LA Angels Monday News Crash: Soriano Down

The Angels placed Jose Soriano on the injured list with arm fatigue and activated Jose Cisnero over the weekend. Cisnero had a little bit of a rough seventh inning on Saturday with a hit by pitch followed by a four pitch walk. Then he got designated for assignment. Let’s see how Victor Murderous can do. The Angels also outrighted Willie Calhoun. We will see whether he accepts the assignment. Here is a story about Mike Trout and his son Beckham opening a 2009 pack of Bowman cards and finding an autographed Mike Trout Rookie card. Three familiar names appear on this “2024 All Overpaid Team.” One of them even made it into the totally sunk cost intermission. Anthony Rendon did not make it onto the injured list after being hit by a pitch, at least not this time. This article is about Logan O’Hoppe’s dad being cancer free, Logan’s 350 guests to the Yankees double header, and the kid-signed chest protector Logan wore for Player’s Weekend. Lots of feel good stuff in there.

The Mets activated Starling Marte from the injured list and designated Ben Gamel for assignment in the corresponding move. The Reds placed Hunter Greene on the 15 day IL due to right elbow soreness. They don’t think it is a big deal. Christian Yelich will undergo season ending back surgery.

It appears that the White Sox are mathematically eliminated from the post season. At least we won’t have to face those guys in the ALCS. You can all get a good night’s sleep now.

There are 4-5 sink holes in the Angles starting line-up tonight. KC heavily favored with Lugo pitching.

KC did a heck of a job rebounding from their 56-106 record from last year to be 14 games above .500. Good GMs can influence that, you know. While Perry was playing pocket pool with Stephenson, Cisneros, Plesac, Hicks, Sano and others, KC signed Lugo, Wacha and Will Smith. Stabilized the pitching staff. Regardless, I think Perry is just awesome.

Pop a cold one, listen to Langer and Smith and let’s watch some Angel baseball.

I took a week off and went to Lake Tahoe then Sacramento with my family. Great trip.

Looks like the Angels offense took a week off as well.

We caught the Bees at the RiverCats on Thursday. Jordyn Adams is a phenomenal athlete. He scored from first on a double and was flying around the bases while looking like he wasn’t even trying hard.

Bachman’s slider was legit. He was placing it well and it had great movement. His fastball velocity was down considerably in the early innings but heated up as the game went along. I’d never seen him start before, and he did a really good job on Thursday.

Met one of the Bees coaches and told him about the site.

BEEEEEZ! A Buzz buzz! I am interested in this Adams kid and plan to subscribe to his news letter. It would be pretty wild if, after all this time and moaning, he’s like “Oh, I learned baseball now. Here we go…”.

How hard was Bachman throwing once he got going? Did he fall apart after 60 pitches or show some legs?

Was that the Keith Johnson Walk of Shame game? its going to be crazy having major league teams playing there all next year especially with the visitors clubhouse access out in the outfield.

I love how prospects sexperts are all just giving up on figuring out which pitchers are worth being big time prospects. Top 100 only has like 22 or 23 pitchers. With all the injuries and failure to dervelerp and lack of innings video watchers are just plain not trying anymore.

reading about the MLB lottery I see that 6 teams get picked out of 16 that are eligible. Oakland and the White Sox can’t be picked for some financial reasons.

But here’s the terrible catch. 6 are picked so a team with the 3rd worse record can conceivably get the 9th pick. Each individual club has only a certain chance to be one of those 6 but collectively it’s a mess with that many. There is a 39% chance that one of the teams below us will get their numbers selected. In fact, there is a better chance that four teams below us will get picked before the Angels.

MLB thinks that’s exciting.

Angels got bumped back one spot this year due to the lottery. In previous years we’d have picked 6th not 7th. The Cardinals jumped us and got Weahterholt.

I went down that “MLB Draft Lottery” rabbit hole last year….had to abort due to a bad case of vertigo. Seemed to be a bunch of random shit.

I often just assume that it’s above my pay grade to understand……but more and more its just stupid people trying to be different

There has to eventually be a way for the Dodgers or Yankees to win a WS and also pick first in the draft…..

It’s not financial. Again, the 18 non-postseason clubs are eligible, though revenue sharing payees are ineligible to receive lottery selections in three consecutive years.

Say Kavadas does this for us in August – would you take it?

AB: 69
H: 12
HR: 7
RBI: 12
BA: .174
OBP: .227
SLG: .522
OPS: .748

good enough numbers?
These are Shohei’s numbers in August 2024

Am I a harderened heartless SOB or what? I watch that video of Trout and son and can only think – how about rehabbing rather than opening up baseball cards?! Dude is being paid $30-plus million!! I just don’t get any warm fuzzies from that at all. 😳

If he were to retire and save the Angels $150+ million on that contract- then I’d feel the warm fuzzies.

It’s a dad opening baseball cards with his kid lol (even if it’s staged).

“I watch that video of Trout and son and can only think – how about rehabbing rather than opening up baseball cards?!” is pretty insane my guy lol

Okay – if it’s THAT then why film it? Why post it? Why not just have it between father and son. What is the purpose of putting it on social media?!

I would bet Trout is getting paid by Bowman to post that and also that they sent him the box with the pack marked all for marketing purposes.

I know. I know. I’m damaged goods but at least I know it.

Hes a 23 year old TJS survivor on a limited pitch count in High A ball. I’m shocked the Angels have not elevated him yet to AA.

But he may be the most successful pitcher of the all pitcher draft although Ky Bush actually had a good start against the trashstros for the ChiSoxthe other day so there is hope for Perry’s castoff there.

I laugh every time you say TJS survivor haha.

Gotta think the plan is get Costeiu thru this year healthy and start him at Rocket City in ’25. Quick ladder from there

Costeiu is a legit prospect if he can stay healthy.

And with our crack medical staff and top notch development team, he is sure to do so.

When a player signs cards, they get some for themself. I have a suspicious feeling Mike played a little hocus pocus on his son there.

Went to the game yesterday and was impressed with Silent C (Kochanowicz).

Really big kid and his power sinker moves well in and out of the zone. Sharpening his curveball and developing a reliable 3rd pitch will be key.

I said to myself after he made that diving catch that he has improved so much as a defender. My assumption is that is Wash and the other coaches, but it is good to see!

The packs him and his son were opening weren’t from 2019, the cards are reprints with real autos. That original of the card was going for huge money.

Rangers are (188 mi), but even the Astros are blacked out when they play them, and that’s “just” 435 miles away from me here in southwest Oklahoma.

If only our overlords in D.C. would legislate an end to insane TV blackouts of MLB and NFL games. We are supposed to live in a free market economy. Seems the freedom only applies to the monopolists of sports. Google getting punished for being brilliantly successful while MLB and NFL get special treatment! Disgusting.
