Neto and the Kids Win!

It was a great night for the Angels youth movement. Zach Neto had a single, double, home run, and stolen base by the 4th inning and Jose Soriano was cruising through the Braves lineup. The early good start was enough for the Angels to walk away with a win and a .500 record.

Jo Adell extended his hitting streak to 14 games and plated Neto in the top of the first inning.

Nolan Schanuel pushed the lead to 3-0 with his 8th home run of the year.

Then Zach Neto went yard.

Neto needed a triple for the cycle but it was Taylor Ward hitting a triple in the top of the 6th that pushed the Angels lead to 5-0. Mike Trout scored from first on the play, the second time we’ve seem him hustle hard on the base paths this week. Hopefully that is a good sign.

A youth driven win and a .500 record as we head to the 4th of July. Up next, three games in Toronto.

Morally I could never put money on the Halos to lose but we are now .500 again so we know exactly what happens tomorrow.

Ahhhh CtPG…. home of small shriveled moist balls and tensely gentle seat taking.

The rosters far from complete. The teams not likely to finish over .500, but them boys are gonna fight the whole way. They seem to be willing to get fooled again every day. Idiots. They should just put on a little lipstick and find a man with soft hand and a warm smile cause Arte still owns the team. You know, like their real man fans.

Christ this fan base deserves the last ten years and what ever struggle comes next. The Doyers fansite’s only a click away boys…. they’ll buy you that grit and confidence you need someone to go get for you.

…..Aaaannd, he is getting on base. If it is not a hit it is a walk, which is just like a single in my book. If not better.

Yeah. Probably overreacting but he isn’t an elite guy anymore. Closer to average than MVP. Just a bummer that his best days are behind him.

Dude has .5 WAR In 250 ABs. That’s like a 1 WAR season for $40m. And 6 more tears!

So I didn’t get the memo but because of inflation is 4 more years now 6 more years?

Well, first off he is a DH so there is no possibility of accumulating dWAR…And of course because of the knee he is not attempting to steal, so that is costing him potential WAR as well.

But the main point is that he is getting on base. Look at his OBP since his return… It is better than almost all lead-off batters on other teams.

Whats the OPS+ on that? I like that there’s a number that basically shows how average a guy is…. I know for the season he’s 117, but since he came back it’s much better.

Every post game has to have discussions about Trout being β€œdone”. It is getting old.

Crashing the Pearly Gates…. home of repeating the same sad bitch till she kills herself.

Look at this shit. All these comments. This is after we won a series. Our team that is admittedly not ready to win the division or anything…. but still, the shit sipping is incredible.

β€œTrout is done!” is getting old?

yes, and when Ward hits an RBI double or a HR, nothing praising him for helping the team, but rather “Good, his trade value just went up !”

Albert Pujols gave us a preview of what to expect with Trout, annually: low 0.200 BA, 20-25 HR, 50-75 RBI (assuming he’s plays a full season).

Biggest difference is that Pujols could be counted on to drive nearly 90-100 runs annually.

In 11 years with the Cardinals (2001-2011), Pujols had 0.326 BA (not counting his final season of 2022, right before he retired).
With the Angels, his BA was so low that he lowered his overall BA to 0.296

It’s incredibly difficult to lose 30 points on your BA, when you’ve had 6312 at-bats with the Cardinals, before coming to the Angels.

So, Trout’s BA could possibly go below 0.280 when he retires. He’s currently at 0.296

How many of the tuck jobs on CtPG do you think kinda miss last year when they didn’t have to worry about .500 or that dad… I mean Arte… that they have issues with maybe getting all happy and shit?

Neto was an awesome pick and one I fully approved of, but this is apples and oranges.

Anthony was an 18 yo high schooler, selected in the compensation round after the second round – Boston’s third straight prep selection in a row. All of them are doing well, especially given their ages. Anthony was a phenomenally great pick, frankly, at #79 – exactly where the Angels pick in the third round this year.

Of course a 21 yo is going to have played fewer MLB games than a 24 yo. Neto was playing at Campbell at Anthony’s age.

Anthony has high expectations with high ceiling. Nothing against Neto but I’m buying stock in the Roman Empire.
