Schanuel will end the year with his usual slash line of .270 / .350 / .380 and 2 WAR and we will all agree he is the least of this club’s issue.

Yeah in general I don’t get what we are doing here. Sitting Peraza for Soler or Walton in a lost season just makes absolutely no sense. Guzman and Moore should play every day for as long as they are on the MLB roster.
I do like that the org has been better about holding guys in the minors this season. They shouldn’t get called up and starting burning service time just to have their teeth kicked in by MLB pitching. But I don’t think this is what you were referring to.

The hope for short term cash relief is the only thing that makes sense. I like my chances of winning the powerball tomorrow better than the odds that any team takes the rest of the Soler contract (unless the Angels add legitimate prospects). The Soler trade was a bad idea that was worked out poorly. He’s a sunk cost at this point.
Madrigal might have had a tiny bit of trade value and I’d rather have him on the roster than Soler.

To answer your question — promotions can squeeze fringe guys off a roster but there’s enough room to keep all the ones you want, just takes a bit of roster maneuvering.
