LA Angels Monday News Crash: Outright

June 15, 2026

Omar Martinez cleared waivers and the Angels outrighted him to Triple-A Salt Lake City. Both Grayson Rodriguez and Wade Meckler were injured in yesterday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.

This article is about the teams that might trade for Tarik Skubal. The White Sox signed reliever Javy Guerra to a minor league deal.

Freddy Fermin got beaned and is now on the 7 day concussion IL.

Hamate Fractures

The Royals placed Vinnie Pasquantino on the injured list with a hamate fracture. Jose Ramirez also has a hamate fracture.

Grayson Rodriguez to IL, Pomeranz DFA’d in order to bring up Brett Kerry, Jose Fermin. This seems like a good time to look at Perry’s major offseason moves:

Jordan Romano – DFA’d
Alek Manoah – DFA’d, still in minor league system
Drew Pomeranz- DFA’d
Josh Lowe- sent to Triple A
Yoan Moncada- 60 day IL
Grayson Rodriguez- 15 Day IL
Vaughn Grissom – 15 day IL
Kirby Yates- Closer that can’t close

Perry cannot be allowed to make baseball decisions for this team any longer.

He was a minor league signing so I’m not characterizing it as a major acquisition. If I included minor league signings, this list would never end.

Meckler is back in the lineup tonight.

Peraza banished to ninth in the order because of a cold streak but Neto continues to lead off despite a .223 average and the second most Ks in baseball.

There are 15 teams in the AL and our “core” SS, Zach Neto, is 10th in voting. That shows we could trade him without losing much (a second tier player) but wouldn’t get much back

P12 said beyond Slawinski he wasn’t seeing too much from the 2025 High School arms yet….but I will say this:

Mitchell, Gray, LaCourse, Haley – they are all out there grinding, starting, and amassing innings in the ACL/RC in the hot summer (unlike their collegiate counterparts up in the cooler PNW).

I’m happy they are out there taking the mound this summer and going.

The Arizona complex in dry triple digit summer heat is no cakewalk. Mitchell and Gray (and Cascino) are both very raw, but testing a lot of things, and showing an ability to miss bats. Mitchell in particular has 17 Ks in 7.1 IP. Forget ERA in the ACL – that’s promising.

But apart from Slawinski, who could move more quickly, these all look like long-term projects. Ya never know, but probably 4+ year projects.

Kurt and Perry really can’t take any credit as the Angels are winning in spite of themselves. If you look at the hitting for the regulars, it has been on a significant decline. In addition to the pitching, it has really only been because of the Bees that the team has been winning games recently. Every regular except for Trout, Neto, and Peraza have an OPS+ under 100, some well under, and even those 3 have declined considerably. It’s literally because of guys getting hurt and forcing them to be replaced by minor leaguers that has resulted in the recent improvement. I’m certainly happy for it but it’s not a great look. Regarding the starting pitching, Urena and Aldegheri are really the only ones Perry can take credit for at this point.

Good morning to all, crazy things happened in the last week or so like hitting the ball and pitching the ball and doing things to win games against good teams. All this with the gamg that couldn’t shoot straight. Week enjoyed Wade Mecklers all to brief hitting spree and he is now acting like an Angel, oh well, that’s the way it goes when you are an Angels fan.

Wish I was a fly on the wall in discussions with Perry and scouting staff concerning the upcoming draft. I just hope the PTP gets his head out of his “A” hole and stop trying to save money on the first-round draft choice. Ignorance is not bliss if you are clueless. you know what stupid is, well PTP is going to prove he is stupid. Have really enjoyed paying attention to the team in the last couple of weeks as the no-names have produced.
