Angels Step on Snakes in 8-3 Win!

The Angels faced the Sneks again today, the desert people maybe got all of their runs out of their system and so won’t score much today. Right? Well to make sure that the Angels had a chance to win this series, Soriano was on the bump, so how did he do? How does going 8+ innings, giving up 1 run (well, technically 2 but one was Moores fault) on 5 hits, striking out 5 and walking 2 sound? Sounds like an Ace to me.

Ace in the making?

But the real story was the offense, scoring a lot of runs often and early to make this a nice easy game to watch. Neto also almost had a CYCLE! Neat huh? Every starter had a hit, 2 even had a 3 hit game. Well, almost everyone. Thaiss went hitless, but hey, 2 walks and a run, so that’s something.

Highlighted Recap

The Angels struck first as the hottest hitting Angel stayed hot, driving in a run in the first.

1-0 Angels

Then in the 2nd, Neto hit a solo shot.

2-0 Angels

And the 3rd run was in the third with a single by Willie Calhoun!

3-0 Angels

So that means 1 in the 4th right? How about a 3 run HOME RUN?

6-0 Angels

Yeah, that starting pitcher is cooked, and is gone. Did worse that Jose Suarez. That’s embarrassing. But the bullpen gave up their inherited runner.

7-0 Angels

Batting around the other team is fun. They should do this more often.

And the Angels kept on scoring with a run in the 6th on what should have been a triple, but was ruled a double for no reason.

8-0 Angels

Soriano was cruising, getting to the 8th before he had any trouble at all, that was when Walker crushed one to lose the shutout.

8-1 Angels

Jose Soriano finished the 8th inning, but wasn’t allowed to throw that complete game. He was pulled after an infield hit in the 9th. Oh well.

Too bad Moore gave up a 2 run shot.

8-3 Angels

Angels win!

Upcoming

Yet another game in Arizona tomorrow. And then up to SF for the weekend. The Angels are hitting all the western teams now in June, but still no A’s yet this year. Not until the 24th. Gee, thanks a lot schedule maker AI.

Just have to say ; Soriano pitched a great game. Why is the only clip of him giving up a HR ? If you want to show the Walker HR why not balance it with a strikeout clip or a double play thrown by Soriano ?

Just asking…

You wonder if Adell is going to be a guy that hits 30 homers in a season but bats .200 or whether he can improve as a hitter overall. There is no question that he has turned his defensive game around with hard work and I am rooting for him to become a better overall hitter as well.

Pulling HRs, like last night, needs to be placed in his mentality that is only for when he gets a hanger in that spot that he should pull it. He pulls over so many pitches on the outer half, sometimes it’s frustrating to watch.

I do hope he develops into a great overall player.

Seeing Soriano take another big step in his pitching was nice. Mentally, he was controlling that game and keeping the opposing batter guessing.

One wonders if Soriano will be a flash in the pan type. We shall see.

Encouraging to see him pitch so well.

8 innings from a starter, wow, so nice.

Is 8 innings from a starter the high point so far?

Maybe one time before? Soriano is just scratching the surface. His stuff has nice movement.

It must have been the Pirates that developed him.

Silseth sitting near Detmers, just above Suarez (which is saying something). Don’t we need someone else soon (like this week)?

Anyone know how Wantz, Daniel, or Rosenberg have been doing?

Was hoping to Silseth get these starts but, it sounds like he’s 1-2 weeks away barring any setbacks.
