LA Angels Wednesday News Crash: Money Shortage

It is Wednesday, Angels fans. Time for your links! And AN EARTHQUAKE!

Bad News

Manfred is now allowing teams to not pay their employees. But only if they do not want to. (Which is about half a dozen teams at the moment.)

He also keeps trying to gut the MiLB. The reports of their demise has been greatly exaggerated.

Rawlings has laid off people in Costa Rica.

Good News

Manfred said baseball will return this season. Take this with a whole bag worth of salt though.

KBO starts May 5th. Best Korea.

LOL Mets. They might get bought for a low price due to their ineptitude. As they famously didn’t get sold for a ton of money not too long ago. Appreciate Arte in these times. Yes the Angels are on the list for teams paying people through May. The conflicting report is over, Passan is playing up the drama.

Why not relive old memories? Like this appearance of Spiez Head on Letterman.

Today is Earth Day! Now be good and wear your mask if you go outdoors!

The Astros were much better cheaters but were terrible at covering their tracks and were apologetic

Boston didn’t cheat as well but were more discrete, were good at the art of the cover up, deflecting the blame and contriteness

Of course Boston gets off lightly. Manfred is dunce. I’m just gonna blame it all on the replay official, give him a “really stern write up”, and just sweep the whole thing under the rug while everyone is doing the Covid 19 quarantine.

WTF is wrong with Manfred? Is he afraid of angering a bunch of drunk bigoted chowderheads and having them say bad things about him?

Why yes, yes he is.

This whole thing stinks.

First, it sounds very technical from a “legal” standpoint as to why people weren’t punished. Cora did not inform the players on the MLB rules for cheating, therefore, they can do whatever the fuck they want and not get punished. What the hell is that about? Manfred thinks we’re all morons who care about technicalities that he himself created, there are no laws about this. Manfred just created some bullshit and got the union to agree and now it’s ‘case-law’ in his mind.

Then, the signs only mattered when someone was on 2nd which is only 20% of the AB’s, therefore it’s not a big deal? Come on, this is a huge deal and the whole thing is being minimized in terms of it’s impact.fetchckvnejbbinriceevtdbunjdintjuhgflljnbehv

Then, this one random dude, making a fraction of the money anyone else makes, who probably gets a semi from all these famous, rich ballplayers throwing him love for giving them signs, gets thrown under the bus. Really?

Red Sox basically lose a 2nd rounder, no big deal. No player is going to fear the punishment for cheating, they are exempt from punishment!

A 3.8 isn’t a real earthquake.

I’ve felt plenty of earthquakes in SoCal starting with that big one in 1971. It wasn’t until a 3.1 in Calipatria that I realized it wasn’t the magnitude of the quake that was important, it as where you were related to the epicenter.

That 3.1 was the scariest I’ve been in out of all of them

Yep. 3.8 is generally, “Who farted?”

Perspectives on the earthquake (did not notice it in west SFV, BTW):

1. We don’t care. The Quakes are the Doyers’ problem, not ours.
2. The Earth was just getting an early start on Earth Day celebrations.

Whenever we have a small quake, I never realize it, because with our three cats (one a kitten, another an overgrown one) and three dogs (well, more like a dog and two wolves), there are always things falling and bumping and shaking around here. I don’t start to become concerned until I smell smoke.

Your zoo doesn’t freak out before you feel the quake?

Not a 3.8 quake. A 6, probably.

I don’t know what happened but when I tried to log in to CtPG this morning, I was greeted with a “Your account has been suspended” page. Sent a message about it to the Admins via Patreon and voila…………..I am now unsuspended! Has this happened to anyone else?
Stay safe all.

You were suspended until the powers at CtPG enacted a relief effort that will pay us 100% of what we were making before the suspension.

So in other words, I really didn’t piss anyone off…………….it’s imperative that I increase my efforts!

If Manfred gave the OK to stop payroll, does that include the Player’s? Just imho, eliminating 42 minor league teams will erode the fan base of MLB a little each year. ARod and JLO are buying into part ownership of the Mets. MLB has lost it’s Moral Compass or should l say this just proves the loss of a Moral Compass. Allowing a proven cheat and liar to own a portion of a team is just wrong. Manfred really does need to be replaced.
I hope everyone is safe and healthy this morning, sincerely.
