LA Angels Monday News Crash: Breaking Bad

Bryan Cranston got himself ejected from the Celebrity Softball Game by kicking dirt on an umpire and throwing a bucket of gum over him. Cranston thought the pitch was inside but I guess it was just breaking bad. Also in that game, Vladdy Sr. came in to pinch hit for Bad Bunny.

Ky Bush got into a bit of trouble in the Futures Game but managed to get through his inning without allowing anybody to score.

The Tigers optioned Spencer Torkelson who just hasn’t been able to bat in the big leagues the way he does down in the minors.

The Cubs designated Daniel Norris for assignment to make room for Eric Uelman, whose contract they just selected.

The Rays reinstated Pete Fairbanks from the 60 day IL and designated Dusten Knight for assignment to make room on their 40 man roster.

The Nationals just re-signed Dee Strange Gordon to another minor league contract. Meanwhile, the Nationals will entertain trade offers for Juan Soto. Let’s face it, that guy will cost a bundle.

The Diamondbacks, for their part, are open to discussing a Christian Walker trade.

Trevor Story is on the 10 day injured list with a hand contusion.

It’s a revolving door between the Giants and their injured lists. Evan Longoria is reinstated.

Joc Pederson will play for team Israel in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

I was rooting for the AL, besides I don’t care for Soto, but I can become his best friend after Boras gets him a new contract for 500 million bucks. 😜

In case you didn’t know, the Angels lead the majors in strike outs (try not to act shocked).

Andrew told Arte, Arte told Carpino, Carpino told the SLC manager, the SLC manager told Perry, Perry told Trout, Trout told Ohtani, Ohtani couldn’t find Ippei – so he called his mom. Ohtani’s mom called Nevin, Nevin told the Salty Nuts Guy, and he was supposed to tell you.

smoke and mirrors. they buy their own tickets for $1 and give them away to boys & girls clubs, churches etc.

Been doing it for more and more the past 10 years. Its sad. Its a number Arte cares about but they clearly are faking it. Its like rigging your scale to think you lost weight.

Same tricks McCourt used, so desperate he was for a 4 million season, and that Colosseum “all-time single game attendance” record. Arte and Co. learned well.

No. It doesn’t. Not unless he finds all kinds of random money to attach to all those “ghost fans”. Just because he doesn’t have to show us his books doesn’t mean he can get a loan, or sell the team, or do anything involving “value”, without showing actual value to some nerds.

If he’s just inflating attendance numbers to feel good by giving poor kids cheap tix it doesn’t actually show up as the beloved per-caps at all.

Not this year. even with the smoke and mirrors hes only projecting out to less than 2.55 Million with 32 games to go. They’d have to really jam up those ghost ticket sales to average a sellout between now and the end of the season to hit 3.0 Million in sales. Even with Arte’s fuzzy billboard accounting thats not likely to happen.

That only projects out to 2.55 million. No way we make 3M this year. all-star game is not the exact halfway point … 49 games played – 81 home games. That means 49 home games before the ASG and 32 games after the ASG.

I know this may sound weird to a lot of you, but I truly wonder if Trout’s ribs/upper back thing stems from the hellacious season? It’s gotta be weighing on him, heavily. We unconsciously tense up under a lot of stress. And the dude’s built like a fullback (a FAT fullback); there’s a lot of dense muscle tissue there to pull a rib or two out of place.

And to the extent this is true, I don’t blame him. How can you stay calm and relaxed in the face of an epically CRAP season? He’s a very sensitive dude. I don’t blame him.

Does not sound weird. There have been times when I’ve had more injuries/illnesses spring up when things weren’t going so hot. It’s a real thing.

I’e wondered how hurt he really is. He had been speaking about needing days off, how the ASG is not really a break etc. I think the full on collapse and embarrassing losses have weighed on him.

I’m pretty sure he’s weighed down by concern over whether or not we really can fly a spacecraft full of technology related to the internet, tech that fails when it runs into things like walls, and rain, through the Van Allen belt. Trout hates dead astronauts.

Re: Joc Pederson will play for Team Israel: earlier it was reported that Ian Kinsler would manage that team. So: I had no idea Kinsler was Jewish as we on HH called him ‘ratface”, and given the deeper history there, I feel like a dick.

Not religious in any traditional sense, but this felt like Confession. Should I do 20 Hail Marys or stay out on the court until I make 20 straight free throws? How does this thing work? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

DowningDude

No sweat. Kinsler was exceptionally hateable after that get the “F” off the field nonsense. Pedroia was the rat, Kinsler was the biggest douche ever – nothing to do with anything other than him being a douche.

Thank you, Father.

Yea, yer right, but if I knew abut his background, I wouldda settled on the perennial favorite, “douche.” Not “ratface” or “ratboy.”

I really believe we used Rat to describe Pedroia and not Kinsler. Trust me – douche was the Kinsler tag.

Just crazy how we are worse off this season than last season, and the cast offs had us playing over .500 until the second week of September. While we slide down the standings (Good thing maybe?) the White Sox and the Giants have lost a lt of days to the IL as well.

The one good thing about watching the Angels now is Ohtani kicking ass and taking names. His pitching is just remarkably brilliant, and he leads us in hitting as well.

With Trout out we may not end up leading the league in striking out, that could be at stake, but keep the faith 👃

GrandpaBaseball

Just put Trout in a glass enclosure and call him Bubble Boy. Hall of Fame? I think so but it is amazing that his career is similar to Mickey Mantle’s career, except Mantle had way more power. It is very frustrating for Mike to constantly be breaking down I’m sure, disappointing as much for his fans too.

The Angels do have a pattern of doing the day- by- day approach and then the IL. Makes no sense, but since when have the Angels done anything that makes any sense in the last few years.

Good luck getting healthy Mike, see you when you are done resting up.

We also drafted a guy that really can only play DH today if his bat pans out.

Also Rendon is a guy that normally would benefit from a few DH days a week.
