Well, at least we know Canning still has his arm intact, and that Estevez can still get outs.

Is it possible Adell has gotten worse? Not seeing the game but his batting average is .111 after that popout.

Velazquez playing CF. I like it. Maybe he’ll be able to play excellent defense there as well as at SS. Can cover for Trout when he needs a day off, and be a late inning defensive SS. Phillips sounds like a great guy, but I’d rather have Velazquez.

its going to be interesting where Squid lands – im thinking there really isn’t room for him in Anaheim and he’ll be in SLC this year

Phillips is a better outfielder right now. With Gio Fletcher & Rengifo the Angels dont need another infielder.

‘Squid has options left. he’s going to Salt Lake to open the season just like last year.

As good as Squid is at SS, just wonder if he’d be elite at CF as well. Phillips .063 average is disquieting. Sure, Gio, Fletcher and Rengifo can all play short, but none are elite.

Can we option Squid to SLC without waivers?

Its a sad world we live in when we would be excited to have Squids bat in the lineup versus Phillips.
I had to go through therapy last season after being subjected to so many Velazquez horrific at bats .

still bubble wrapped

Angels manager Phil Nevin told reporters over the weekend that Chris Rodriguez (shoulder) is still a couple of weeks away from making his Cactus League debut. The right-hander has been throwing bullpen sessions, he’s just a bit behind the rest of the Angels’ hurlers in camp. There’s still a chance that he could be ready in time for Opening Day. The 24-year-old hurler missed the entire 2022 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn capsule in his right shoulder.

Calling a team The Guardians makes it sound to me like it’s a bunch of old guys playing.
Anyone know how Cleveland picked that name?

They don’t call Cleveland The Mistake by the Lake for nothing, huh?

[[Tigger Alert]]

I understood the need to do away with the cartoonish Indian logo…why not change it to a noble, traditional looking Native American Indian?
If they needed to do it, Guardians works, has some historical significance in Cleveland.

There are these gargoyles or statues on a bridge there that they call the Guardians. They’ve been around a long time.

I see Charles’ explanation but I think they liked it because it retained the “ians” ending. I wish they’d gone back to the Naps.

The Cleveland Spiders. Cy Youngs old team.

Unfortunately the Spiders also hold the record for the worst regular season record of all time going 20-134 in 1899. The year after they got rid of Cy.
