It would have been cool if I could have seen Bremner pitch with my very own eyes. His stat line looks like “nervous young pitcher survives debut”. Teodosio and Paris. Messin with my emotions again…
I think “nervous young pitcher survives debut” is probably just about right.
He does need some development, and I hope the Angels have patience, because there’s rich diversity of pitches there, if he can learn to command his secondaries.
On draft day, I had the five collegiate first-round arms stack ranked Anderson, Arnold, Witherspoon, Bremner, Doyle. (All defensible selections, all clear Top 20 picks.)
We’ve seen Anderson, Arnold and Bremner debut now, and I’d keep that same stack ranking.
I fell for the Paris head fake last year. A small Spring sample size is hard to judge but has he has made any adjustments to diminish his horrendous contact issues? Is he still swinging thru a large amount of pitches? The box score is hard to decipher in that respect.
Also your Frazier pick to make the roster is looking better and better. CMo is struggling, albeit his EVs have been strong, and Grissom hurt his left hand
Frazier seemed like he’d make the team upon signing to me, absent a really bad spring.
Moore has some good underlying metrics (hard hit %, max EV), still very aggressive. But really needs time in the minors, I think.
Hopefully the booboo for Grissom can let them sneak him through waivers – I’d hate to see Isaiah Jackson traded for nothing – because I wouldn’t roster him over Frazier and Peraza at the moment.
His portfolio is great – but command across all of his pitches, save maybe his change, is the issue. I’d say FB and SL shape are also works in progress. Command was less of an issue in ’24, but was more so in ’25.
He was clearly trying to test his slider and cutter in this outing.
Yep – same. Want to see a dozen starts for the Pandas before I give an assessment.
Frankly, I’d like to see all of the First Round Five given a dozen starts in AA to start the season. By end of June, I think we’ll be able to suss out more.
I mean, the outcome was good, but the command was not. Even the third out – there wasn’t a single pitch remotely in the zone. Meidroth was his best matchup.
Throwing 99 is nice, but not if it’s a foot above the zone.
Meanwhile the middle of the A’s order has launched 5 HRs (from five different hitters, all active roster guys) in the first five innings.
West Sacramento’s offense has been firing on all cylinders over the past week or so, even with a slow spring from Kurtz. The pitching on the other hand is still very much a WIP.
Not Farris or Urena. Farris has gained FB velocity, but its impacting his command, and it’s still hittable. Urena too volatile and struggles with length, needs more seasoning.
I’d make it a contest between Klassen, Koch, and Sam down the stretch.
Makes sense. My question was also assuming that Caden Dana’s illness set him too far back and that Bremner is not ready. This is the Angels though so who knows their process.
I don’t think the Angels ever had any thoughts of Bremner being a candidate. He’s still working on slider and FB design. And Dana needs to demonstrate he can get MLB hitters out, even in a healthy context.
Manoah cost Minasian $2M this season. Zack Littell is costing the Nats $3M this year, $4M next. The latter would have come as a perfectly serviceable substitute for Tyler Anderson at a steeeeep discount.
Viva Italia!! (D@mmit Team USA!)
I didn’t expect I’d be watching Italy vs Mexico today but here I am
I’m rooting for both teams to advance so we can see more of Aldegheri and Natera
Alternatively we can also watch them in Tempe
I can’t because our games aren’t on TV haha! And it’s moot now anyways, Italy and USA will advance
Italia still has work to do. They still need to Win.
One more run from Italy (getting them to 4) means the USA advances no matter what else happens
USA advances!! 🇭🇺🇺🇸
And will play Canada 🇨🇦
right! Because 11 US runs given up are better than the 12 if Italy should lose now.
If Mexico somehow wins this game I think the U.S. takes 1st in the group
We might call that matchup “The Tariff Battle.”
It would have been cool if I could have seen Bremner pitch with my very own eyes. His stat line looks like “nervous young pitcher survives debut”. Teodosio and Paris. Messin with my emotions again…

The best we got is a side-ish angle view of his lone K on his Bugs Bunny change

Nice to see him credited with the Win too.
I fell for the Paris head fake last year. A small Spring sample size is hard to judge but has he has made any adjustments to diminish his horrendous contact issues? Is he still swinging thru a large amount of pitches? The box score is hard to decipher in that respect.
Did Brady Anderson slip Peraza some juice?? Another hard hit ball — 108 mph double — and rocking a 1.070 OPS
Peraza is making his case – he’s the better glove too. I don’t think Moore and Grissom have made theirs.
I know the org seems keen on Candelario, but I’m still skeptical. I’d probably opt for Paris over him.
Moore looks not ready at all. Grissom? WTF? I’ve always liked him but he looks like he forgot how to hit.
Your boy Teo continues to have a nice spring.
Paris had a nice day today, 2-3 with a BB, 2 runs scored, an RBI, and 3 stolen bases.
I know right! I have always sorta liked him as a prospect, but I had no idea he hit the ball that hard so regularly.
Is this the Bachman breakout year…?
It’s been a strong ST showing for him thus far!
Hope he stays healthy.
I’m fine with Bremner going only one today. Those walks upped his pitch count into the low 20s.
He stayed calm and responded well after walking the first two guys…
He rarely gets rattled – even in bad outings with the Gauchos.
Paris sure is nice in the springtime 🇫🇷🥖
Just not so nice on the basepaths!
What did he do haha? I see the 2 SBs
He got caught up twice on the BPs today, very close call on the return. Broadcast team noting it’s been dicey day for him on the basepaths.

Bremmyyyy !!!
Glad to see Bremner get outta those two walks. Seemed a little wild on GameDay. Anyone watching? How did the stuff look?
No video feeds currently available – audio, statcast basically.
Thanks
So far, as advertised, both of Bremner’s first two outs were on the change.
Yep. I liked his mix of pitches and changes of location in that inning. He didn’t over use the fastball.
His portfolio is great – but command across all of his pitches, save maybe his change, is the issue. I’d say FB and SL shape are also works in progress. Command was less of an issue in ’24, but was more so in ’25.
He was clearly trying to test his slider and cutter in this outing.
He looks like a great guy to send to AA. I don’t mean that in a bad way. Just, he could do a lot of good work with 20 starts in Alabama.
Yep – same. Want to see a dozen starts for the Pandas before I give an assessment.

Bremner on the mound!
FB at 97-99, but not locating anything. On three strikes among his first 11 thrown. Back to back walks.
I’d be nervous in my first outing
Nerves are a part of it, I’m sure.
Got a called strikeout on the change, his best pitch.
all in all, a good inning once he settled down
I mean, the outcome was good, but the command was not. Even the third out – there wasn’t a single pitch remotely in the zone. Meidroth was his best matchup.
Throwing 99 is nice, but not if it’s a foot above the zone.
That was likely a geeked up nervous 99mph. I doubt he throws that hard with control… but I’m also fine with 97MPH and control.
Meanwhile the middle of the A’s order has launched 5 HRs (from five different hitters, all active roster guys) in the first five innings.

Monoah can A-go-a. 👋
Yep…
Manoah just isn’t viable at the moment.
If he were to be out, who would you go with right now between Klassen, Kochanowicz, Farris, Urena & Aldegheri?
Not Farris or Urena. Farris has gained FB velocity, but its impacting his command, and it’s still hittable. Urena too volatile and struggles with length, needs more seasoning.

It’s a very shallow SP depth chart.
Manoah…

Wish I could watch this
