Syndergaard Changeup Roasted in Texas BBQ of Angels

A few years back I was in Dallas, and the Texas Rangers are more a Dallas team than the Angels are a Los Angeles team, and I had some damn good barbecue. One place was trendy and had a long line out the door but it was well-earned. The food was masterful, filling too and not as pricey as it would be in Southern California. That place was called the Pecan Lodge. Then I went to another place. The Lockhart Smokehouse. It wasn’t as trendy as the Pecan Lodge but it was just as amazing.

So my point is there is some good stuff in Texas but this game is not among that good stuff.

Noah Syndergaard didn’t make it out of the first inning, Jaime Barria did great, the rest of the team looked like the plane ride to Dallas had been piloted by Lee Harvey Oswald. Go get ’em maƱana…

Angels were roasting the ball, just bad luck. All pitchers are going to get creamed here and there.

On to the next!

ā€œWhen it rains, it pours,ā€ said Syndergaard, who missed most of the last two seasons with the New York Mets because of injuries. ā€œIā€™ve got to have a short-term memory, but I also [must] learn from mistakes, learn from this outing and make sure it never happens again.ā€

So no injury, just a bit of suck. Good.

And Ohtani’s double had an exit velo of 117.

One hundred and seventeen miles per hour!

So Thor had a bad game. I’m still just as jazzed.

Putting positive vibes out there and saying it was just a bad outing. Heck, Ohtani has had a few of those and came back and burned the barnstormed. Taking a step back and realizing I’m surprised we lost is kinda a nice though.

Sox came back and beat the Astros.

Put tonight out of your mind, itā€™s a wash.

Taylor Ward. Only two hits. None of them 5 run home runs. What a loser.

Though we did see a perfect example of how Tafoya may be an East Coast douche but she’s a douche with a point today. I was at work, got on my personal computer and checked MLB.com to see the score real fast…. and there it was folks. Holy SHIT! Shohei Ohtani hit a double. It was hit kinda hard! It was in Texas! We were already losing by 3 at the time! I texted everyone I love to alert them to the fact that a man in Texas hit a double. No one seemed to give a shit.

Through no fault of his own, Ohtani is becoming Jeter and it sucks. We need Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper and someone on the Red Sox to assplode for many home runs. What we really really need is for someone on the Yankees or Red Sox to become a 2 way player…. even a kind of lame one. That would do it.

Ohtani is an infinitely better and more interesting baseball player. I think most people are fine with it.

Worst best team evah. Why do I even watch this team? They don’t have Logan Webb. Is this the worst Angels team disguised as a pretty good Angels team? That definitely probably almost certainly could maybe be the case if I really want it to be. And I need it to be. Because Oligarch and stuff. Just turrable.

Record now 24-14. No reason to get too worked up over the loss. Thereā€™ll be another 63 of those and will finish 85-77.

I am curious to see…. Thor? Problem? Or just truly crap outing? Let’s see how the Angels pitching of unknown depth handles this…..

Thor had an off-game which happens to everyone. Last year Ohtani had an outing where he have up 7 runs at NYY. Barria did pretty well and stopped the bleeding. But Angel offense went flat after the 1st and is definitely an issue with this team. Hopefully that doesn’t continue..

Ohtani’s bad game was in humid AF conditions in NY, this was indoor in perfect weather.

I’d really hate to make a joke about how starting Romine over Wallach is the reason we lost for fear that people will agree.

We need Thor to get his zap back.

Romine stinks though. That first strikeout made me ill.

Pitcher/catcher chemisty didn’t seem to be there, but it wouldn’t have mattered last night anyway.
