Here’s my take on recent events. Thus far, change has been incremental and we have a long way to go. the 2027 season May happen only partially or not at all. We’re not likely to be a competitive team in 2028 so anyone who is a FA after that is of little use to us if we don’t plan on extending them.

1. We fired our incompetent GM and hired a real one.
2. We made an attempt to adjust our draft strategy
3. We traded away some players, only 2 of which had any actual value
4. We added some badly needed minor league assets
5. We still have the same manager, but we got rid of 3 unproductive guys who he insisted playing everyday, forcing him to play better people without actually telling him to. Like them or not, O’Hoppe, Soler, and Adel were black holes in the line up and at least 2 of them will be replaced by better hitters. The catching position remains a black hole but we may have replacements ready by 2028 which may be the first time we actually need them.
6. We positioned ourself well for 2027 if there is a significant work stoppage and 2027 was going to be a lost season anyway and Arte is still making money.

We have a long way to go, but with the exception of Soriano, the team may actually be better off than it was.

Not being able to successfully trade Neto and Detmers was disappointing unless you plan to keep them long term.

Nothing of any real significance may happen for a long time if there is no 2027 season.
