Tonight we had Grayson Rodriguez versus Spencer Arrighetti. To look at the earned run averages, this was a mismatch, in favor of the Astros. Here are the opposing lineups. Welcome to the bigs, Denzer Guzman and Trey Mancini!
Nothing happened until the bottom of the second. Jo Adell was hit by a pitch.
Nick Madrigal got a hit to put two men on. Trey Mancini singled to score Jo Adell and advance Nick Madrigal to second. 1-0 Angels.
After a Donovan Walton strikeout, Logan O’Hoppe doubled to make it 3-0 Angels.
Zach Neto walked for a change. A wild pitch advanced O’Hoppe to third. Mike Trout walked to load the bases and bring up Wade Meckler. Meckler struck out. 3-0 Angels.
In the top of the third Yordan Alvarez doubled and then Christian Walker also doubled to make it 3-1 Angels. That was it for Houston scoring in the third. The Angels did squat. Nobody did anything of merit in the fourth inning.
Nothing happened until the sixth inning. Isaac Paredes doubled. Lamonte Wade Jr doubled and it was then 3-2 Angels. Cam Smith also doubled. 3-3 tie. Samy Natera Jr. came in to pitch and ended the inning without further scoring.
Zach Neto homered in the seventh inning to put the Angels up 4-3.
Everything was fine until Christian Walker singled off of Kirby Yates in the ninth inning to drive in Jeremy Pena who had walked. 4-4 tie. Logan O’Hoppe, Zach Neto, and Mike Trout all struck out. Sam Aldegheri came in to pitch the tenth inning. Brice Matthews bunted for a single and drove the ghost runner to third. Cam Smith struck out. Jake Meyers popped out to second and Altuve, the ghost runner, scored on an error by Logan O’Hoppe. 5-4 Astros.
Jose Siri doubled a shot to left field and Mike Trout was called out despite a review. Jo Adell struck out. Denzer Guzman flied out to left to end the game. 5-4 loss to the Astros.
