Detmers’ suffering finally ends as Angels win 1-0

Reid Detmers is the most miserable active Angel. While Mike Trout chose to stay here, even telling the new gm he wants to be a 1 team player, Detmers was almost traded to the Cubs, to a team in a divison race, but that was dashed. The trade being a fake online. Emotions manipulatived.

In addition, he continues to be amazing, yet gets no run support. Pitching wins are not what they used to be, obviously, but they still care some about it, especially when he still hasn’t won at home this season. It is just endless bad luck and suffering.

Today, he went 8 innings giving up no runs on 2 hits striking out 11 and walking none. No run support. Again. Because life is pain. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something.

11k

So today I am selling you hope. Not for playoffs. But for any joy at all. Because Detmers won today!

Highlighted Recap

This was a pitching duel. Highlights were of the defensive kind today. Like this catch by the Royals in the 7th.

Son of a….

Detmers went through 8. Still no runs. He was destined to have another no decision yet again. But then Nolan said “No.” And drove in the first run of the game in the bottom of the 8th!

1-0 Angels

1 was all he was allowed though. And Ben Joyce had to save it for Detmers first win at home this season. He did it! Angels win!

Upcoming

One more vs KC and then no baseball Monday. First off day in a while.

Last night was the first 1-0 win at Angel Stadium since April 4 when they beat Seattle in the 2nd home game of the regular season.

In looking at “outfield help” in Salt Lake City, Nada is it, I guess. Christian Moore and Kyren Paris have played very little outfield this year. Rocket City youngsters look like they need another year in the minors. Nada has little power but if he can get on base, maybe someone get lucky and drive him in. (Maybe trade a pitcher for an outfielder that is “one too many” for another team.)

Is “Nada” a misspelling or nickname of Nelson Rada?

Is that Rollie’s grandson? Can he pitch?

Can’t pitch and can’t type correctly. But the index one can clean out a nose. That is the limit of abilities.

Nada worked better as a bit.

Detmers was USDA Grade A Prime “Panther” last night.

It was overheard being whispered in the clubhouse that “we don’t need no stinkin’ Maddux”

I don’t know what “Panther” means in this context, but, definitely agree.

I wonder if the Cubs are sighing in pain now. I hope so.

“Panther” is part of the legacy of “Halos Heaven”. There used to be an article named “The Lore of the Panther” that explains it all, but sadly it seems to have fallen off into the bit bucket.

Looks real good, but we’ve got to find another bat in the lineup that has consistent power.

Just for reflection. The Brewers are 76-48 and in first place NL Central. We watched them the other day and they put the bat on the ball, apparently. It is a team constructed offensively “on contact, apparently.” 30th in Home Runs, yet 5th in runs scored. And then 29th in most Ks batting. And Second in WHIP.

Playing fundamentally sound baseball is conducive to winning? Who knew. Perhaps we should try that.

Please mix in a little situational bunting competence & stolen bases and I’ll be sound a pound.

And yet even with those numbers people will say stuff like he’s a number 3 starter. Ugh….. NO.

Great game. Detmers and Joyce slams the door. The more I see Joyce, the more I see the UCR HIghlander Troy Percival Play the Kids and watch out baseball.

Incredible game. Detmers deserved that win big time.

Pretty fun energy at the Big A tonight with the KISS promo.

First game for Detmers sans Maddox. A chance to look and prepare with data and stats and he looked amazing.

That was “locked in” Detmers. I didn’t think it was legal for an Angels starter to go more than 6 innings!

I’m starting to warm up to the idea that he’s worth keeping around.

I hate that he doesn’t hit for power but he adds value in other ways.

He hits doubles and gets on base and now is driving in runs and fielding like a Major Leaguer.

Best game I’ve seen Reid pitch. Two times during the game he set down 11 in a row with 11 K’s, zero BBs. Fucking Filthy.

How many teams are regretting their Detmers no-trade decisions?
