Shohei Ohtani made his first appearance as at the Big A as a Dodger and you can bet there was a ton of excitement. The Dodgers have pushed all their chips to the middle of the table, gone all in on 2024, and brought with them plenty of fans.
Those fans were quieted early on by Brandon Drury.
Miguel Sano started Spring Training as a longshot to make the team. Those long odds paid off as he was told today he’d make the Opening Day roster. He rewarded the Angels with a blast to push the lead to 3-0.
Ohtani definitely didn’t hit his player propositions, going 0 for 2 with 2 K’s against a really good Chase Silseth. Unless, of course, he took the under.
On the night Silseth was filthy until he wasn’t. He gave up back to back solo home runs and left with a line of 5 IP, 2 ER, 10K’s and 0 BB. His splitter was filthy.
The Dodgers weren’t going to fold. Adam Climber immediately gave up a solo bomb to tie the score at 3 in the 6th. From there on out a series of relievers took over and the uniform numbers climbed higher and higher.
Carlos Esteves looked really good in the 9th and the score was still knotted at three as the home team took their final at bats. Zach Neto legged out a 2 out triple to put the winning run at first base and Jack Lopez pushed him home with a single.
Light up the Halo! I don’t care what month it is beating the Dodgers is great!
