Chuckie Robinson was only a Dodger for a day or two before being designated for assignment once again. Doh! Speaking of a few days, the Orioles signed Chadwick Tromp to a minor league deal and they have him on their taxi squad.
The Giants released our old friend Jake Lamb from his minor league contract. Who thinks he will end up in Korea? The Giants also designated first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. and back up catcher Sam Huff for assignment. They signed Dominic Smith to cover first base.
Interestingly, Garrett Richards has reached out to Triston Casas to provide mentoring as Casas rehabs from his ruptured patellar tendon.
The Reds signed Wade Miley to a one year major league deal and placed Hunter Greene on the 15 day IL with a groin strain.
Once again, it’s time for All Star voting. Who will be the Angels’ token All Star?
Infielder/outfielder Nick Solak is now a free agent. Ditto for Travis Jankowski. The White Sox claimed right-hander Ryan Cusick off waivers from the Tigers.

June 3 MiLB transaction log:
“Rocket City Trash Pandas released 1B Sonny DiChiara.”
There comes a time.
They’ve replaced him with a 27 yr old organizational soldier from the Marlins org:

too bad for Sonny. I had hopes for him
Oh nooooo…. thick king. Bummer.
Arte saving 27% on his after game team meals. Cheaper Arte.
Any day the mariners is a good day. Even better when the Halos didn’t play. Hopefully they still have that stank on em when they get here
Just got asked by a Doyers fan… “When did Griffin Canning get so good?”
My answer was, “Apparently after he left the Angels”.
Raisel has sure imploded this season for the Braves…
Quintana’s liable to end up with the dreaded shoulder surgery.
Kumar signing with the Angels in the future, after being cut loose, just got 1 step closer. Perry has his eye on you Kumar.
Can anyone say “Manoah”?
We were so damn stupid passing on this guy. Perry is an ultra maroon.
If it you want to see some baseball magic, you tube Jim Maloney’s no hitter, 8/19/65, 58 minutes of the Cubs color broadcast. The Reds Maloney threw a 10 inning no hitter, 195 pitches!! Walked 10!! Two months prior in threw a 10 inning but lost it in the 11th on Mets Homer. The guys that hit the Reds home run in this game a 1-0 game was Leo Cardenes, the same SS who took over at short for the Angels after Fregosi was traded to the Mets.
Ahh! Jim Maloney. That dude’s unsung as fk. He’s way before my time, but he’s like the Red’s Chuck Finley. He was a beast who threw ungodly numbers of innings and had a good to great ERA+ for like eight or nine years. The whole time the Reds were building The Machine but weren’t there just yet. All these teams that finished ten or more games over 500 but kept finishing 2nd-4th. They did make the 70 Series once he was just about washed…. then he was done and they went on to win all those titles.

He’s basically remade himself from a (sometimes, sometimes not) ‘effectively wild’ K artist with an inconsistent release point to the second coming of Silent-C.
How that eventually plays with the Angels “defense” is anyone’s guess!
😲 60.1 GB%! !!!
Schanny’s angry at Rafaela for hitting that short HR ( hey that’s what I do dammit!!!).
I’m sure everything you do is short Toots.
short toots. hell yeah.
winning baseball looks like fun

Arte are you watching this?
I can see the headline now of how Arete intreprets this situation: “Arte Moreno has reached an agreement to potentially sell his majority stake as soon as 2050”
HeycanIheartwohundredtwohundedgivemetwohundred…three…doIhearthreehundred…four…will you give me four…fourhundredandsold.”

Reinsdorf will likely be dead by then…. so over his dead body.
We brought Carson Fulmer back. Man our pitching sucks. It’s tough to watch. But it’s what’s gotta be done.
Lot’s of grist for the mill. Hendricks, Nerris, Fulmer, Brogdon types. Every inning needs a pitcher. Plus all the growing pains for the staff. Detmers, Silent C, Soriano, Zeferjahn, Broken Joyce, Johnson, Aldegheri….. more kids to come. Some will take their lumps and get better, a lot won’t, and we gotta cycle through all that poop. Other than Jansen, Anderson and Kikuchi every inning’s either a developmental arm or a guy that can be sidelined…. so that a developmental arm can pitch. Lot’s of “warm bodies” and kids.
And, if I get my way, all three of those semi-solid arms would be traded for more kids.
Make it worse Perry!
I understand that we are unlikely to see great season stats from our pitchers. But I am really hoping that we see shifts in the stats from Soriano, Silent C, Detmers and pen kids, where they clearly figure things out via their struggles and look a lot better in August/September than they do in May. We’d still have a very bad staff ranking, but there’d be some positivity.
Keep putting gas in the struggle bus boys. CtPG Guy was a bitch when the team was making the playoffs all the time. Now that we truly are a miserable team let’s make something out of the suck and whining that comes from it. Don’t manage the pain and try to “compete”. Just look at a lot of guys, throw most of the trash out, look at more guys, repeat.
With the never-ending pitching growing pains, we might actually get to the end of the dimly lit tunnel in a few years… maybe league average someday? Looks like we have some depth with our Kid Arms. And enough that some of them will pan out.
With my usual inaccurate pre-season predictions, I had our pitching making a jump, a few clicks better than 2024… wrong again. And I assumed the offense would be entrenched as bottom dwellers, a cluster F. But, in a little bit of a shock, heading into early June the offense is showing some potential. We actually score some runs, pressure pitchers, slug the F’ing ball. MLB #17 in runs scored 4.18 per game, 4.64 on the road. Unfortunately it’s 3.52 runs at home…. That needs to change. This offense has room to improve, imagine another jump in growth with the kids, maybe 1 or 2 more on the way? Jo continues to contribute, Trout stays healthy, sign an actual FA next offseason that produces. I’ll say it, don’t trade Ward? Our offense might reach and maintain better than league average.
Free us from sucking at home!
I still think the pitching can get better. I think Hendricks will continue to ass out, Detmers will take his spot, then kids will take pen innings. Detmers, Soriano, Silent C have all already shown us their struggles. If we are lucky I think all three can get better over the season and we’ll have one of those crap years where if you look at the last three months those guys all look fairly good. That’s my hope.
I think we are seeing Zeferjahn’s adjustment season too. But he’ll settle down as well.
Though I’m always wrong about pen arms…. so he better have life insurance.
Heck, by then we’ll be able to pick up Clase for $15.
They are forced into these moves because the bullpen has to cover 4 to 5 innings every game.
Let’s draft catchers and relievers every year from now on.
Neto is the only Angel deserving of an ASG invitation. The rest need to buy tickets to attend.
Tyler Anderson?
Valid point, but I’m assuming that the Angels will have one player added by the manager (not two). From a team perspective, I’d rather see Neto get it than Anderson (although I agree Anderson is having a solid first-half of the season).
Ohoppe?
Where O’Hoppe gets hurt with metrics is defensively and throwing out baserunners.
In my opinion, if the Angels only get one All-Star selection it’s Neto. Neto gets more national publicity than other other Angel who is not injured. If they get two selections it’s Neto and Anderson, and if they get three selections it’s Neto, Anderson and O’Hoppe.
Schanuel?
I agree but I believe it will be a pitcher.
I’m surprised we haven’t heard what the pre game dust up was about regarding Anderson. I know from the look of the video that Enright was not going to put up with Bawstun first base coaches bullshit.
The Boston guys were complimentary of Arte and Perry. Anderson and Enright disagreed.
or it might have been the age old argument about “tastes great” or “less filling”
Regardless the reason for the extracurricular activities, no punches were thrown – so it was lame.
I’m thinking it very well could have been the old Miller Lite argument.
I’m going to go with the “great taste” side of the argument since there has never, in human history, been a more saturated market than the IPA beer market.
Anderson was pissed the Red Sox were stealing pitches during his outing on tuesday. I was listening to the Red Sox announcers on Sirius radio and that’s what they said
They were saying they didn’t understand why Anderson was pissed since it’s legal and everyone does it
Not sure how they would steal pitches since they are now conveyed through the electronic system with the ear piece instead of the old school hand signals. Really the only thing that could be “stolen” is location… If the catcher moves too early the batter on second could tip location, thus the Kenley move with the intentional balk which we all saw recently…
“Back in the day”, if a batter was caught looking back at where the catcher was setting up, he’d get a fastball in the hip pocket. Maybe Anderson is a pacifist?
I always preferred to rib shot a guy in that situation. I threw hard but, struggled with command. Must have been a lack of focus thing as I never had an issue hitting my spot in those occasions .
😂
They must have been arguing over their favorite Taylor Swift songs.
🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Tip of the cap to Enright for having his pitcher’s back
Yep, Enright is a soulless ginger who isn’t going to take any shit from anyone, especially a first base coach.
Yes but can he pitch (coach) ?
His contract stipulates that he only helps starting pitchers. Relief pitchers – they are on their own.
Besides maybe Neto or O’Hoppe, I really don’t know who on the Angels should get an All Star nod. Maybe Kenley for nostalgia sake.
Trout only makes it on nostalgia too unfortunately.
Neto deserves it more, but too many other AL shortstops.
if the game is now, Hop will be the rep.
Not if he keeps hitting .500 for the next little bit here.
My fear is that they will select Trout based on old history/tradition and thereby screw Neto out of a deserved selection. Don’t do it! Free Zach!
