When Rada laid that bunt down I heard an audible sigh seem to come from the sky itself…. then I realized it was every Angels fan over the age of 60 groaning with pleasure all at once and I was a little creeped out.
He really has it all outside of muscle and basic reps. Most kids his age last year were in instructs and complex leagues, and he was in AA facing some of the best pitchers in the minors.
His defense, base running and plate knowledge are already MLB ready, which is a lot to say for a 19 yr old.
I have liked Campero for a while. Never gonna be GOOD, but I think he can be a contributor and he’s got what we would call grit if he were a small white guy.
Rada is much more patient and will always have less power than Aybar. Seems more like Maicer Izturis than Aybar, but with a plus-plus defensive ceiling in CF.
A lefty leadoff guy with potential for a .360-.370 OBP and 30+ steals a year is still a very valuable player on this team.
Agree. Erick was not a patient hitter and did not have good strike zone discipline. That said he was a career .271 hitter.
For Rada, even hitting at the bottom of the order his defensive prowess can make him a valuable guy…. Do you see him at his peak maybe being a 2-2.5 WAR per year kind of guy ? Or is that too optimistic ?
I don’t think it’s too optimistic. Look at the seasons Izturis and Reggie Willits had early on, project greater defensive value, and there’s a 2-3 WAR player there.
But he’s going to come up against elite velocity in the MLB, and they’re going to pound him on the inner half, and the question is whether he can handle that and find gaps, or whether it’s going to overwhelm him. Time will tell.
Good things this game:
Rada’s smooth D and mature plate approach, Kochanowicz’s power sinker, McDaniels’ crisp debut, Noda’a plate discipline, Anderson’s infield defense
(Edit, per Rex: a hale and hitting O’Hoppe)
Bad things this game:
Outfield defense, Dana’s control and command, Moore’s and Kavadas’ plate indiscipline, Moore’s infield defense
Yeah, for Dana walking the leadoff guy that one inning was not good. I know it is Spring and you are working on pitches, but you have to go at guys. Not a habit you want to see him develop …
Eh. I’m not gonna demand his release until at least the tenth inning he pitches this year. But if inning #11 hits and he still sucks he is a wash and we need to release him.
No Trout in the lineup again today
i heard Monday is the unveiling.
Excited for some more Rada and CMo today. Randy De Jesus too! He might K 2x or hit a ball 500 feet.
You’re on it today 12.
You da man! Let me sleep in and still post the lineup 😇
Scrub City today . Of course it is would be draconian to force the labored Vets to make that long arduous journey to Goodyear
Westside road trips are definitely for rookies and NRIs.
The vets will take the road trips to Scottsdale 😉
Kieboom!
that run down play yesterday was atrocious – I’m wondering how much pickle they’ll be playing this morning…
Today is the first day of the rest of Detmers’ career.
Come on show us that you really are a big leaguer!
Pulling hard for Reid.

And that was the first game of ST, it was like getting past 3rd base on a first date.
That
childkid might be really good someday.Free Rada’icals
A little peak at how the Spicy 2025 Angel Sausage will be made
recipe begins – Day 1
1-0 in games played without Rendon. Keep it going!
Watching the first few innings here…
Schanuel really bulked up, and O’Hoppe is just a stud, my god.
Yep. Logan definitely challenges my normally Gibraltar like heterosexuality.
Oh behaaave…
🎶 l love Paris in the Springtrime. 🎶
Let’s hope we can finally love him all season long
wow! So many times it looked bleak and yet we won!
What a game. Angels are undefeated!
fixed it
Always fun when playing minor leaguers.
The halo shines tonight!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SUCK IT MARINERS
Always nice to jab Jerry
LTBU !!!
What an ending!
Trash Pandas win! Trash Pandas win!
How about that…WE WIN!!
Kind of reached for it, but at least Moore made contact there.
Rada clean bunt!
Player of the game so far.
Rada was awesome today. Hoping he takes a big leap in AA this year.
He really has it all outside of muscle and basic reps. Most kids his age last year were in instructs and complex leagues, and he was in AA facing some of the best pitchers in the minors.

In the meantime, don’t count out contributions from Gustavo Campero this year. Three walks today and can be the spark plug an offense needs.
I have liked Campero for a while. Never gonna be GOOD, but I think he can be a contributor and he’s got what we would call grit if he were a small white guy.
Yah. If Rada just does all that stuff he did today I’ll be fine even if he is a shitty MLB hitter cause he only hits 12HR a year.
Wash sung his praises echoing your sentiments.
Hope we got one in Rada
Turk, do you see Rada with an offensive ceiling of say an Erick Aybar? You know, a slap hitter who gets on base alot and can stir the pot ?
Rada is much more patient and will always have less power than Aybar. Seems more like Maicer Izturis than Aybar, but with a plus-plus defensive ceiling in CF.

Heck yeah, and you can totally see how that’s within his reach by say age 22. Maybe sooner if lucky.

Hop looks ready.
Logan was nearly an all-star in 2024, before losing steam in the 2nd half. He is primed for a huge year
He seemed very focused and businesslike this spring
Agree. Let’s hope he can stay healthy. Having Travis as a solid backup should make Wash less hesitant to give Logan an extra day off here and there …

Nobody is talking about releasing him… we are talking about developing good habits vs developing bad ones…
