Above is the fielding alignment. Below is what Griffin Canning does against the Athletics lately. One homer, one double, and assorted other hits appear to be on the menu. The Angels went for the City Connect uniforms tonight.
Inning 1:
JJ Bleday flied out to Zach Neto in shallow left. Miguel Andujar grounded out to Neto. Brent Rooker singled to left. Tyler Soderstrom flied out to Taylor Ward in left. Nolan Schanuel grounded out 4-3. Luis Rengifo got hit on the elbow by a 98 MPH pitch. He stayed in the game. Taylor Ward promptly got brushed back by a pitch high and tight. He responded with an opposite field homer. 2-0 Angels.
Willie Calhoun singled to left. Logan O’Hoppe flied out to right-center. Zach Neto singled to left field on the ground to drive Calhoun to second. Mickey Moniak struck out swinging to end the inning.
Inning 2:
Shea Langoliers grounded out to Zach Neto but Tyler Nevin homered to center to make it 2-1 Angels. Zack Gelof struck out looking. Lawrence Butler singled to Stefanic at second. Aledmys Diaz lined out to Rengifo at third. Jo Adell flied out to right and Michael Stefanic lined out to left. Nolan Schanuel struck out.
Inning 3:
JJ Bleday grounded out to first. Miguel Andujar grounded out to Rengifo. Brent Rooker lined out to Moniak in center field. Luis Rengifo smashed one through on the right side for a single. Taylor Ward walked. Luis Medina threw a wild pitch to advance everybody by a base. Willie Calhoun walked to load ’em up for O’Hoppe. He almost got zapped by a slider that didn’t slide. He did drive in a run eventually with a sacrifice fly to right. 3-1 Angels.
Zach Neto struck out swinging. Mickey Moniak lined one off the glove of the first baseman for a run. 4-1 Angels. It was scored an error. What do you think?

Tyler Soderstrom struck out. Shea Langoliers also struck out. Tyler Nevin flied out to Moniak in center field. Recent call up Aaron Brooks came in to replace Luis Medina on the mound. Michael Stefanic grounded out to third. Nolan Schanuel grounded out to first. Luis Rengifo bounced out back to the pitcher.
Inning 5:
Zack Gelof grounded through the middle for a single. Lawrence Butler flied out to center. Aledmys Diaz struck out on a foul tip. JJ Bleday grounded out to short. Taylor Ward struck out looking. Willie Calhoun flied out to left field. Logan O’Hoppe lined out to third. It looks like we came to the pitcher’s duel part of the game.
Inning 6:
Miguel Andujar doubled to the left field corner. Brent Rooker was batting while Miguel Andujar got picked off, Canning to Stefanic. Then Rooker walked. Tyler Soderstrom grounded into a double play started by Luis Rengifo to Neto to Schanuel. Zach Neto doubled on a grounder to left. Mickey Moniak doubled to right. 5-1 Angels.
Jo Adell sacrificed Moniak over to third on a fly ball to right. Moniak got picked off at third while Michael Stefanic batted. It was scored as caught stealing home. Michael Stefanic walked. Nolan Schanuel grounded out to second.
Inning 7:
Shea Langoliers struck out swinging. Tyler Nevin grounded out to third. Zack Gelof grounded out to third base. Luis Rengifo singled on a grounder to left. Taylor Ward unfortunately grounded into a double play. Willie Calhoun doubled to left. Logan O’Hoppe grounded out to the shortstop.
Inning 8:
Ben Joyce came in to pitch for Griffin Canning. Lawrence Butler struck out swinging. Aledmys Diaz grounded out to third. JJ Bleday singled on a sharp liner to Jo Adell. Miguel Andujar walked. Brent Rooker struck out swinging. Zach Neto also struck out swinging. Mickey Moniak walked. Jo Adell flied out to the second baseman. Michael Stefanic then grounded out to the shortstop Diaz.
Inning 9:
Now Hans Crouse came in to replace Ben Joyce. Tyler Soderstrom flied out to left field. Shea Langoliers struck out swinging. Tyler Nevin walked. Zack Gelof struck out swinging to end the game.
The Angels won this one 5-1.
Zach Neto had a two hit game with a run scored. The calf did not seem to be a problem. Griffin Canning pitched seven innings and struck out five. The Angels needed that.

The last I saw was 16 comments but we were there! In the comments, that is.
In this 13 fame stretch Pineapple wants 10 wins, Fan71 thinks it’s more likely we’ll go 7-6. I think we can win 8. The ease we won with tonight makes it seem like we’ll do fine vs Oakland but then who else can pitch?
