Give me the good guys in Bright Red
If what I read was true, I get to watch Halo baseball for free since i already have FanDuel. $99.99!? They were out their G** damn mind.
Silseth can’t throw strikes for going on what, 4 years now? He still looks out of shape as well, crazy.
Frazier only has two strikeouts in 16 plate appearances. Lefty that can field at 3B, 2B and LF (and SS in an emergency).
Just self-evident that he should make the team.
Rada CF
Neto SS
Trout LF
Adell RF
Soler DH
Schanuel 1B
Moore 2B/3B
O’Hoppe/D’Arnaud C
Frazier/Guzman 2B/3B
Still a little fragile on the infield, with a K-heavy middle of the order, but it’s a passable offense with a litte upside.
I sure would like to see Moore given a shot – but I’d have a short leash with the other guys at their disposal. I am biased – but I think Madrigal could return to his first two years form and his #4 overall pick. Give him some more reps in AAA – and if Moore struggles and Madrigal performs – swap them out. Not sure I’d be ready yet for Rada at the top – but wow does he look like the old-school version of a lead off.
What are your reservations with Rada at leadoff? I keep hearing “his age”, but he’s at AAA already, and has had two strong spring training seasons in a row. This isn’t a competitive season for the Angels, so there’s little downside, and Rada’s likely to be idling in 2027 in a lockout situation, so challenge him now.
I’d rather see Madrigal prove his mettle in AAA initially, as he’s a righty and the current lineup has few lefties outside of Schanuel (and an injured Lowe). Rada and Frazier add a little variation.
Probably just apprehension for how young he is. I’m super excited to see how he does at the top level. I got excited about Paris too last year – lol. I think I’m just scared to believe in the stats. That’s all. Your argument is compelling for sure. We could use a break and for him to keep progressing – that’s for sure. The games I watched him – though limited – on a few televised minor league games on MiLB.tv – I loved his approach. I want to watch more – I think I have a great comp if he materializes. I want to watch a little more before I give it.
Rada’s avg up to .313 now, with an OBP over .500. Just hit that last one against Gavin Williams, for pete’s sake.
It’s just abundantly clear that Rada should be the opening day centerfielder with Josh Lowe on the shelf. Trout should be in LF, as he should have been for the last 4-5 years.
You can see why I had few reservations about putting him at the top of the order in most of my IIWPM scenarios. In a lost season and developmental year, there’s little reason not to.
It’s not like you’re going to crush the kid’s confidence if he underperforms in April and May – he’s not coming to the MLB with high fanfare like Adell, Trout or Moore. He’d be coming into the season as an underrated, under-the-radar, too-young prospect with lots of horizon ahead of him.
“Too windy for fireworks today” sez Trent Rush.
We’ve had two days of fierce winds in SoCal, so I imagine that front has moved south to Arizona.
Seems like it wasn’t really an obvious bungle – combination of losing it in the sun then a sudden wind shift changing the ball’s trajectory.
Definitely something funky was going on. I’m just thinking of myself in little league or Rec leagues bungling plays like that and how embarrassing it feels.
Yeah – the broadcasters were discussing it at length, so I’m just following their lead. Said the wind had changed three times in a few minutes, and Rada was clearly struggling with the sun given the time of day.
He’s usually faultless tracking balls, but he’s also playing out of position in an unfamiliar park, so I imagine it was a challenging play.
Candelario just seems like such fools gold. He put up negative WAR two seasons in a row in the most fortunate ballpark for hitters outside of Colorado.
Yeah could be a Spring Training, small sample size mirage. Not gonna help his case with that defense either
So guarantee they work the 3-6-3 in spring. But can almost assure you they don’t make it that hard. They practice the routine. I’m not saying that play isn’t makable, but it’s hard to go that far – find the base and see the ball coming. Would rather see Detmers get there – he can use some peripheral vision on it.
I love watching opposing teams broadcasts, get to hear the announcers brag about how we haven’t won in a million years
