LA Angels Thursday News Crash: Dodgers Won

The Dodgers came back to win Game 5 and the World Series against the Yankees. Freddie Freeman was named the MVP. Maybe avoid downtown Los Angeles at 11:00 A.M. on Friday. Now that that is over, have some links.

Left-hander Brandon Leibrandt elected free agency. Cuban left-hander Naykel Cruz will hold a showcase for interested clubs next week in the Dominican Republic.

Right-hander Cody Stashak got a minor league deal with the Phillies.

Connecticut Yankee Austin Capobianco now hopes he doesn’t end up getting banned for life. His Game 5 tickets were “redistributed” to a pediatric cancer patient and his family.

Do we have a go-to comeback for anyone throwing #17 in our faces? I saw someone suggest, “They wouldn’t have won without an Angel on the team,” and it’s kind of perfect. If you’ve got a better one, I’d love to hear it.
That may have been the most fun I’ve had watching the MFY go down since Arizona in 2001. I usually avoid the hate, but for the MFY, I’m willing to make an exception. And even though the Doyers have three solid guys at the top of their lineup, I’ll go back to disliking them tomorrow.
Then there’s the rioting just because there’s an excuse—and the ridiculous “heroism” of grabbing a player’s arm during a game. That’s not just dumb, that’s grounds for prison time.

This seems like a dumb move. There seems to be alot more pitchers they kept on the 40 man that I would have jettisoned over Roansy. ( Davis Daniel, Rosenberg, Mederos to name a few)

Congrats to the Dodgers and especially Ohtani on winning the World Series! Now on to the offseason and lets see how Arte & Perry can make the 2025 Angels even worse.

“And so the offseason begins: The Atlanta Braves are trading outfielder Jorge Soler to the Los Angeles Angels, a source tells ESPN.”

Finally, Griff is gone LFG

The Atlanta Braves will receive right-hander Griffin Canning from the Los Angeles Angels in the trade for Jorge Soler, sources tell ESPN.

Fits right in to the rebuild at 32. 121 OPS+. As mentioned, he can be traded later in the year.

13M each for the next 2 years is very affordable assuming he performs. Griffen signed a 1 year 5.4 M contract with Atlanta so the actual cost this year is only 7.6M for Soler and 13M next year. He’s theoretically not blocking anyone. I think it’s a solid fairly low risk short term move but the problem is they don’t really have any more spots and they need to add 2 more players like this.

This was a move long overdue. Canning was not going to do it here. Good riddance.

I have never liked the Dodgers. I thought I couldn’t care less about who won, but in the first game, I couldn’t help but pull for Freddy, given the year he has had. I still don’t think was pulling for the Dodgers, but I was pulling for Freddy.

Dodgers brass not so smart after all, really, actually not as much as given credit for. They should have kept Seager or Turner at SS in hindsight.

Twebur

All they did is allocate $$$$$ hundreds of millions of dollars (really Billions) $$$$$ in a different direction..

Not a criticism of the Dodgers, just a fact, they bought a ring. And with that said, it’s hard to do that, and more times than not it doesn’t work. Full credit given.

As much as I always have and always will hate those MF’ers, they play hard, and they play the game the right way. Grit detector registers 10 out of 10. Though it’s sometimes hard to know if this is an accurate opinion, no DICKS appear to be on that roster, good guys. But I still hate them.

Just got to get through this celebration of life and I’ll get over it.

That Yankees team looked pathetic yesterday. I can’t believe they are keeping Boone. So many bad decisions in that series. Bad decisions, where you say “what the hell is he doing” before the bad mistake came back to haunt him. That 5th inning meltdown was crazy.

GrandpaBaseball
Legend

Damn Boone just can’t do anything right, how does he keep that team winning year after year? It’s all his fault that his team had a bad series, he’ll probably mess up in the playoffs next season too. Why he would probably be unemployed for all of 5 minutes if let go, what a dummy.

HalosFanForLife

Do you think they were well-coached in that Series? The fish rots from the head. Putting the tying run on third and winning run on second was moronic when they pitched to Freeman in Game 1. There were so many moments. He should win with that payroll and players. If I’m the owner, I see that he got outcoached by Dave Roberts and it wasn’t close.

Ok-Ok-Ok, I was wrong, good heavens, I was wrong, Dodgers fans are the worst in all of MLB. What a disgrace being shown to the world. Seek and destroy, after all there is no consequences anymore and nothing worse than a slap on the hand in California. Although I don’t really believe that the looting and bus burning are true Dodgers fans, it does give pause to why anyone would do seek and destroy in the name of winning. Just flat out wrong and embarrassing that Downtown LA should have to witness this with the rest of the world.

There’s Big Japanese Guy, Vanilla Pudding at 1B, Kershaw, Vin Scully and small Black Guy! I love the Blue Team so much since I was a little boy! I’m gonna go ransack a Nike store to celebrate cause Blue Team finally did it when no one thought they could cause no respect! It’s been so long since back then when they did it, they really miss Kobe. But now I am a champion. I don’t have to pay child support anymore do I? I love sports ball! I love LA! Rams house!

Hey Crashers, now that we are on the cusp of the opening of the hot stove league and I’ve finally returned to Civilization and the cold harsh reality being an Angel fan, it is time to pay my penance and admit I am wrong ( as shocking as it may seem)
Fan since ’71 was absolutely correct in his early 2024 season evaluation of our beloved but downtrodden ball club and I am now paying homage to his greatness.  Despite the glimmering of hope our youngsters have provided we are a long way off to even being relevant, as difficult as that seems to admit.  And we may have to wait until a new owner takes control of this team and threatens to relocate the franchise or threatens contraction. (Hey that worked for Jackie Autry)
This unqualified endorsement will stay in force and effect until next season’s opener or the advent of a case of false 2025 hopium buoyed by another one of our overrated major trades. Whichever occurs first.
That is all . Now back to our regularly scheduled program of Halo Lethargy.

Sorry, I admit I’m one of the minority who could care less about Ohtani wining a championship. He is basically MLB version of a self centered NBA star who wants to collect rings by hoping on super teams. Players like that are not loyal to any organization or fans. Ohtani is happy with Dodgers as long as they keep winning. Example: why would you have an opt out clause in your contract if the ownership changes? Cause if they don’t spend $$ or try to rebuild he has option to leave. Add the deferred money, recruiting the best pitcher from Japan, its just all too much. Everyone got sick of the Heat and the ‘big 3’ being in finals every year, now Sho has his own Big 3 MLB style. I can never knock his talent as the best player, but won’t cheer for him at all.

There are people who LOVE LeBlonde James too. Like seriously think he’s a great human being. I think a guy like celebrated rapist and deified championship deadman Kobe Bryant is way better cause he remained my friend I never met for forever plus mamba mentality. I’m pretty sure Shohei’s thinking about me today as he celebrates the win. After all, we’ve stood by each other through thick and thin.

The west coast is a mess in many ways but probably most when it comes to the willingness to enforce the law. I grew up in the hood when the Gates led LAPD had no restraint so I’m not advocating for that but the public often now suffers due to bad policies.

I’ve had some friends in law enforcement and they are generally good people who know what needs to be done but aren’t allowed to do it.

I like to see Kavadas rake cause it is starting to look like getting guys like him a taste of the MLB during our six month Spring Training actually sharpened him up. Hopefully he can build on it…. same with about 15 other kids in the org. Jordyn Adams? 4th OF/CF? Pen arms? Starters? Waggy Man?

We’ll see.

Fun World Series for some, with drama happening right up to the end. The most important though was the Yankees losing after being up by 5 runs, and the Dodgers having but just 2 starters with one just coming off TJ surgery.

Juan Soto = Lots and lots of money in the off season that is upon us or lots of money and making the playoffs every year. Tough choice? Not for him because he does not want to be second fiddle. I’m thinking he will be a Met.

gitchogritchoffmypettis

I don’t mean this in a bad way, but I think the “Latino” flavor of the Mets, along with a huge pile of money, may win him over. And why not? It looks like Queens would be a really fun place to play for him. They are as close to the “party” atmosphere of Latin American baseball as an MLB team gets and I like it.

GrandpaBaseball

I was not thinking like that, but when looking harder I can see your point and agree that may sway him over.
