ALDS Game 5 Gamethread

Today will decide who we root for next series, possibly two. I’d love to see Detroit win for my good friend from Detroit but think Cleveland is more likely to win the next round or two.

I don’t wanna root for a spoiler or individual achievement.
I’m just a outside observer, right now nobody is as on fire as the Mets.
This proves big money and aggressive player movement wins. The Mets will be this year’s Texas Rangers who ran over the TB Rays last year.

But what about the 2023 Mets that also spent a ton of money? Or the 2023 Yankees?

Your theory that a team that spends and spends wins is not accurate. There are many other factors.

They did spend, so did the Padres, Dodgers, Phillies, and Rangers, so once again TO YOU CONGRATS TO THE 2015 KC ROYALS, and before them the 1991 Minnesota Twins. Meanwhile the NBA has the San Antonio Spurs during the 2000’s and recently the Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks. The Guardians aren’t going to beat the Yankees.

What is the cut offline for being considered a big spender? Top 7 or 6, wherever the cut offline, the Angels spent and spent year after year and never won a thing. The Halos won a WS by not being a top spender. To me it is who is hot in October with a splash or two of luck and being from NYC helps with replay calls.

Tribe vs Metros W/S…I like it!

But it will be MFY vs latrines.

Because the networks say so.

Subway series 2.0
And the Mets actually have a bigger payroll than the Yankees!
BTW the perfect bullpen pitcher for today’s game would be former mid 2000’s Angel’s pitcher Kelvim Escobar (could both start and relieve and had very good stuff). Carlos Estevez sh*t the bed vs the Mets, so stick a fork in the closer role guy, so somebody needs to tell the old rich guy. Josh Hader, Carlos Estevez RIP…..

Time for everyone to root for the Guardians to win it all. The other 3 left are all from the overspend to compete mode.

Three evil teams left. The Guardians are a good organization built the right way as imply!

Meaning no payroll tax? or no expensive Free Agents or just being from a “small market?”.

7-3 should be plenty enough

One of my best friends is 78 years old and has been a Cleveland fan since he was 9 years old. His heart has been broken many times without a World Series championship.

He is so convinced that the Guardians will lose today that he is not watching the game and did not watch game 4.

This reminds me of me in 2002. I was convinced that the Angels would break my heart again in 2002 until Erstad squeezed that final out.

even now, when I watch the last out, I’m worried Ochoa is gonna run into Erstad

The good people of Cleveland deserve something positive…. They have the Browns.
