First highlight of the game was Mike Trout stealing another base. Jo Adell got the only hit of the game through three when he singled in the second. Neto and Lowe walked. So far at that point it was a combination of a pitcher’s duel and a mild LOBster dinner. 0-0 tie through three.
For the middle innings, the Angels had men at second and third with one out in the top of the fifth thanks to a double by Oswald Peraza. Zach Neto sruck out. Mike Trout was walked to load the bases with two outs. Nolan Schanuel grounded out to short. Grumble grumble. In the sixth, the Angels got men at second and third with no outs thanks to a Soler walk and a double by Jeimer Candelario. After two frustrating outs, Logan O’Hoppe singled in two runs. 2-0 Angels.
Jose Soriano flashed some leather in the fourth inning.
Jeimer Candelario also made a nice defensive play in the bottom of the fifth.
Oswald Peraza had a pretty big night with a double, a single, and a walk.
The Angels won 2-0 in a close game.

My new slogan: Sori and Kuchi, then 3 days of something that rhymes with Kuchi and is funny in some way.
Sori and Kuchi
And 3 days of dookie
Rodriguez can be a big boost if he comes back healthy
Sori and Kuchi, then 3 Days of Fuchi!
Soriano’s play against the PCA bunt was Gold Glove caliber. That is not an easy play against a fast, aggressive runner.
So we can win when Soriano pitches.
Good pitching match up tomorrow. Let’s see who wins the series.
Good job good show
To be considered an “Ace”, you have to be a dude that consistently put an end to losing streaks. Soriano did that today.
Re: Bachman, he probably has the best “stuff” amongst our merry band of castoffs & never has beens in the BP.
Trout hasn’t had a hit in 3 (or 4?) consecutive games, but, he did draw 2 walks and swiped another bag.
Good bounce back win.
Grab tomorrow and we come home with a winning record.
Looking at the past 5 games (including tonight’s), it seems Mike has gone hitless the past 2 days and in the 3 before that he had 5 hits in 11 at bats. He might be better than you remember.
Cool.
Perhaps the best stat thus far is 9 walks vs. 6 strike outs.
I suspect he’ll be the DH tomorrow.
He roped one 111 mph off the bat, just right at someone.
Nice win today. O’Hoppe coming alive. Soriano pitching well. Looks like Silseth, Pomerantz, and Romano are the bullpen for now. Bad weather but a win anyway.
Bachman has not given up a hit yet in three innings. (Has walked four though.) Can’t give up on him yet.
Not giving up on him but the damn base on balls continue to be his nemesis. I don’t like that if he is supposed to be a key arm in the pen.
I’m shocked his stuff is as electric as it is after all the injuries. Thoracic outlet syndrome is no joke.
Yeah, I don’t know why Bachman was not pitching the 8th.
Ohoppe definitely needed that
Happy Soriano managed to get the victory as he deserved it; Rest of the team took the night off.
Playing in 30 degree wind chill isn’t easy.
The hitters did yes. Bullpen kept it scoreless.
Soriano and Kikuchi – solid 2/5 of a rotation.
Romano and Pomeranz – not done yet.
This is the template — solid pitching, clean defense, timely hitting. Jose CYriano 12 scoreless innings to begin the year!
LT👼🏼U!
Too bad Sori can only pitch every fifth day !
Just need him to show up at home.
Yes, that is key. Last year the splits were pretty dramatic.
Moncada at third and he doesn’t make that play. No way. Zero chance. None.
Agree.
Knock knock
Who’s there?
Denzer
Denzer who?
Denzer Guzman, starting 3rd baseman
Always nice to win a game when the team was 5-32 and 1-14 with RISP.
Nice win, especially considering that our first four batters were 0-15.
LTBU Soriano with his second Cy-worthy start. O’Hoppe breaks out of his early-season slump. Pomeranz redeems himself in the highest-leverage moment. The Halos battle the Baltic Chi-Raq weather to get back to .500.
