Angels Swept by Mariners

It was supposed to be a series to derail the Mariners season. Something to make this last few months bearable. Alas, instead, this series has shown how far both teams have come since the brawl. The Mariners have become a playoff team, while the Angels are in 4th place in the AL West.

Touki Toussaint, the pitcher who came from Atlanta in the D-Cell trade and had a great start last time, floundered. He didn’t last long at all and lost the game early. 2 and 2/3, 4 ER, on 3 hits and 3 walks with 4 strikeouts.

But even then the real villain was cereal killer himself, Mike Mayers, going 5 and a third giving up 5 runs on 3 home runs. And just when we thought he fixed himself.

So it didn’t matter what the offense did. That Rengifo continued his hot streak. Or that Ohtani did something at the plate. Or David Fletcher doing David Fletcher things. None of them was going to be anywhere close to good enough with this large of a deficit this fast and quick. After all, throwing Duggar, Squid, and Kurt Suzuki out there was just giving up before the game started.

Lowlighted Recap

The Angels were in a hole early, getting batted around in the 3rd inning.

Touki, dude…
Dude stop
Bruh

4-0 Mariners.

At least Fletcher didn’t allow the team to get shutout.

4-1 Mariners

And maybe the team could have came back, but instead, Mike Mayers ruined it all.

One
Two

Seeing what the Shrek star was doing, the Angels tried to stop it by scoring again.

Yay Ohtani
Rengifo still hot

But 2 runs total won’t do much when Mayers gives up that in an at bat.

Three home runs.

The Angels were just giving up at this point, and Mayers was out there to rest the bullpen… with an off day tomorrow. Yeah. 9-3 mariners.

At least the offense kept trying. Shohei Ohtani hit in Fletcher with a triple in the 7th to make it 9-4.

TRIPLE!

And Taylor Ward made it 9-5 with a sac fly.

9-5 Mariners

Oh, and Rengifo left the game with a back injury. Can’t have nice things.

And Barria gave up a 2 out, 2 run home run in the 9th. Because why not?

11-5 Mariners

Which makes it worse since Ohtani hit a 2 run BOMB in the bottom of the 9th.

11-7 Mariners

On a day the offense (well, half of the offense) showed up, the pitching shit the bed. It was utterly embarrassing.

Angels lose, get swept by the Mariners. PAthetic.

No disrespect the curse of our collective fandoms but firing any one individual in this organization is just window dressing.

Perry sucks but is it really him making decisions?
Nevin sucks but he has a poor roster.
Roster mostly sucks but can the Angels develop?
Arte, Carpino and their whole frat house need to go. Not buying into anything short of that resulting in true change. Color me jaded at this point.

The bottom 5 spots in the Angels lineup batted … .100 over these 3 games….. and it doesn’t appear they are so good at fielding either…. so why are these guys playing?

I gotta say it again. These re-caps, with all the video clips, etc are 1000% better than I’ve seen on other team’s sites or on past Angels site iterations. These may be the best game recaps on the interwebs.

It’s gonna be so cool having these when the team doesn’t totally blow.

Or, if my dream comes true and the Angels become the Riverside Meth Savages. Then all the recaps will look like Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome…. two team enter one team leave! This will also be awesome.

It is really fun to watch. Even in this season where I’m skipping innings or whole games this is a nice quick thing to see a few highlights. Thanks!

Hes got 2. A filthy slider 82 to 85 MPH and pretty damn good change up that was clocked at 90 tonight. You can see examples of both pitches up above if you so desire.

So, when are halo playoff tickets going on sale?

Answer; 2024

Uh no. When Ohtani leaves the timetable moves back 3 years.

If the team is competitive in the AL West by 2024 it will be a major accomplishment

Not that it matters but Toussant is not the pitcher that came over in the D-Cell trade. That is Davidson.

Touki was a waiver claim.

No thats not right. Everyone knows that the centerpiece pitcher in the D-Cell trade was Jesse Chavez.

Can this team win 12 out of the remaining 44 games to avoid 100 losses?

100 losses should seal the deal on Perry’s career. Can someone logically survive two horrible years to begin a contract?

I think they could lose every single remaining game and Minasian still wouldn’t lose his job. That’s how little Arturo wants to win. As long as he can sell Ohtani tshirts, it’s just fine to him.

Probably right, there must be another 2-dozen .187 hitters out there he has yet to cycle through

There is no one who will take this steaming hot pile of garbage and make it a winner in two seasons. Firing GMs every few years only sets back the rebuilding.

Exactly. It may be steaming but its also finally starting to show some fiber in the pile

I think they have a solid chance to lose 96 and be the worst team by W/L in Angels’ history.

But realistically with Trout coming back, I think it’s going to end up around 70-92.

Dugar and Loup are exhibit A why this team just got their ass handed to them by Seattle. Their ceiling appears to be low for us. Loup especially is an absolute anchor to our relief pitching.

Well Mr. Poup get used to it because he’ll be with us next year too.

But I wonder if Duggar even made the flight to Detroit. Someone got bumped not that MNT is getting activated.

Yeah, I would not have been unhappy going into next year with Raisel as our closer.

His stuff is still quite good and one bad game really blew up his ERA.

This is what happens when you have a YouTube game. Although listening to the radio broadcast, someone was really heckling the Mariners when they were at bat.
