While thousands of fans came out to Angel Stadium for a free backpack and a nice night of baseball, the Angels delivered one and a half of those things.
Starter Patrick Sandoval’s night was productive in a confusing way, but he got the job nonetheless. Sandoval went five innings and limited the damage to a 2-run shot in the Gilberto Celestino (say that five times fast), despite dancing around trouble the entire night. On the opposite half of the bump, Twins starter Tyler Mahle turned in an impressive night, tossing six scoreless and allowing five runners to reach base. The Angels only mustered four hits all night: two each from David Fletcher and Luis Rengifo, seemingly the lone offensive bright spots these days.
On another bright side, Jo Adell flashed an impressive throw home to nail a Twins baserunner trying to motor on home in the third.
Super impressed with our two youngsters back to back games with their B stuff and they grinded to give the team a shot.
Wow, Fletcher and Rengifo 4 for 7. Everyone else 0 for 23, 3BB, 10Ks. Yuck.
Damn, will 2016 ever end?
After the Oakland anomalies, it’s comforting to be back to the normal routine
Good, now can we come to agreement that this Garbage Barge needs to sink and be rebuilt, buying our way is not working because the commitment to do so ends at a capped budget and this does not work. So, it is time to rebuild and from the inside out. It is hard to just keep getting worse and going backwards with no real plan to improve the team by Arte. So let’s just face the facts, we need to rebuild, does not matter if you argue that we don’t have the right personnel to rebuild because you have to recognize that rebuilding is the new plan of attack.
Sorry, guys, but I’m still buying the stench because I dont subscribe to a complete teardown. Theres no guarantee that it will work and is not necessary provided our owner finally spends outside of his norm as he did in 2004. The Doyers, one, if not the best team in baseball have never done a teardown. In fact lets look at their season results under the Kasten/Magic/Friedman regime:
2015 92-70 Lost in NLDS
2016 91-71 Lost in NLCS
2017 104-58 Lost in World Series
2018 92-71 Lost in World Series
2019 106-56 Lost in NLCS
2020 43-17 Won Texas COVID Tourney
2021 106-56 Lost in NLCS
They never did a tear down but keeping going and going even as they keep choking on their own fumes.
But boy Gpa, who pooped in your wheaties? it sounds like you are living life this season in extremes: Excessively optimistic for the first half and then projecting death and destruction and the end of days with next.
I miss the old GPB
GPB and his Stages of Grief.
Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance
People get this wrong alot; the Stages of Grief as outlined by Kubler-Ross apply to death and dying. It is not meant to be universally applicable to all kinds of grieving situations.
I don’t know, sounds pretty much like Angels TrAdition to me.
Spring Training = Happy
Start of season = Happy
Start falling in the standing = Denial
Continue losing = Anger
Small win streak = we start Bargaining
Still losing = Depression
Acceptance, still pic of Tank on thread
You cannot compare the Angels and Dodgers. The Dodgers have a steady stream of young talent they have drafted and developed You don’t need to do a tear down if you have that.
Tanking road, here we go!
It’s a strange feeling to be down early and thinking that the game is probably over at that point. With so many innings and at bats to go there is this void. This is what it is like for me watching the team this year. Hopefully next year will be different 🤷♂️
we might not see the shufflebot again this year.
I’m holding out hope he will be back at least once more
When you miss a game, as I did tonight, ask yourself… Did the game miss me?
It’s all part of the plan.
