I can smell the garlic fries from here.
To keep the page clutter free, the gamethreads for Cactus League games will stay up until the following day and act as the postgame thread as well.

I do hope they don’t trade Nelson Rada, the last potential blue chip prospect on the farm, and the first textbook leadoff threat the system has seen in almost a decade.
He looked the part in A-ball last season, and seems to only be improving.
Man, a visit by Turks. I feel like the Magic Conch has spoken!!!

It’s been hard to crawl to the batter’s circle for this team, Dude. It’s been real hard.
I’ll keep my eye on Nelson, though.
Key words being: Textbook leadoff.
I love players that can get on 1B and immediately start pressuring the pitcher/catcher with speed.
Shoe me the Shufflebot!!!
The way I view Spring Training games is sort of twofold. On the one hand I don’t place much emphasis on player performance here … and I don’t care very much about wins and losses. HOWEVER, I don’t want my team to lose an inordinate number of games.
Even though they “don’t count,” I feel it has a subtly negative impact mentally if a team losses a larger number of them , say 75 % of the games or more. So, it is psychological. And in this vein I want my team to avoid really bad losses. By that I mean the kind of games where you lead 4-0 in the top of the 8th and give up 2 in the bottom half and 3 in the 9th to lose. Or games where you lead 5-0 going to the 9th and give up 6 runs to lose in the bottom of the 9th. Or games where you lead early 7-0 and then blow the lead and eventually end up losing a high scoring affair.
So, for me at least it is about avoiding the “buttercup” kinds of losses and avoiding losing a high percentage of the games played. Other than that it is about getting your work in.
Yep, and we know most of the players in the game by the 7th inning won’t be on the team for Opening Day
Good point.
Since i’ve been missing the games on TV thus far I went back to old school open the sports page kind of analysis – check the scores by inning of the first 3 – 4 innings for damage; possible indicators of what the “starters” might be doing.
Wish I was at this one. Entertainment start to finish then a walk to Old Town Scottsdale.
It isn’t even March yet. Zero reason for joy or panic. Just enjoy the craziness.
We win and we get two blitzes with my new favorite part, “the other Wash “
Sweet-a win with speed and power, fun game.
That’s a beauty!
LIGHT UP THE CACTUS
Rada has the swagger!
Ra(dicle) Rada
Nadie tiene nada en Rada
And El Nino is Spanish for…. The Nino!
“EL NINO BURRO”
pero muchas con las ratas de rally
What? We have a Rally Rat now?
Cheap Arte cut the budget everywhere…
so I missed an epic outing by Joyce.
Will flip the TV back on in a minute. Work always getting in the way of fun.
Nice hit by actor Matt Le Blanc, here’s jazzman Chico Hamilton at bat with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts on deck
Ha!
I’m liking Rada a lot already
I cant believe he’s only
1918! years old.Baseball Reference tells us he was more than 4 years younger than the average ballplayer in his league last year, when he as 17 (!!) and he still hit .276 with 55 SBs.
If we’re within 5 games of the wildcard at the end of July, maybe we’ll trade this guy to Boston for Giolito!
we will all commit Pari Kari if that happens
Welp, it’s not a boring game.
The comeback kids are back
Come on Lana I know it’s spring training so everyone is a little rusty but didnt we just get our second Halo Blitz of the day?
Oh shoot, I missed it. Again.
And Wash in the back
Said, “Everyone attack!”
And it turned into a Halo Blitz!
And other Wash in the corner
Said, “Boys I gotta warn ya,
It’ll turn into a Halo Blitz!”
Halo Blitz…. Halo Blitz…
Halo Blitz…. Halo Blitz…
It’s a Halo Blitz!
IT’S A HALO BLITZ!!!!
Thanks Lana. You are definitely one of the few bright spots even in these most recent bleak Angel seasons.
Aww, ☺️
From the original author:
To make it scan better:
Line 1: “Ron Wash”
Line 4: “John Wash”
Joyce heater was straight as a string today. NPC needs to work with him on getting some tilt.
Maybe D-O-Z-I-E-R can spell DH?
Rumor:
Both Snell and Monty were watching this game on Gameday, and in the past 5 minutes called their agents and asked “but can I sign with the Dodgers?”
Repeat after me:
“Spring training scores don’t matter”
Joyce will tighten things up and Canning looked solid as Jeff said. Adell and Tony got their work in.
Meh.
They still don’t matter, right? Right?!
They matter a tiny but more. For the moment.
Gotta live in the moment.
Always!
Ha ha ha. I saw the score about 30 minutes ago when it was 7-0 Angels.
I swear to God that I thought ;” They’ll probably find a way to blow this game.”
Well then.
Gameday didn’t really help me with those at-bats.
They showed Joyce having multiple strikes being called balls, including one right down the middle…
It’s been reported for YEARS that Gameday doesn’t work too well during spring training.
Check this post from March 18, 2012:

I was kind of concerned at first that you were able to just call up a post from 12 years ago to address this, but then I saw it is your post so I guess it wasn’t too hard to pull up…
😄
The buttercup machine is already ready for Opening Day
For a moment I thought maybe Joyce intentionally walked the bases loaded as part of a spring training exercise, to then simulate pressure on himself so he could strike out the next two guys.
Nice early offense.
Canning looked solid.
Soriano is Soriano. Adams needs to work on basic defensive techniques. Adell swung over the first breaking pitch anywhere near the zone. Dozier doing number 17 proud.
Encouraging to see Adams put in the offseason work defensively to get better after last seasons stellar D.
Do we only do a Halo Blitz during the regular season… would’ve been good practice to capture that on in Top 3rd 🙂
It’s late but……did I get it right?
And Wash in the back
Said, “Everyone attack!”

Halo Blitz…. Halo Blitz…

IT’S A HALO BLITZ!!!!
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Lanaaaaa! Happy Spring!
Hope you’re doing good.
Hi Mia! Yes, doing well, how about you?
Happy to hear it! I cannot complain. Life is good. 🙂
ah, Kike to the Dodgers
