LA Angels Wednesday News Crash: 50 Wins Finally

Morning Angels fans have some links.

Angels News

The Angels finally won their 50th game of the season Tuesday night in Houston. That was due to another pitching gem, this time by Klassen. Just in time for Kikuchi to come back…

Reminder that Jo Adell has 2 promos the rest of the season. They will still be given out, unlike some teams which throw them away.

Around Baseball

Football season already? No, it is the Mariners being losers. Brewers shut them out 22-0.

Seriously, the Mariners were comedic, with Julio allowing 2 runs by forgetting how many outs there were. AL West is a joke.

Jo Adell found his power in Ohio. A massive 455 foot home run.

Dodgers are so rich they can allow their bad players to go on the IL and get fixed and not care. Like Diaz with a “back” issue.

Murakami broke the Cubs jumbotron. Well, killed a few pixels, but still.

A reminder that MLB players are like the rest of us. Sometimes. Because the White Sox rookies had to go get the team coffee.

• Gordon lights out again. Maybe see him in Anaheim in Sept?
• Nimmala jack.
• Cozart also jack. Of all the deadline pickups, he’s been the most impressive.

Detmers, Wally, and now Klassen. Who knew developing starting pitching was so easy

If you squint, you can see the foundation for a good pitching staff. It’s the Angels, so it won’t develop, but still.

The best part: Detmers age 27, Klassen age 24, Walbert age 22.

Klassen took a huge step yesterday and looks to be a gem. It reminds me of my conversation with a couple of guys in a restaurant in Cooperstown the week before Ichiro was inducted. These guys were New Yorkers, one was a reporter, and the first name he brought up was Klassen. He told me the kid had an immense amount of talent and that if he stays healthy, he will be a really a really good pitcher in an MLB rotation.

He so reminds me a little of Detmers early on. One game lights out, one game he can’t spot his secondary so they can tee off on him. Can have control issues – can get hit, but can be shut down. Looked fantastic last night. It’s going to take some patience in my opinion.
