Christian Moore made number 6 at second base in this list of top prospects by position. Enter Johnny Cueto. Exit Hans Crouse and Jose Cisnero.
The “not a moment too soon” 2026 bracket format schedule for the World Baseball Classic.
The Mets “have a Jose Quintana problem.” Color me surprised. The Astros just activated Justin Verlander.
The Guardians designated left-hander Anthony Gose for assignment. The Yankees just placed right-hander Luis Gil on the injured list with a lower back strain. The Orioles designated Terrin Vavra for assignment.
The Padres just re-signed Carl Edwards to a minor league deal. Ahhh! The old reset button.

Perry has done everything Arte asked for. From Arte’s point of view when you’ve found your minion, there’s no use having to hire and train a new one.
I’m more than a little surprised that Perry wanted to stay with Arte for another two years. Since Perry had the chance to leave but chose to stay, this should put the “Arte calls the shots on all player personnel decisions” bullshit to bed.
You realize Theres only 30 of these jobs available and this ones in beautiful SoCal. Realistically Where’s Perry going to go if he quit this one even if he works for a shitburger owner?
I’ll take my Answer off the air.
He could go back to Atlanta working for AA until the stench of Arte wears off.
JeDi and Eppler landed after leaving Arte. No reason to think Perry wouldn’t too.
GM and manager gigs are all one big fraternity. It’s like being a CEO in corporate America: landing the first gig is the hardest. Once you’re in, you’re in for as long as you want.
100%
You are exactly correct. He is Arturo’s useful idiot.
I can’t think of a man more deserving of an extension. Great job Perry!
Brock Burke as the opener tonight? Kavadas, Stefanic, Thaiss…Kendon at clean up? Mad Ethan Holiday vibes are alive.
Burke will be followed by Mr. Shit Canning . which just means that there will be a melt down in the 3rd inning or fourth inning instead of the first or second inning like normal.

The 66ers are fun to go watch, when they play the Quakes. The only time I go to San Bernaghetto is when I am driving thru on my way to the river.
Rancho Cucamunga and Lake Elsinore are good alternatives to SB.
Anywhere is a good alternative to IE, except Oakland, LA and Frisco.
Oakland is San Bernardino North
🤣
Frisco, Tx. Sucks!
As a resident of the IE I commend your wisdom.
I actually think I like that Perry got extended. He has had more hits than misses lately. Outside of the all pitcher draft, I think his scouting team has done fairly well. The trades he did make at the deadline were both great too.
One thing I’ve always appreciated about him is his willingness to jettison bad contracts like Pujols and Upton. Maybe he’s just the man we need to send Rendon packing.
Now with some assurances beyond the end of the season, he should be more willing to trade more players during the off-season and keep rebuilding.
His FA signs have been…brutal. Plus coughed up two comp picks for a team not built to win. Desperate moves. I don’t trust him as a player evaluator and building a playoff roster not sure anyone else should either. Trades have been…ok. Rasiel and O’Hoppe but jury is out on everything else. Klassen gives me hope if he ever develops command. Am I missing other trades?
Syndergaard for Moniak was a great trade too, IMO.
I still think Arte was driving the bus when we traded the farm last year on a hopium playoff shot. Maybe its cheating to not hold that against Perry, but I don’t.
Not all of his FA signings have been brutal. Drury (last year), Estevez, Matt Moore, Tyler Anderson to name a few. He hasn’t saddled us with a Hamilton, Pujols, or Rendon yet.
So any bad trades was Arte and good trades were Perry?
No.
The only recent decision that was entirely 100% all Arte was keeping Ohtani
Yeah that is what I am specifically referring to. Not trading Ohtani last year and choosing to load up instead reeked of Arte.
I put all other trade or non-trade decisions on Perry.
If he has been extended I think it is a positive. Perry is a much better than average talent evaluator. It would also mean (maybe) Arte has realized the benefits of having lots of young talent (versus overpriced free agents) and will give Perry a longer leash.
But but but I thought Arte was forcing Perry to keep Ward, Anderson, and Gifo?
There is Joy and Jolly’ness in winning in the Angels organization!

But here is the news of the day:
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/08/mariners-expected-to-fire-scott-servais.html
Jer Jer shit canned Cervix to save his own ass. Not sure why the JeDi didnt just walk out on his team instead in order to defend ihis BFF.
Holy Shit! The Bromance has come to an end. This is the NEWS of the day. Floored. Team is last in MLB in hitting.
Yeah, if JeDie was force to make the move, surprised Jer-Jer “I quit” Dipoto did not walk out hand in hand.
love it…
Servais was unpopular with our locker room I recall in his old role here. Surprised he lasted that long.
Jer-Jer will be next. I will miss them both.
Not as much fun hating on the M’s next year.
Scotty was 95% of it for me – Jerry’s just a quitter.
Agreement. Getting those two out reduces the vitriol I have towards the Mariners. Outside of Heckle and Jeckel, the only other Mariner thing that is still stuck on the bottom of my shoe is, Kyle Seager.
“Cervix” nice
Thanksgiving at the DiPoto’s will never be the same without Scotty’s turkey seasoning
Revise – turkey basting
in my roaming the grounds of Diablo the last twenty years or so in Spring, only one guy stands out as truly a d*ckhead.
would love to have a beer with Scioscia today.
Waiting to hear from 2002
He’s looking for a place to live now that his sugar papa’s are on the street.
I here that Soth is available to manage.
I thought it was Scioscia who forced Dipoto out. I seem to remember (now I am getting older so my memory is not what it once was). Dipoto wanted Scioscia to use more analytics and Scioscia wanted to stick playing whoever had the most “grit.” It got so bad between Scioscia and Dipoto that Artie stepped in and told Dipoto to let Scioscia manage the way he wanted and Dipoto walked at the point. Not sure that if true or not and it happened a long time ago, but I figured Dipoto did what he needed to do and get out of dodge.
I have loved seeing the hated M’s drop lower and lower in the Wild Card standings the last couple of weeks. Delicious.
Good
“Sources; the Angels have reached an agreement on an extension for GM Perry Minasian”

Free Perry
Unburden Perry from what was, and has been.
Free Perry
Might be a slow build. But at least it appears he’s building something.
Unless the GM is just horrible it makes sense to give him time. It generally takes time to turn a team around, and starting from scratch would make very little sense at this point in time.
knee jerk. “Someone has to go”, same as when Maddon was fired. Someone could have looked at the schedule, seen that the Mariners built their division lead by whomping the White Sox, us, Oakland, and Texas, and that once the schedule evened out they’d slip. It’s not Servais’ fault.
Again, being analytical, their “great” pitching and “terrible” hitting is largely caused by their park. From Baseball Reference, where 100 is average, over 100 favors batters, under favors pitchers
One-year: Batting – 88, Pitching – 89
That’s pretty extreme
compared to the Angels
One-year: Batting – 103, Pitching – 105
or Dodgers
One-year: Batting – 101, Pitching – 100
look back at that Seattle thing, 88, 89. That’s pretty crazy.
Maybe The M’s want to trade for Mike Trout. he torches that park.
I don’t think there are any convalescent homes on the beach up there Mike would be happy in.
Congratulations Minasian lovers! You’ve got what you want most, years more of losing baseball. The formula is already in place. Nothing more to do than let Arturo/Minasian have been doing ever since Minasian arrived, and frankly two GM tenures before. But, but, he drafted Neto and traded for O’Hoppe. Soriano might be good, same with Ben Joyce. Other than that, it’s Nolan Schnauel, and a whole lot of nothing.
Perry does the best he can with no scouting department.
For me, I think it’s time to stop coddling Perry and giving him soft excuses. He said he had full autonomy at the deadline, then treat him as such.
not trading TA was stupid imo. The Stephenson FA deal has an atomic bomb strapped to it. Not being able to sign Prager hurt.
Those are his glaring missteps in the last 12 months that I can think of off the top
Only Molly Jolly is coddled. She’s “mollycoddled”
IDK, Mr. Jolly does not seem like a coddler
lol – I don’t think ANYONE could be classified as a “Perry lover” … well maybe the owner of Rotolo Chevrolet
Yeh but that Dude loves Orel Hersheiser and the Doyers even more so not sure how much of Perry’s weight that carries with Arte.
Everyone loves Orel
Except his ex wife.
I hear Mr. Jolly is a fan of Orel…….. big supporter of Hersheiser, Rotolo Chevrolet, and the Doyers
Does he get his Jollys Orel Lee?

you buybyhttps://x.com/JeffFletcherOCR/status/1826684299065598375
More future sunk costs for Arte. Brilliant part of the plan of unfinished business.
Arte will never-ever hire a known commodity GM, even if he wanted too, none would be willing to sign a contract to work for him. Much like free agent signings, the draft and trades they’re all lotto tickets, The way Art handles the front office hirings, GM is just another lotto ticket. Art’s hire pool for the next GM is, assistant GM that is willing to jump on board with an idiot owner.
Put me in this camp.
https://x.com/Jared_Tims/status/1826688236040978513
he’s the guy who is Stoney’s assistant, right?
i think i’ve seen him around helping out the ‘boys’.
good for him.
I think with the resources he has, the support or lack thereof he as done a good job. No GM is perfect, they all have at one time or another made head scratches moves. But I do believe he is the best GM we have had since Stoneman and Stoneman had much better ownership support or was able to spend more money on scouting and development.

Nolan Schanuel from March – May
206 PA / 183 AB
.224 BA
.282 OBP
.328 SLG
Obviously that’s a pretty rough way to start the season. Where is Nolan at now? Full season stats:
493 PA / 419 AB
.251 BA
.348 OBP
.375 SLG
1.4 WAR
Very bullish on this kid’s future.
Welp he needs to learn how to hit Left handers then. Career OPS against LHP .672 vs Career OPS against RHP .740 and with Runners on base . Career OPS Bases empty .759 vs Career OPS Runners on .661
So Nolans got alot of things to work on and hopefully that exit velocity keeps improving.
I want to see him continue to improve also, but those platoon splits are pretty normal for a lefty and are less extreme than some of the righties on our team. It’s only a .068 gap. Joey Votto, who retired yesterday, had a .099 gap. Wally Joyner had a much bigger gap.
yep but when you start out with an OPS against Righties well over .800 it makes a large OPS gap against lefties that much more palatable.
I agree, but improving and maturing generally is what’s needed. A .740 OPS against RHP won’t cut it long term for a LH 1B. If he raised both numbers by 60 points, he’d be pretty respectable.
Schanuel needs to work on consistency. He knows the strike zone and shouldn’t change his (Day-to-day) approach on bad calls from umpires. He has started to “Soft-check” on a lot of pitches, that indicates a confidence or approach issue.
Anyhooo, I know he’ll improve. He’d be in just his second year of MiLB if it wasn’t for the Halos yearly rushing up new recruits up to the big club’s war on missing the post-season.
Not sure if this is a thing….. but he doesn’t look 22, he looks older. He plays older, kind of acts older, IMO. Ton of time to improve. Seems like a smart kid and will listen and learn. Still will put on some man weight, get stronger, hell, some kids still grow in height at 22.
IMO, he’s a good defensive 1st baseman. Looks comfortable in the box, and improving. To me, he looks stiff. Almost like if hitting the weight room and taking some Pilates and goat yoga classes would increase some bat speed and his OPS. Not sure what the likely-hood a kid can increase his ability to drive the ball.
again……He’s 22
Free us to break the trAditions
Free him from staring at ball 4 when its strike 3.
F’ 3-2 counts. Do your thing earlier!
From June 3rd through last night he’s slashing .271/.386/.411 with 7 HR. He’s striking out at a 16% clip.
and those numbers feel totally sustainable as his floor.
I hope that’s right.
The only concern I have is his BABIP of .337 over that span. Is that sustainable long term with his lack of Exit Velocity?
The A’s have scored more runs than us, have given up a lot less runs than us, so why do they insist on being tied for last with us? 😗 So far we are still in the hunt for the number one or two pick in the draft, so there is that….. 🙃
Easy they dont have the Wash WAR 15 anymore.
’68 wasn’t a very good year and neither is 68 wins, but that is the current pace and below the expected preseason total of 73, so what happened? 👉 Where did it all go wrong? 👈
While receiving nothing for Ohtani’s services can’t be at blame, or could it? If it was prospects in return then the blame does not lay here, at least not for the ’24 season as the prospects could still be earning wages in A or AA or even AAA.
How about with PTP? Nah, not really as he is not as bad a GM as perceived by some. Despite being under the thumb of a POBO who the smartest baseball mind in the Major Leagues, Perry has done as good a job as can be expected. (Although I did issue an opinion that we should have acquired the services of Lorenzen that went unheeded 😁 ), I will be forever grateful that Neyo was drafted while a first rd pick as requested. Pillar was genius as a pickup.
How about the manager Washington? Nope-no blame here. Washington has been the best choice as a manager in the last four to try their hand at working this mess of an organization, imho. Washington can’t control anything more that\n what he is given. Too much credit is given to managers at times, but this guy knows how to play the game and knows what he is doing with this cast of at best journeyman. Rengifo had his usual amount od At Bats and did well, even his fielding improved somewhat, and his ten-cent head still can give change. Ward who imho should have been traded, has been, well, Ward this year, after all what did we expect? O’Hoppe has proven to be a decent bat and hopefully improves his “D” down the road. So, Washington has not been an issue at all.
Our pitching is not to entirely to blame now, is it? When all else fails blame it on the pitching, but not this season. Working on a patched together daily who’s who of unfamiliar names as starters and getting hit with the usual expected injuries, trAdition, the starting staff can’t come to bat any more, which is too bad as they might have been better at the plate than what was supposed to get runs for them. And the Bullpen has really been better than advertised all season, if the season started on May 15th, but come together it did for the most part.
You and I know Shirley what happened (I know-don’t call me Shirley 😂 ), a weak organization from top to bottom with a few decent spots all by accident. We a not left victims of being the team’s fans here, as we have made our choice to hang out together and watch the follies and condone, despairing complain, root for, suffer the pain of losing, and the little bit of joy of winning and rooting for our favorite players, because we are fans after all of the Angels. We may not know where we will be playing in a few years, whether it is in SoCal, or in North Carolina or even Canada, be we will always have a soft spot and yes, even HOPEIUM, for this sad sack of a team
It could be worse, instead of being the second-best team in SoCal, we could be the worest team in Chicago. (Oh shit no, please).
On a different note, I’ve got three spare tickets in 113 for the 9/1 game vs. Jerry’s Kids.
I’ll take three of you guys. If you’re interested, let me know.
I’d like to go. We could discuss it on Messenger if you want.
You’re in. I’ll ping you on Messenger.
No pitchers announced for either team tonight.
Cueto pitched good enough to win…just one little problem.
He pitched surprisingly well last night. Alas, he is learning first hand that the Angels are notorious for not giving a pitcher any run support.
but but … they did score NINE TIMES, Mrs Bueller … just the night before.
