Quiet Afternoon Postgame

Los Angeles jumped ahead in the opening frame when Adell lined an RBI single to right, bringing home Trout. That was all they could manage, though, as Freeland settled down and stranded runners in scoring position.

Colorado evened things up in the second after Karros’ sac fly plated Crim. Two innings later, Crim put the Rockies in front hammering a solo shot to right-center (402 feet) to make it 2-1.

Both starters had kept traffic under control aside from the early scoring. Caden Dana has worked around some walks but has limited damage while Freeland has struck out hitters in key spots to hold us at bay. Overall, a very quiet game from both sides.

In the 8th for Colorado, Crim grounded to third and Moniak scored. This boosted the lead to 1-3 for the Rockies. Angels looked to strike back and go on a run.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t go on a run. 1-3 Rockies.

I’m embarrassed that so many people think the fellow who caught Trout’s 400th should have held out for $$$. Instead he got powerful memories for himself and his children, worth a lot more than whatever cash he could have gotten.

How much cash? 400 isn’t that big of deal but the memory is awesome. Good choice by the fan.

Giving back the ball also doesn’t give rise to those pathetic IRS valuation stories that always follows who keeps a historic baseball. You know, when they say a ball is worth $1.5M and the Gov’t wants their tax on the windfall.

In news outside of the Halos organization:

Cincinnati is deadlocked with the Mets for the final WC (D-Backs lurking).

Cleveland is right there on the postseason door, either by taking the division or the last WC slot. Indians were 15 1/2 games out in July and have rallied with 1-game out. Detroit with a major meltdown and they are both headed for a 3-game head-to-head staring on Tuesday at Progressive field. Houston can make it as a WC or division winner as they have an edge with 3-games against the A’s and the final 3-game set against…your Los Angeles Angels. I want Seattle out.

Great stuff and best time of year to be a fan of baseball (not just the 5th place Angels)

Yep, it’s the fun time of year with scoreboard watching and closely following every playoff contender. I remember doing that when the Angels were in the hunt, when I was much younger.
Cleveland has made a remarkable run the past three weeks, and the Mets have folded like a cheap suit.

Pulling for both Cincinnati and Cleveland, would be nice to see a couple of the usual suspects knocked out. Plus, the Reds are just a gas to watch.

When your team sucks you are reduced to looking for highlights elsewhere in MLB.

Well, I found one. For those who have not seen this, it has to be a Top 3 Catch All Time just based on difficulty alone. I also feel confident in saying that nothing like this has ever been done before in a big league game :

Not sure Perry has credibility with Arte anymore after this year with no improvement.

This game was so meaningful…

I’m leaning the same way. Perry is 15-30 since the deadline.

He should be replaced by someone good. Not a chance with Arturo running the show.

Because… hopium?

Arte doesn’t think (or attribute credibility) like most people.

Matching the 73 wins of the 2022 and 2023 Minasian teams seems almost optimistic at this point.

I suspect matching the 72 wins of the 2019 team might be more probable.

Last year the lowlight was the sweep by the White Sox.

This year? A series loss to Colorado is tough to top.

Oddly enough, lowlights are what the franchise needs. We’ve seen how fools gold plays out.

Heading into this series, Rockies had only 2 wins in the month of September. Then Minasian’s Minions showed up.

The Not Ready For Primetime Angels finished final road trip of season 1-9. They have six wins in September. Another 11 k’s today. In the hitters paradise of Coors Field, our fightin’ bunch plated four runs in final two games. Consider this: With a season record of 70-86, if not for pounding the woosies of the NL West, going 12 – 5 against those little leaguers and 6 -0 and against the Blue Divas, our boys would be 58-81 on season.
Another 90 loss season? will they or won’t they?

There is literally no difference from last year. This organization is dead in the water. I’d rather have the Rockies 40 man, and it is awful too.

Would certainly be much cheaper.
