Ah the Freeway Series. Nothing more SoCal. Saying THE when referring to the Freeways, red vs blue, both named Los Angeles, and the results making no damn sense year after year. Classic SoCal. Angels next to Disneyland, Dodgers on a hill in a sea of parking lots.
The Angels swept the Dodgers last year, you know, the team that had another 90+ loss season sweeping the defending champs? It means that, by way of the transitive property, the Angels are the REAL 2025 World Series Champions?
Enough smack talk though, as the Dodgers have been the better team since they got sold, something Angels fans long for. Who knows what MLB will look like then, as there may be a lockout next year and stuff may change due to that. Someday….
Anyway… today’s game was Jack of 1K vs a bullpen game for the Dodgers? Blake Snell has gone on the IL with an injury. Do not cry for them, Dodgers are so deep their AAA team could win the AL West. Jack went 6 innings, giving up 6 runs on 7 hits, striking out 4 and walking 2. 3 home runs doomed him.
Well, not to fear, Logan is here! And Logan is hurt again, COME ON! Yes, Logan O’Hoppe came back from the IL and got hurt trying to catch. He left mid way through the game.
Highlighted Recap
Defense was the name of the game today, at least for the Angels.
Nolan nabbed a hard hit ball in the 3rd, foreshadowing that there will be a LOT of hard hit balls by the Dodgers today.
Because while the first 3 innings were scoreless, Jack lost control in the 4th, leading to 2 on with no outs and a 3-0 count to the best player on the Dodgers
Well, that was bad but maybe-
Poor Jack. he finished the inning though, thanks to Oswald bailing him out.
The 5th was also scary, but defense stopped it from getting worse.
Twice
Jack stayed in there to give up another home run in the 6th.
The bullpen pitched a clean 8th and 9th, but the bats did not do anything, and the Dodgers bullpen shut out the Angels. Angels lose the first game of the Freeway Series, and will not sweep the Dodgers like last year.
Upcoming
2 more vs the Dodgers this weekend. Maybe they will go better?
Something called Jose Siri is our starting LF today.
Oh, and O’Hoppe is back.
I think he used to be an Astro.
yeah, Astros, Rays, Mets.
I know we don’t care about winning. Here are just some numbers for us playing at the Big A.
worst home hitting team in the league (.206) right now. 3rd least HRs hit at home (14), worst ops (.606), least amount of runs scores (61), least amount of hits (123) by 17 over the next team, 2nd worst obp (.290), worst slugging (.316)
Giving the home fans nothing to cheer for, save a few Adell webgems
Thanks for posting this. Yep, as a frequent game attendee there is very little to cheer about on the hitting/on-base side. At a point now where you hope for a lucky win with at least some offense to see, which is pathetic. If not for tailgating and dirt cheap tickets, I would stop going to games. I’m a jersey collector and have even thought about wearing the visiting team until this crap show changes.
Special K has reverted to Silent C(rap)
This lineup is anemic.
This team blows.
Looking forward to watching fights later. Netflix (Nate Diaz vs. Mike Perry is a total banger) and UFC (Card is mostly a dude, but Costa vs. Allen RIPS).
Oh, I’m going to char some animal flesh (BBQ), too.
Don’t let this shitty team get you down.
Lastly, I hope MNT hits a homer.
Pennywise and the Circle Jerks are playing at the Anaheim House of Blues tonight. Got my tickets. Won’t miss the Halo game one bit.
Hell yeah. Sing some Bro Hymn for me.
Nice show. I dig Pennywise.
The Angels have already used 23 pitchers this season. It’s beginning to look a line at the DMV. And only 117 games to go.
5-19 in our last 24 games with -51 run differential.
GM thinks our best ball is ahead of us and manager called this just a cold stretch.
I want to see this team lose 110 games. Show the world why this is the worst franchise in professional sports.
“Fine” dining. 🐀 💩
I’m checked-out-maxing at this point.
Watching the fights tonight? Diaz vs. Perry is going to rip.
I thought Perry was a bare knuckle boxer nowadays haha. Might be worth checking out
Barf + poop + barf. Two whole hits. Funtastic.
The good news is that, come July, we won’t have any idiot fans putting it in Arte’s head that this club and it’s fans deserves the chance to go for it and play meaningful blah blah.
Hell, if we were smart we’d trade Soriano to the Tigers for a huge pile of prospects this weekend.
I think the majority here outside of Frost agree that Soriano should be traded, but don’t trust Perry to handle it.
Nice to see you back
I’ve stated strongly that we should retain our ACE, but, I’m ready to capitulate.
This team BLOWS.
“if we were smart” is doing waaaaay to much heavy lifting here.
I agree. He’s our most valuable trade piece and by the time we can actually take advantage of him he will cost more money than we want to spend. He’s also an injury risk, and we do have pitchers on the way. Trade him for hitters. We need a 1B, a catcher, and corner OFs. Soriano is good enough to get someone to give up their future for today.
They played to their strengths tonight.
Sucks that Peraza’s sick defensive play is washed away by the beatdown.
Peraza is really growing on me. Kid is a baller. I don’t think he will ever be a superstar but I am starting to believe he’s a solid everyday starter. Perry can have a little credit for this one.
Grissom also looked good at third from what I saw of the game. I didn’t even realize he played there before tonight. Guzman will be there before August though.
Can we just DFA Moncada now? There is ZERO reason to give him any playing time in this forlorn campaign.
He may not ever be a superstar, but he has the potential to be a lot more than just a solid everyday starter. He is currently on pace to be a 4 WAR player this year should he maintain this level. Grissom is Schanuel with a better glove and greater positional flexibility. He made some great plays last night.
And Grissom.
I see that the Angels are again the worst in MLB at 16-29, a game behind Colorado. I don’t want to hear Suzuki’s press conference. I want to hear Perry’s.
It’s predicAble what they will say: essentially you can’t chase wins every game.
A couple times a week would be nice, though
We did good the bullpen did good
Agreed. This is a great team.
Suzuki is dumb. He looks like a fifteen old kid holding a press conference
I have been trying to support Suzuki, but he sounded absolutely clueless last night.
What is up with Erica’s new look
She’s just ready for her appearance at TJ’s Showgirls in Stanton.
Rocking that “versayce”.
the good: the green hats look nice
Zzzz
