Talk Like A Pirate Postgame

Aaaaaaaarrrr the Angels ever going to win another series? The object of the game be to score runs, ye lubbers! Steal some bases. Steal some towels from the hotel. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum from the mini-bAAAARR!

Finally, in the third inning, Cole Tucker walked the plank but Zach Neto hit into a doubloon play.

Those scurvy sea dogs loaded the bases in the bottom of the third and Edward Olivares hit a grand slam to make it 4-0 Pirates.

In the fourth, Nolan Schanuel singled and Mickey Moniak doubled. Peg Leg Schanuel got keel hauled at the plate.

Brandon Drury reached on a fielding error in the fifth, but Jo Adell hit into another doubloon play. Zach Neto unloaded a broadside in the sixth inning. 4-1 Pirates.

Cole Tucker and Logan O’Hoppe caught Andrew McCutchen stealing third.

The Angels got beat again today. 4-1 Pirates was the final score.

Since April 21, Drury is 2 for 34. What the hell happened to him?

This is more similar to the real Drury than last season.

Their numbers weren’t impressive on paper, but the bottom fell out with Rendon/Trout injury daily double.

Couple that with Ward being cold & Drury disappearing, this offense has little chance.

Positives

Neto – He’s got his BA up to .239 (.673 OPS) and is a nice threat in the 9/Hole. He needs to reduce his K rate, however.

Moniak showing signs of life with 2 more hits today.

Anderson is our best starter. Go figure. They should strongly consider flipping him a little early whilst he’s pitching so well. Not sure how sustainable this is for him.

Need Estevez, Moore, Sano & Drury to play MUCH better so that we can fetch a little something in return.

The Angels have scored 3 runs in their last 31 innings. That seems almost impossible for an MLB team to do that.

27-29 with 13 straight losses, Maddon had to go. Nevin took over and we went 46-60, followed by 73-89. Now this, 12-23 with 14 losses in the last 17 games.

Maybe it’s not the manager.

We look at other teams, like Baltimore or KC, or Cincy. Terrible teams and then, 3 or 4 years later they’re contenders.

We had 26 comments in the game thread. I’d like to see that echoed in attendance to where Arte *has* to sell but I fear if income is down he’ll just scrimp on salaries, both players and GM.

I wish I could have lunch with him some time so I could know what he’s actually thinking.

We could make him walk the plank, but he ate it.

You can’t really tell about a team until it’s played 40 games. That’s coming up in 5 more games. Doesn’t look good, though.

I don’t need 5 more games 🙂

Disagree with this statement Eric. I KNEW the Yankees would be good when they started the year 4-0 by sweeping the Astros in Houston. It only took me 4 games in that case, not 40.

I don’t have anything constructive to say right now, so I will refrain.

Twenty seven innings and 3 runs Sat-Mon. Hard to win doing that.

I didn’t realize that Kenny G was on our team wearing 8.

Hilarious Charles! On the funny end of laughing, as opposed to the sad laughing I get watching this “team”
