Jo Adell and Brandon Marsh shared a Major League outfield for the first time tonight and hopefully gave us a glimpse of the future.
Adell made his presence felt early. He drew a walk and stole a base his first time up. Then, in his second plate appearance came his first MLB hit of 2021, a 2 run double.
Marsh cracked a long double to centerfield in the top of the sixth. He was denied an RBI due to a great relay by Texas which cut down Jose Iglesias trying to score.
Marsh came around to score on a bomb by Captain Jack. At that point the score was 6-1 and the only question was how many Cishek would give back.
The score was 6-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth because Jose Suarez had pitched very well. The wheels started to come off in the sixth as a lead off double was followed by a one out bomb, bringing the score to 6-3. He would get one more out, tying his longest MLB appearance, and be pulled giving up 3 runs and 6 hits. He struck out 6 while only walking 1.
Youth wasn’t the only reason for the W. Phil Gosselin’s first three plate appearances ended in RBI singles.
Adell added an RBI single following Goose’s third RBI single in the bottom of the 7th to stretch the lead to 8-3.
And the kid wasn’t done, adding another double in the tip of the 9th. By then the game was well in hand at 10-3.
Light up the Halo! Ohtani on the mound tomorrow.
