Shohei Ohtani will be addressing the media today about the “Ippei Mizuhara investigation.” But Shohei Ohtani will probably not miss any time due the the “Ippei Mizuhara investigation.” Oh no! They are probing. Where does the probe go?
The Blue Jays selected Daniel Vogelbach. He has a major league job for the time being anyway.
The Rockies gave Ezequiel Tovar a seven year extension worth $63.5 Million and released Bradley Zimmer.
Ji-Man Choi didn’t make the Mets opening day roster but did not opt out of his deal. He’ll be playing at Triple-A Syracuse for now.
Here are the rule changes for the 2024 season.
Orioles owner Peter Angelos died at 94 after an illness of several years.

This whole thing might convince me to finally get a Twitter account, pure gold on there sometimes.
Pete Rose: back in the 70s and 80s I wish I had an interpreter… I’d be Scot free

I wonder if Ippei didn’t bother to translate the anti-betting seminars at spring training those 6 years of springs shohei has participated in.
Yes, and every on of the MLB contracts that he has signed.
For Ippei – I wonder if Josh Hamilton is looking for a new accountability partner?
Ohtani (at best) is Butters
LOL, Hamilton wishes had $4.5 thousand left…
Duel scandals always distract
Toronto Raptors center Jontay Porter is out of the lineup and a subject of an NBA investigation into irregularities on prop betting involving him

Ruh roh
Bauer to have a pod cast about this sitch soon.
LOL
Unconfirmed reports are that famed detective Ace Ventura is on the case,. as Ohtani has been described as a unicorn.
Officers Malloy and Reed got this.
Actually it would be Friday and Gannon.
Roy Desoto and John Gage on standby as paramedics.
I’m thinking more like Cagney & Lacy or maybe even Turner & Hootch
Benson and Stabler
Ponch and Jon.
Toody and Muldoon
according to this, Nez and Manfraud knew something was happening days before Shohei…and didn’t tell him?

Maybe they forgot.
Nez and Man prolly just adhered to this
Well the conventional wisdom around some parts is that Ohtani is a man-child; naive to the ways of the world. He’s like Truman Burbank after escaping the “Truman Show” pod.
There’s even rumors that Ohtani had to get a body double for his honeymoon because he didn’t understand….
I wish I was able to go the game tonight or tomorrow and have a sheet with, “Free Ippei” on it. How long until the stadium goon squad pay me a visit?
I attended a Dodger game at the Latrine against the Gnats during Bonds late tenure. There were at least two steroid banners that were removed during the game-One had a syringe….
😆
The press should’ve known something was wring when Ippei’s resume said he attended four years at You See Arrr.
So Ohtani is like Chevy Chase is “Caddyshack” and has hundreds of thousands in uncashed checks just laying around his house?
I don’t think so.
Do I think Ohtani has a check register that he personally balances regularly?
Of course not.
I’m confident that Ohtani has financial people that manage his bank accounts and investments.
If Ohtani is to be believed and millions were stolen from his account, there had to be multiple people involved.
It would make more sense if Ohtani was living off the grid and kept everything in cash under his futon, or if he was Ron Swanson and kept gold buried throughout SoCal. In those cases, Ippei masterminding the theft on his own is plausible.
So, that time in OC taught Ohtani to avoided Richard Nixon’s mistake?
Just let Ippei take the heat, make sure he gets a job when the storm blows over.
meanwhile I’m sticking with my prediction of Ohtani “getting the night off” tomorrow.
Yes, to be fresh for opening day.
I keep struggling with whether or not I should feel a wee bit giddy about the dodgers having to deal with this stuff. Afterall, it does involve real people with real lives and real consequences. But then I am reminded it is the dodgers and I say to myself, I hope this is a cloud that hangs over their entire season.
I could be wrong but I’m inclined to take Ohtani at face value until I know differently. There’s nothing in his history that suggest a lack of integrity while his interpreter undoubtedly has some demons that he’s battling with.
He took FTX crypto money 🤷🏼♂️
He is either really dumb at doing his due diligence or really good at playing dumb. Maybe both
I think he is naive like a child outside of baseball. He didn’t realize helping Ippei was a crime when he did it. He thought having him go on ESPN was the right thing to do.
This may have even been his mom’s advice for all we know.
All of this now asks you to suspend disbelief
He helped out a friend, only to find out from his legal team, he just stepped on a landmine.
Ohtani is a babe, lost in the wilderness.
I’m inclined to disgree.
The Clausometer is moving up. Keep on believing!!!!
You could be right but it’s typically the opposite for me as I’ve got group of friends/coworkers that often call me jaded which isn’t intended as a compliment. As a kid from poorer areas where everybody tended to be “gaming”, I really don’t give much weight to what people say. Instead, I tend to look at what they do and also what their motivations are.
It could be that none of us know Ohtani at all and it’s just a magnificently well crafted PR campaign but… In my experience, people either have integrity or they don’t and it it doesn’t tend to skip attributes. For me, It’s a pretty developed spidey sense deal that I’ve learned to trust over the decades. Sometimes you do see the best and worst with the same person in the same day but that is the exception that proves the rule.
You think Ohtani gave the keys to his kingdom to Ippei?
I love my best bro and would take……a
bulletpunch in thefacearm for him, but he ain’t getting my PIN numbers.I worked at 4,500 person company with a CEO who was the Chairman Of The Horatio Alger Society (Rags to riches) and was by most accounts brilliant. His Executive Admin syphoned off millions from him for over a decade before getting caught. To trust is to be vulnerable.
Agreed. You gotta keep your mind on your money and your money on your mind.
Wesst Siiiideeee
He seemed a bit edgy in the interview. Guilty!!!

So now that Shohei’s camp is firmly in the “massive theft” story, I’m curious as to when actual charges will be filed by his/Dodger lawyers against Ippei for this theft.
Ohtani’s password to his bank account(s)
I can’t even buy $12 crap online sometimes without double verifications being sent.
I can’t even cancel a monthly $10 charge on my card without the 2FA!!!!
I can’t even make time to cancel my monthly subscription to Modern Procrastinator.
You can always do it tomorrow.

I’m glad it’s the Dodgers’ problem.
Yeah, I do enjoy that. Like I said earlier, the Blew Crew usually are close to the league lead in suspended MLB games. Their LH’ed golden boy had strike two (All puns intended) domestic abuse recently and got ejected from MLB. Just before he went into free agency.
Ippei took the samarai sword for his best friend.
This is exactly what happened.
