Mike Trout doesn’t respect cheaters (Astros)

It’s Monday morning and someone forgot to post links (me). BUT the Angels position players are in camp and this is awesome news. Not only are they in camp but they are being interviewed and of course are being asked about the Astros cheating scandal. Normally non-controversial Mike Trout had some things to say about it.

Anthony Rendon was up next after Trout but he was a bit softer on the situation (too soft).

While we are at it, Rob Manfred had an odd press conference yesterday but this whole scandal. No idea why he felt the need to speak on it more but it also didn’t help the cause one bit.

Happy first week of Spring Training games!!!

Well, it looks like Arte answered some questions regarding pulling out of the trade. Sounds like The Dodgers may have asked for a “little more” and Arte got pissed.

Sounds like Arte throws a Shot at Stripling for that emoji

I am still curious what prospects the Dodgers asked for in the trade. Rengifo claims he was never notified by the Angels of the potential trade so it really never got that far along. If Arte is sincere about picking up a legit pitcher to add to the rotation then he’s right about nixing this deal. Not completing the Doyer trade saves him almost $10 million in this years payroll as well as potential prospect capital he can use to trade for the ” Big Whale” this summer.

If Arte was sincere about picking up a legitimate starter, he would have afforded one already.

Damage control, after agreeing to answer questions when he already forgot about his botched trade.

Was thinking he would get an Astros question tossed his way, knowing he would have to defer it to ManBearFred, but got sideswiped with the Dodgers fiasco.

site oddness: although I’ve clicked “keep me signed in” I occasionally have to log in and when I do I get an email saying there’s been suspicious activity.

I’m already logged in by then and it’s asking me to “verify and log in”. It’s a small nit. It sends me back to the panic years of the malware 90s.

Suggestion for Astros Justice: The Astros players need to take responsibility for the damage they have done to the league, the sport, and their own franchise by imposing a self punishment. EVERY ASTRO SHOULD TAKE THE FIRST PITCH whenever there are no runners on base, AS AN ACT OF HONOR, until the Allstar Game. Meaning in every single at bat without runners on base, the Astro batter would forfeit the first strike as an offering to the God’s of Baseball. This is how you hold the league together, tamp down the animosity, and bring honor back to the league. Starting 0-1 for 3/5 of the season is a serious handicap, and would cost the Astros, but there has to be a way for these players to redeem the game.

Dan Patrick brought that up last week… just start every AB down 0-1

So, the Astros should provide the league the handicap that Trout has been giving the league the past 8 seasons. Sure, why not? 🙂

He does have one rule: Almost always take the first pitch. “I did that in the minor leagues,” Trout said. “I took until I got a strike. I think that helped me understand the zone.”

Trout already does that and seems to work fine for him.

Topical because Soth didn’t care for analytics and didn’t know what to do in the playoffs

Someone brings up how that’s a shot at Soth, but he replied saying that it wasn’t.

That was probably more of shot at A.J. Hinch for not having a big enough sack to tell his players to knock the shit off. But ironically , it fits Dave Roberts to a tee the last 3 seasons. Who, well you know the story.

Mike Trout is Trending on Twitter, his comments are the biggest news in Baseball. Rob Manfred is completely finished and is a dead man walking (figuratively), should resign before the opening pitch. Manfred has forfeited his authority on the central issue of baseball, a fair playing field is not an acceptable fail for a League Commissioner. Forcing every player to advocate for fairness in the sport, in the face of cheating and injustice, means Manfred is finished forever.

The owners love ManBearFred. Look to find just how many have spoken up on this, or our issue with Scaggs.

He is the spokesman for the owners, he is doing a fine job of deflecting the flack. Rules change anyone? Hm?

Anybody want a pair of free tickets to next Sunday’s game against the Rockies? I have a pair (section 18, row H, seats 1&2) I can’t get rid of. My wife went and got a concussion a week ago and isn’t up to making the trip. Jessica, is it ok if people put their email address in the comment thread? I have physical tickets and will have to mail them.

In cases like this, instead of a bunch of people replying with public info, I suggest you donate them to CTPG and then they are part of a contest, like that drives content or participation, so it’s a win for the whole community.

Manfred is a fool. I don’t agree with beaning hitters but explicitly stating he won’t stand for Astros hitters getting beaned and there will be severe penalties is a terrible look. Just let it be. Don’t comment. You look like a dumbass already, and now you look like a double dumbass.

Mike Trout is bad ass.

He had to do something. People were premeditating the action of beaning Astros players.

By not saying this, the League could have a few extra class actions filed against them.

Right now it is all damage control, to keep the boys that work in D.C. away from the owners.

Only one person not on the Astros band wagon believes the Astros Altuve did not cheat, harold Reynolds who defended the Houston Astro hitter this A.M. Embarrassing watching someone l respect trying to defend the undefendable. l have been consistant in my take on this from the gate, the commissioner should never have cut the player’s slack, should pull the title, trophy, and money back from the players. A vacated title means more to the sports integrity than finding the team a measly 5 mil.. Now Dusty Baker wants MLB to protect his players from retrobution. Call Larry H. Parker at 1-800-WHAA. The MLB Player’s are the one’s who are upset that the Astros cheated and nothing is being done to the cheaters. MLB can still do the right thing and show some real respect for the game.

Harold Reynolds is just doing his Harold Reynolds thing. He will be a contrarian just to be one and get publicity. Even he doesn’t possibly believe the stuff that he says.

Manfred just looks like a fool. He sent a memorandum about using technology to steal signs to the GMs but didn’t relay these rules/codes of conduct and probable penalties to the players the players and coaches themselves too? Though frankly, anyone with even a little bit of common sense would know it is against the rules, which all the players involved knew it was.

No way the players did this without cooperation from the team. That said, the players (especially the ringleaders) needed to be punished. This was not done well, and this is why we are in this situation. If they had come down hard on cheaters (like they do with anyone caught doping once the rules were in place), it would have been taken care of. But we KNOW players cheated, and it seems like they are getting away with it because they organized it themselves. WTF?!!?

If Mike Trout is speaking out against you, you know you fucked up. You won’t find a more “don’t rock the boat” guy in MLB.

Dude just wants to play, probably more pissed off he’s being asked about it, lol. Fish man is 100% on the money.

Take their rings, Manfred! Goddamn coward. Listen to your best player.
