangers.

Andrew McCutchen gets another year with the Pirates. The Tampa Bay Rays signed Eloy Jimenez and infielder Coco Montes to minor league deals. The Phillies signed right-hander Joe Ross.

Phil Nevin will be a Special Assistant with the White Sox.

Dear Santa. Tonight, please make Perry trade all of our trade worthy players to teams for prospects that are 50 grade or higher. All I want for Christmas is ignorance. I know most team rosters pretty well. I want to look at line ups in March and wonder “Who is that? That 1B/OF from Cleveland’s system…. I forgot we got him…. nice.” Just total bafflement. “When did we get Adalberto Modesi?” Let’s make me feel stupid again!

we still need to build the farm. Looking at the free agents it’s kind of bare there. There are a few good pitchers and hitters and they’re all getting overpaid. If the list was deep then maybe we could get half a dozen top players but it’s not deep at all.

Anyone with half a brain would look at this and realize our future should come from our minor leagues and would then, if he happened to own the team, spend his money there. That means scouts, training facilities, housing!!, top-notch coaches. Forget about a $25 mil pitcher. Put $15 mil into the minors. In the long run you save money and get better results.

All I know is that if Perry is a real man of baseball he will be on the phone tonight pissing off every GM in baseball and he’ll find a way to trade Burke for Gunnar Henderson and Trout for three teams top three prospects.

Tomorrow also kicks of Hannukah. While the two often overlap, it is rare that they line up like this and I think it is pretty cool. After all, the two faiths are so interlinked.

Four days of ribeye ending today with an addition of lobster. I can’t believe I’m saying this but, I think I’m getting tired of steak.

I smoked a 3 bone ribeye roast over mesquite for several hours last weekend. One of the simplest things I make but always a hit. After a couple of days, I need a change too.

We had Christmas Dinner at Harris Ranch last Saturday.

I had the Thanksgiving prime rib & turkey special…YUM!

We took the 5 year old grandson and he was in total awe.

The comments that flew lacked any grief,
In fact, all in unison, there were shouts of relief!

We danced and rejoiced and we cried like a baby
Could a new era begin?
it was more than just maybe!
A new owner, a new plan and, yes a new Organization
The Angels were sure to restore their high station!

Out Arte, out Carpino, out Kuhl, and out Jolly
An end to the stooges, an end to the folly!
A new ownership group with hope and a plan!
To rebuild the Angels and reward the fans!

And yes this all may be a dream, from too much booze
But if it is – please do not wake me from my happy snooze
Let me keep dreaming with all of my might!

Are you’re saying the team should have paid over $20 million for a pitcher that was about as good as Reid Detmers last year? Seems like an overpay on a prove it contract. I was thinking more like $12-14 million. And while I wouldn’t have minded Joc over Soler, I don’t think the team needs two DH’s because neither one fields a position very well.

Anyone know what signing Kikuchi for three years at $21 million per is a good deal, while passing on Buehler for one year at $21 million? It would seem on paper, talent, past history etc. that Buehler is the better pitcher and should be solid for one year. Except for getting back into the Asian market, Kikuchi is more of a wildcard.

Kikuchi is far more likely to complete 150 innings than Walker who is a boom or bust type signing.

I agree Walker offers way more upside and for a team this far from contention is a sensible gambe.

If we could only obtain a recording of said ghost kicking the snot out of Arte. We could then post it online which would then undoubtedly go massively viral and we could monetize it. I’m fairly certain the resulting capital would then allow us to buy the team.
We then elect one of you fine folks to run the team.
CTPG community spends the rest of our days complaining about your failings.
