Father’s Day Postgame

Here are some Angels expressing Father’s Day wishes.

Kenny Rosenberg got the start today against Logan Gilbert.

Inning #1: Taylor Ward started things off with a hit but Mike Trout hit into a double play to empty the bases for Ohtani, who then hit a flyout. Fortunately, Kenny Rosenberg also got through the first inning without giving up a run.

Inning #2: Nothing to see here. Move on. Kenny Rosenberg started to have trouble finding the strike zone in the Mariners half. The Mariners bailed him out by failing to reach base safely.

Inning #3: The Angels went three up, three down. At least the top of the order is scheduled for the 4th inning. The Mariners came up and swung badly at pretty much everything. Rosenberg only threw 33 pitches through the third inning. Still 0-0.

Inning #4: Taylor Ward reached to go two for two. It’s nice to have him back. Mike Trout hit the tenth pitch he saw over the wall in right center to make it 2-0. Shohei Ohtani lined out to center for the first out. Jared Walsh struck out. Luis Rengifo grounded out.

Ty France came up and drew a walk. Eugenio Suarez finally struck out after a ton of pitches. Rosenberg was still throwing the ball all over the place, though. J.P. Crawford singled to put two men on for Dylan Moore who grounded out but advanced the runners. Kenny Rosenberg proceeded to walk Jesse Winker to load the bases. Cal Raliegh grounded out to end the threat.

Inning #5: Stassi, Marsh, and Velasquez went down in order. Justin Upton doubled to lead off the Mariners half of the fifth inning. Abraham Toro made out, but Julio Rodriguez advanced Upton to third with a fly ball out to Taylor Ward. Phil Nevin brought in Jose Quijada to pitch to Ty France. There was a lengthy game delay but France finally grounded out to Quijada to end the threat. The grumbling continued in the game thread about Rosenberg getting taken out before completing the fifth inning.

Inning #6: Tyler Wade managed to single. Taylor Ward hit a fly ball out to center. Mike Trout struck out. Shohei Ohtani made the third out on a fly ball to left. Andrew Wantz replaced Jose Quijada on the mound. He struck out Eugenio Suarez and J.P. Crawford. Dylan Moore hit a fly ball to Mike Trout for the third out.

Inning #7: Ryan Borucki replaced Logan Gilbert on the mound. Jared Walsh grounded out softly to the pitcher for out number one. Luis Rengifo then singled and Max Stassi doubled him in to make it 3-0. Brandon Marsh single to get in on the fun. Max Stassi advanced to third and Marsh stole second to put men on second and third with one out. Unfortunately, Andrew Velasquez struck out. Tyler Wade chipped in the third out with a fly ball to right.

Aaron Loup now came in to replace Wantz and struck out the side.

Inning #8: Andres Munoz came in to pitch for the Mariners. Taylor Ward had a heck of a game! He singled again to lead off the eighth inning. Mike Trout struck out as did Shohei Ohtani. Jared Walsh came through with a liner to center that scored Taylor Ward. It was ruled a fielding error. 4-0 Angels. Luis Rengifo struck out to end the Angels’ half of the eighth inning.

Now Ryan Tepera is pitching. He retired Abraham Toro on a fly ball to Taylor Ward. Julio Rodriguez struck out. Ty France grounded out to third.

Inning # 9: Roenis Elias came in to pitch to Mad Max Stassi who grounded out to third. Brandon Marsh popped out to short. Andrew Velasquez struck out to end the Angels half of the ninth inning. Raisel Iglesias came in to close out the game. He got Eugenio Suarez to ground out for the first out. J.P. Crawford hit a fly ball to Brandon Marsh for the second out. Adam Frazier came in to pinch hit for Dylan Moore and struck out on three pitches.

Angels Win!

Good thing God loves So Cal fathers more than Seattle fathers.

Anyone else notice Ohtani deliberately trying to hit the other way all night? Didn’t result in hits, but I like the approach.

I hope and pray that Perry realizes that this season’s success will be predicated on the additions that he will make to this team in the next 4 to 6 weeks. Whether its the return of David Fletcher or the ascension of Michael Stefanic. or even a trade from another ball club ( which is highly recommended), Our success on whether we make the playoffs and beyond will come down to the success of those decisions and accomplishments in the ensuing weeks. This shouldn’t be a shock to anyone. The way this team was built, it was always going to come down to these critical moments.

Perry should go outside the organiazation and strike quicker than the competition. Angels farm sucks to be of any help. There are names that are available due to their club being out of contention or the players contract situation. The Angels did take 4 out of 5, but it was MNT that did 95% of the damage. This line-up needs a lot of help. I would not push the chips in the middle of the pot holding Fletcher and Stefanic as my hole cards.

Yep, we need a 2B, SS, 3B in our lineup that can pull weight in the hitting department. Realistically, we need at least two of those upgraded. Utility can fill in one, but not all of those spots like we have now.

Concur, 2 out 3 as a minimum. To help shed Lagares, an 4th OF too if Perry is steadfast to keep Adell down until later in the year.

Good point, a more potent 4th OF would help– having Ward back helps out a lot actually because when it’s Lagares + whatever 3 Amigos we get in the IF is really bad.

Maybe if Stefanic/Fletcher ever get off the IL we’ll finally have infielders. At this point, Walsh vs a lefty is still probably better than the other 3 infielders we’re running out there.

Maybe Loup and Tepera are remembering what they did early in the season? Please oh please oh please?

Well obviously this is the beginning of a 14 game winning streak and I’m happy about that.

Really though I’d like to see Perry find upgrades at 3B and 2B to get the lineup deeper so we can really reset and try to make a run.

Nice way to celebrate Dad’s day. I called him to be sure his present got delivered (assortment of Ken Burns PBS biographies, when you are 97 that’s mega excitement!) and then settled in to watch the game. The furbearing four-legged daughter sat with me and is finally getting used to her Dad yelling at home runs and stuff.

Unexpected 4 out of 5 and finally a series win. Angels finally turning things around.

Rosenberg a 2-hit shutout and 1 out away from a recorded win and Nevin takes him out. Bad move.

He deserved to get the win.

It was a fun weekend. Really enjoyed the winning. Let’s take the good things we have and address the weaknesses that are still there.

That Smith V Beterbiev fight…. not good. Smith reminded me of the Angels offense the last month. It looked like he forgot he had a fight that night till they brought him to the venue and made him put on his special time shorts. Off balance and really un-technical. Looked like a bar fighter going at a real boxer…. got his ass handed to him.

Smith has looked way way better than he did last night. It’s a shame.

My only concern is that competent teams are gonna start ya know….using their brains and not pitch to Trout. Hopefully the rest of the dudes can turn it up. Good to see Ward have a good game though.

Yes. I too expect to see this happen. It may happen as early as tomorrow night against the Royals since Shohei has been in a little bit of a slump. The obvious response is that both Shohei and Walsh (or whomever hits cleanup) will have to start making them pay for that approach.

Jules is Trout who is the BMF’er leading us through the Valley of Darkness, Vincent is the other 24 rostered Angels…Ringo is Jerry Dipoto who attempted to steal Trout’s wallet and Yolanda is the entire Seattle Mariner organization peeing itself.

It’s nice to win 4 of 5. That’s pretty much all there is to say…. unless you just HAVE TO work really hard at being the DoomDonkey.

KC+More Staettle+White Sox next…. Astros soon. We better get our ducks in a row.

Trout’s HR today was special, he was challenged with all Fastballs and then KA-Boom. Don’t f*ck with the G.O.A.T. baby because the GOAT will eat you.

Lot’s of laughs, but are the Royals considered a major league team still? 😆

I’d mock them, but since the Angel’s have a tradition of getting beaten by them I’m not going to.

Historically, the Royals have like, always kicked our asses. Not even Devon White and Wally Joyner and Marc McLemore could hold them back back then.

No no no no no… it’s all about dick swinging, yelling STFD at players on the Royals every they make an out.

I’m so happy for you, grand kids are just the best thing that can happen, second best to our own kids. Some call me Papa and others Grandpa, and I love them all. Remembering names becomes a challenge sometimes, especially at Christmas. Can’t wait until September when you tell us if it’s a boy or girl and that he/she is healthy.
