Labor Dispute News
It looks like we have our baseball! Let’s take a look at what led up to the announcement Monday evening.
The MLB Players Association has voted against the proposed 60 game season. The MLBPA Statement is here. Joel Sherman thinks Rob Manfred will have a telephone call with the owners tonight. (So what?) Well, they apparently decided to schedule the season. Bob Nightengale thinks Rob Manfred will not proceed to schedule a season, at least not in the next couple of days. (Apparently he was wrong about that.) MLB Trade Rumors discusses the topic in more than 140 characters, or 280, or whatever the heck it is. Buster Olney thinks this is all leading to mutually assured destruction. Trevor Bauer apparently agrees. In any event, the word on the street is that this is still not a done deal since there are still the issues about an agreement concerning health and safety protocols. Remember, these are the same baseball players who want to spit whenever they want to spit.
Other Baseball News
A-Rod and J. Lo are still trying to purchase the Mets. They have brought the co-founder of Body Armor sports drink on board. Does anybody believe that baseball franchises are not very profitable? Is baseball having a baby boom? John Means and his wife are expecting a baby boy. Bryce Harper and his wife, in turn, are expecting a baby girl.

New stadium design… not a fan.

Looks like the old stadium, minus the rock pile.
That is plain Ugly.
Also I like to walk around the stadium and this cuts off the Outfield.
How much are the Berm tickets?
I don’t know if it is really that important for them to put in a rendering like this, but where is the parking?
The drawing I saw had 2 separate parking structures, one off of Orangewood and one off of State College.
At this point, we are not even sure who will be playing for The Angels if the season does start. With the new COVID 19 positive tests not only on the Angels staff, but league wide, we may find some players opting not to play this season due to health concerns, and that could even include Mike Trout! With a new baby on the way, it wouldn’t surprise me if he opted out and I definitely wouldn’t hold it against him.
I think he’s playing.

‘I still don’t think the season will happen. Really, I’m taking a “seeing is believing” attitude. Any “positive” news coming out now means nothing to me. Actually, I am becoming irked with the players. Traditionally the owners have been the bad guys, but Tony Clark is not serving the players well as far as I am concerned. Alot of the players want to play, by continually throwing the owners offers back in their faces he is not heeding the cries of the players. They want to play ball, not squabble over less than ten games on the schedule.
The spitting thing has long irked me. If I’m at shortstop and Aybar is over there with a huge wad of chaw spitting all over the dirt I’m about to dive in, I’m pissed. It is gross to watch just on TV.
Health protocols will be interesting, particularly the plan for when players inevitably test positive. Also have to imagine no showers which will mean driving home/to the hotel while all sweaty (something I really don’t like to do).
Even after the grounds crew drags those things around the spit is still there. It has just been spread around. Great!
Bauer-Huff beef? I’m here for it
Curt Schilling jumped in…
