The Red Sox acquired Garrett Crochet from the White Sox for four relatively high ranking prospects.
Will the Angels actually trade an outfielder? Who will they trade for? Here is a way too early mock draft from MLB official site. They have the Angels taking Jace LaViolette, an outfielder out of Texas A & M. The Angels were relatively active in the Rule 5 Draft this year. Here are the results. Here is the CtPG post-mortem discussion. The Angels were not mentioned among the winners of the winter meetings. They also were not mentioned among the losers. The article calls the Houston Astros “losers,” which is fun to read.
The Rangers have a one year deal with right-hander Jacob Webb. They also traded three prospects for corner infielder Jake Burger.
The Giants signed Willy Adames to be their new shortstop. The contract is very back loaded. The Brewers signed Grant Wolfram to a major league deal. The Yankees re-signed Jonathan Loaisiga to a one year deal with a team option.
If Juan Soto wants the number 22 from Brett Baty the Collective Bargaining Agreement says he has to buy up all the Baty number 22 gear from MLB. The guy needs tax breaks anyway so he should buy it and donate it to charity.
Rocky Colavito passed away Tuesday at the age of 91.

The Cubs and Astros have discussed a possible trade involving Tucker going to Chicago and outfielder Seiya Suzuki and third baseman Isaac Paredes heading to Houston, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Chandler Rome
Get him out of Houston and in the NL
I don’t know why the Angels would not get involve if that was the return. Ward, Rengifo and Anderson. Get these short timers off of our team.
The evil big Blue empire still snagging top tier level players with a mid level farm system….l guess when you’re them or LIV golf you can do that.
not sure if someone posted this yesterday.

and there is confirmation, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes will serve as Angels Low-A affiliate starting in 2026
No more SB ghetto.

Dongers are getting a state-of-the-art complex in Ontario freeing up the park for their little cousin
Not a bad table scrap. The view of Mount Baldy alone is worth a trip to see all the young, new, future up-and-coming-can’t-miss prospects 😀
I wouldn’t mind trying the loaded tremor tots.
If you slide your camera lenses 40 degrees to the right, you’ll get Ontario and Cucamonga Peak
Damnit!!!
Good, I never liked them being Dodgers. Rancho is so much nicer than Bernardino.
Nice! And I’m working in Montclair these days, in a hybrid type arrangement. May have to hit the ballpark after work.
Back where they belong!
When I saw the Crochet trade to Boston, my first thought was they gave up a lot. But then a Red Sox fan (can’t call them BoSucks because I hate the MFY) told me the prospects weren’t all that great statistically. I’m too lazy—or maybe I just don’t care enough—to look it up myself. So if anyone knows better, feel free to reply, and I’ll be sure to laugh in my friend’s face next time.
I have to say, I like how the Red Sox seems to be on the rise while the MFY look like they’re trending down. Here’s hoping Judge follows the Pujols aging curve sooner rather than later.
On another note, I’m feeling pretty good about our #2 pick. It’s nice to wake up to something like that—though maybe I’m just in an unusually good mood today.
Speaking of moods, I was thinking about Sean Connery this morning and his “You take one of ours, we’ll take five of yours” line. Love the Angels’ little retaliation in the Rule 5 draft, snatching up a Dodger pitcher after they lured Ohtani away with free gambling and a couple million a year. Feels like a small win, doesn’t it?
Lastly, I’ve got concerns about Kikuchi. I heard he’s afraid of the media, and that doesn’t scream “high-character guy” to me. I was talking about character yesterday, and honestly, that sounds like a possible red flag… which probably means he’s destined to be an Angel. trAdition, (Did I do that right?)
it was a solid package. Teel and Montgomery are really good
That being said, the Sox didn’t give up their top 3 prospects so, I actually like the deal for them
Maybe Kikuchi just has social anxiety issues.
If he can pitch like that guy who started and ended with the Royals but stopped by Anaheim and LAD for a bit, it would be worth it.
You mean Serial Killer?
I didn’t think the return was that great either considering we cleaned out the talent in their system last year with the Luis Garcia trade.
“cleaned out” is a big stretch

The Red Sox are talking to John Means, who is exactly who the Angels should be talking to instead of pay Kikuchi. But hey, gotta give the “we can rebuild AND still sign guys that make me feel warm and fuzzy inside” their guys. The race to .485 begins in a few weeks! And then again next year. And again…..
I wish we literally had just kids and washed out possible bounce back trade candidates pitching all our innings this year…. trade everything of value! Make Farm Great Again! I want our 25th ranked prospect to be 50 grade!
I love the kids but think we need some veteran coaches at a low price to help raise the kids. You think we have what we need?
Please tell me that Sasaki did not meet with the ChiSux!
I know the halos weren’t much better, but really!?
Money is green everywhere
I freaked out when my parents took me to Canada and I saw their money. At least their twenties are green.
As andrew bynum would say, “every city has an atm.”
I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, who heard it from another that Perry was messin’ around multiple buffets during the winter meetings….and doing little else.
As for the Angels being “in” on multiple “name” free agents during the meetings, as long term patients around here know, that was again nothing more than the Rally Monkey being held hostage in Arte’s basement doing off-season marketing of season ticket packages.
Thumbs up for REO Speedwagon reference!
