Angels Win 5-2 Postgame

John Mozeliak discusses joining the Angels.

Not only is Josh Lowe still here, but he started in center field tonight. Not only is Josh Lowe here, but he started in center field.

Jo Adell was responsible for much of the scoring. He had a triple and a double by the sixth inning. Unfortunately, the end of the sixth inning found the game locked up at 2-2.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Denzmeister gave the Angels the lead again with a ground ball single to left. 3-2 Angels.

Oswald Peraza came in and made it 4-2.

Logan O’Hoppe singled to score Adell and make it 5-2 Angels.

Have a Molly Jolly firing
It’s the best day of the year
Molly told ol’ Perry “Bye now!”
And CTPG gave a cheer

Have a Molly Jolly firing
And when you walk down the street
Say hello to everybody
Every Angels fan you meet

Oh, ho, we screamed for years
Nobody seemed to hear our cries
Watched our window slam shut slowly
Now we’re done with Perry’s lies

Have a Molly Jolly firing
And every single fan said
“Thank you Molly, now go find us
Someone who can build this team instead!”

Oh, ho, but Arte’s still there
Sitting up in his suite
Hats off to Molly for the firing
Now the tarps are off for Arte’s seat!

Have a Molly Jolly firing
Molly don’t you stop now
Upper deck’s already shirtless
Show that man the door somehow

Hey, the fans are screaming
Tarps are off throughout the stands
“Sell the team to someone, Arte
Put this franchise in new hands!”

Have a Molly Jolly firing
Molly Anderson came through
Hey, I don’t know if you know this
But the whole fan base loves you

Now tell Arte too!

Have a Molly Jolly, a very Molly Jolly
Have a Molly Jolly fir-ing this year!

Mozeliak said the process started several weeks ago after connecting with Jolly through a mutual friend in agent Steve Hilliard. He said owner Arte Moreno was not involved in the process, but that he’ll meet with him soon.

Could that really be true?! Is this really just a Molly decision?!

When you have a hands on owner – no way she did this all on her own. It might have been her lead -(maybe not) – but there’s no way she didn’t go to him on a decision this big.

Arte most likely handed directives to Jolly Molly to fire Perry, and trusted her enough to hire Moz without needing to speaking with him

Several weeks ago. Leads me to ask why wasn’t this done over the offseason.

From February 2026

“I really like Perry,” Moreno said. “At the end of the day, you have to start adding up wins and losses. But it’s an unfortunate thing when [Ron] Washington got sick. We were a competitive team [at 36-38]. But then we just kept losing games because of mental mistakes.”

Moreno believes the Angels can compete this season despite the drop in payroll and noted it’ll be up to the younger players to continue to develop. He said new pitching coach Mike Maddux was a big hire and thinks Minasian has done a good job of improving the organization’s overall pitching depth.

“I think we can compete,” Moreno said. “We’re gambling on a couple pitchers we brought in, but some of our pitchers are a year older. [Robert] Stephenson makes a big difference on the back end, and [Ben] Joyce is back throwing and is healthy and we spent some money on the bullpen.”

Until Arte sells or dies nothing material will ever change. This rich twat really was banking on Stephenson and Joyce, and thought we properly shored up the bullpen with 1 year deals given to Yates, Romano and Pomeranz lmao

Thinking the team was competitive even with a healthy Joyce and Stephenson was delusional. I gave him more credit than that. But, if he thought that then he wasn’t hearing from Perry what he needed to. Perry was telling him what he wanted to hear. Also, It’s not about being a nice guy or person in this case. Perry isn’t auditioning as a friend, he’s been hired to perform a professional job. I’m just different but I have always told people I work for that I am going to tell them what they need to hear not what they want to hear.

This is the correct line of thinking, why didn’t they make this move during the offseason, and then wait until now? Was there an issue with the Platypus draft planning for the upcoming draft?

I don’t think Arte would have wanted to hire another GM or interim GM at that time. I also think that Molly or someone is getting to Arte’s ear now that Carpino is gone. Someone who actually cares about the team and org.

Even if that is true it I don’t understand the logic of firing him now unless the new guy is goin to influence the draft. Especially since the new guy has said they aren’t going to really do anything any different.

Agreed. Though as Moz said the process started several weeks ago which to me means the decision to part with Perry was at least thought of before contact was made with Moz. If I judge several weeks I think of the beginning of May so I wonder if the decision was made at the time Arte said about winning as P12 quoted above at the end of February. Or at least the go ahead to look around. Could just be coincidence that this all comes close to the draft.

I think it is so Arte to say fans don’t care about winning but lack of winning was the reason Perry was let go.

This reeks of the organization saying okay we need some positive PR to distract from Arte

I already trust Mozeliak more than I ever trusted the old guy. I hope, if Mozeliak isn’t named the official GM that he’s the one who makes the decision on the hire and not Arte.

I remember my first beer Eric. While we can dream, no way is the little man gonna not make that decision.

Yea my first impression is kind of negative because of the message that says “we’re not going to make any real changes”. No reason to fire Perry then. You’re losing because Perry made lots of bad decisions and the decisions going forward need to be different with a new direction and plan. More of the same isn’t going to change the results. I don’t have a problem if they want to wait until the offseason to make changes to the roster, but if that doesn’t happen, then their just continuing down the same road.

Arte will be the one who ok’s the contract. So he will be involved on some level.

I can’t believe we got a save. By September maybe he’ll pass Jordan Romano for the team lead.
