As a starter perhaps, but as a reliever he’s maintained a 2.16 ERA since 2020. Had a long stretch of injury but came back pretty strong last season.

It’s been better but very limited action. His signing felt like Loup/Stephenson all over again. I see 49-innings of work over 4 years and the Angel GM reacted on a 1-year body of work.

He had elbow surgery and was out for three years, lol.
He appeared in 57 games last year – it wasn’t a small sample for a reliever, and Minasian picked him up for cheap.
Ever since he was traded go the Brewers in 2019, when healthy, he has been a very effective reliever.

That’s kind of my point, he had not been doing it for recent consecutive years. I’m of opinion looking at stats 6-7 years ago is just too far back to establish any kind baseline, muddied even further by a serious arm issue. Agree though TT, he has been better out of the pen.

I like my late inning relievers to have a plus fastball. You need to be able to throw the ball past people late. That is my bias at least.
