Record after 18 games last year: 9 – 9.
After 18 games this year:
9-9
Detmers was excellent tonight.
Detmers was excellent.
True the record is the same as last year’s, but the Angels have scored 90 runs while giving up 89 runs this season. Last year they scored 79 while giving up 88. We’ll see how improved the offense is compared to last year, but I am optimistic on this change sticking.
After starting last season at 12-12, they went on a 7-game losing streak, so let’s see if the script changes much.
Tomorrow night, Silent C. Thursday, ???
Italian Sam
Last night left me starving; tonight I feel Stoned AF. Great to see Reid bounce back from Detonation status. I’m cautiously optimistic.

Reid was spectacular, the bats dominated, Oswald Peraza had his revenge game.
Maybe it’s best for me to enjoy the ride and not overreact after each game. This team is drunk on fun.
LT👼🏼U !!!
…and Teodosio got a hit!!!!!
Reeeeeeeeeid. The guy can be a No. 2, no doubt
I think he can be….
more so than Kikuchi?
#4 pitcher Yusei Kikuchi?
yeah, that guy
Based upon how they are looking now, yeah. Detmers was in complete control tonight. In contrast Kukuchi seems to lack confidence in his fastball.
He’s a nibble gremlin
Very good outing in progress with Chase Shores in Tri-City – hasn’t given up a hit in four innings, 5 Ks, a dozen whiffs. Only 55 pitches thrown.
Would love to be very wrong on this pick – Rex seemed to be the lone enthusiast at draft time. While I predicted the Angels would draft him, and they did, I also thought the second round was rather rich territory for an oft-injured reliever with chronic control issues. The Angels haven’t had great luck converting relievers to starters.
But did they break the pattern with this guy? Shores looks like a beast at the moment. Durability and health will be the next test.
Thanks for the report, sounds intriguing
Dude is huge. 6’8″. Getting whiffs on everything tonight. 7 Ks, 65 pitches, 5IP.

Thanks for the update!
Respectfully, I hope you were wrong about Shores!
I do too. I wouldn’t even feel bad, since I’ve hit the jackpot on my Kade Anderson, Anthony Eyanson and Taitn Gray calls thus far. 🙂
I’m very satisfied with my alternative draft, but it would be great for the Angels after half a decade of weak drafting to hit on a couple of their contrarian stock picks.
Appreciate the report, TT!
Hitting on Bremner and Shores would be Perry’s magnum opus
any opinion on Talon Haley thus far?
Haven’t watched his second outing yet – was an early start today. Was much more filled out and strong-bodied than I expected in his first outing. Obviously still learning to pitch. Glad they’re challenging him.
I’d say you need a lasting body of work before achieving a magnum opus, lol, but hitting on two Top 50 picks, including at #2?
Least he could do!
When do we know the decision on Soler?
I’m shocked he wasn’t out for the Yankees series.
When an MLB player appeals an in-season suspension (usually for on-field altercations or drug policy violations), the suspension is paused, allowing them to continue playing immediately. The appeal goes to an independent arbitrator, delaying the suspension until a final ruling is made, which often takes weeks or months.
Key Aspects of the Appeal Process:
Thanks for sharing this Bluto. I had no idea the process could take weeks or even months !
All my memories of appeals had the player in question receiving a decision within days …l
The other guy appealed and got his reduced to 5 games already, right?
He already “served” his suspension out and pitched tonight
