Angels look to win it at home tonight. Let’s see how this goes for us.
Angels vs. Red Socks Game 1 Gamethread
I was gonna watch this game, then I realized i could do something better like sit in an empty dark room alone.
A short time ago Siri had great plate discipline. Now he swings indiscriminately.
it’s like they all just want to go home to their families or out to the club if they don’t have a family. Probably like when Joe Maddon was getting to the stadium a few hours before game time having tee times on game days. There is no accountability on this team from Moreno on down.
Regardless of how we’re doing Kurt Suzuki says the guys are all working hard on all the right things. So there is that. Kurt lives in a dream world.
Reminds me of my 8th grade algebra teachers. He always said he didn’t care how you did it, he cared about right answers. The results matter. So if all the players are working hard on all the right things, then we must just have the wrong players.
If we had a team full of Zach Neto’s our team OBP would be Top 10 in MLB and our SLG would be 1st. Yea he has his faults this year for sure, but he can actually hit. And he hits way better on the road because Angels Stadium is not a good offensive park.
And our defense would be worse and we’d lead the frickin world in K’s. Not to mention the blistering .220 avg.
Neto coning into tonight is .225/.321/.449, so slugging is his strong suit this year and his OBA is about average. His BA is a little low, but the fact that his OBA is 100 points higher than his BA is a very good thing which reflects his walk rate improvement this year. Prior to this year, he never walked. It’s a very interesting mixed bag with the improvement in his walk rate but he’s having a bad defensive year along with the high K rate. And his base running this year has not been good. He’s been thrown out trying to steal in almost half his attempts.
Is Gubie on crack? Neto has so many errors, leads the league in strikeouts and is batting under .225. How is that Allstar caliber?
Battle of the bottom-feeders tonight. Apparently the Angels bottom is lower than the Sux.
Credit where credit is due running down pop ups is something Nolan is really good at.
