Detmer may demand a trade after this. He has gotten lousy run support this year at home, barely 2.5 runs a game. Langston is so pissed, had to take himself off the mic to “the stroll” to cool down.
Terry Smith and Langston are not happy with the Detmer quick hook. This is as animated as I have heard Langston, said “I’m going to have to turn my microphone off.” You can tell he is pissed.
Never understand the rationale of not playing someone because you believe they will eventually experience a regression. Why not take advantage of them while they’re hot and then if they regress, you can sit them. Meckler and Siri have both significantly out performed most of the others on a team that has very little offense. Meckler has 146 PAs and is still the 2nd best hitter on the team other than Trout. It’s not just a little bit. Relative to the league, Meckler is hitting over 50% better than Lowe and he is not a defensive liability, and he is a good base runner. It absolutely defies logic.
Good organizations do this.. Play the hot hand until its no longer hot. Tommy Edman is currently hitting 3rd or 4th for the Doyers on some nights. Also as someone who has seen Meck work from his time at Oregon State. this is who he is. He’s a grinder and will always put up a quality AB.. the fact that he has made some mechanical tweaks to stay in the zone longer should make him a consistent big league hitter.
Setting up the Buttercup?
Losing and Detmers pitched well. Nice!
I’ve been in meetings all afternoon and forget the game was on. That never happens to me !
Suzuki got his series win. This game means nothing.
Yates in the game = waving the white flag.
Trout is 9 for 39 with 2 doubles, 1 hr and 3 rbis since returning from IL.
He has a total of 9 (!!!) Rbis at home this season.
Pretty safe to say….. ballgame!
Neto K? No way!!
#140 this season
7 hits, no runs. It’s called poor line-up construction.
I see that we brought our A-Game on offense today.
Do we have one of those?
Only if A stands for Atrocious.
Also Awful
We grade on a curve.
Looks like Detmers was taken out purely to keep him fresh for the deadline.
85 pitches, looked good. Perfect showcase.
So I’m good with that if that’s the case.
I guess Detmer didn’t get that memo.

Suzuki also does not always play the best defensive team when Reid and Jose pitch.
This was my thought as well.

Langston wants to win. I love that.
Mo wants to trade Detmers. Or at least have the option to do so.
I would love for Detmers and Soriano to pitch in the playoffs.
Suzuki pretending like he has a good pen will never not be funny.
Mark Langston just said on the radio broadcast that taking put Detmer now is “unbelievable”. Said Detmer is definitely not happy.
That’s an aggressive hook.
Langston couldn’t believe it.
HR aside, Detmers is dealing again.
Dang Nolan, that was a rocket.
Really enjoy watching Meckler play. Always all out.

Agreed
And it isn’t like Meckler’s AAA numbers are bad. Give the kid a shot and let him sink or swim.
So true. Moncada, Soler and Lowe have been a disaster, a $20 million disaster.
I would rather have 1 good $20 Million player.
Okay, Meck needs to be benched. He’s making the other guys look bad.
Meckler continues to scream with his bat: “Hey Kurt, see me?!”
