Who Could the Angels Sign with the Rendon Savings?

I had a little fun playing Perry at Angels on SI. Give it a read and comment down below.

Obviously this wouldn’t make us World Series contenders but it does show how much that albatross of a contract has hurt the team in recent years.

Not too far off from my weekend proposal, Jeff.

Littell, Bader, Andujar, Kopech. Andujar vs Moncada is sort of a wash.

Don’t spend the money. Keep the money.
Lower the prices for food and drinks.

We need too many good players at too many positions, in order to make the playoffs.
Angels management will need to spend at the level of the Dodgers in order to make the playoffs (sign Skubal, Bellinger, Tucker, Framber Valdez, Bichette, etc.).

So, just play the players we have, in addition to minor leaguers. Pray that they develop as they gain experience.

I predict that the Halos will play in 162 games in 2026.

I also predict that most Halo fans will be (Once again) horribly underwhelmed.

There just isn’t any rational reason to spend any money on the roster as currently constructed. This team is much worse than most of us are giving it credit for.

More “sell the team” articles and fewer “Arte spend money” articles please.

Is Keith Johnson a good manger… based on what Perry is doing, my guess is the following are in AAA.

Denzer, Moore, Rada, Lugo, Paris, Nicholsen, Madrigal, Dana, Klassen, Aldegheri, Ferris, Minaci. That’s a lot of the org’s youth right there. Last chance to be developed. That better be a winning ball club.

I thought I saw Johnson would be on Suzuki’s staff this year coaching in Anaheim.

Definitely like the idea of Zach Littell for 2 years and $24 million.

I don’t think Arte is spending that “savings”. If you think about it, he really only saved about $6mm (difference between $38mm and $31mm). However, he still has to pay the $31mm, just he pays it over 5 years now. So if you spend the $31mm now, then you have to reduce the next 4 years of budget by $7mm each year.

Even if assume that my math isn’t mathing, it wouldn’t surprise me that they don’t spend the money and blame it on the Fan Duel contract saying that they are losing millions and the savings from Rendon’s contract is going to offset some of the losses.

Hope I’m wrong though because we need the help

I have no problems with any of that.

I’m currently on board for Bader if they can somehow get him. I went back and forth on it, jt realized that the Halos really need 2 outfielders. Counting on Trout and Soler to handle the vast majority of the OF/DH work seems naive.

I genuinely wonder if Teo/Meckler could make a passable CF platoon for a year. Teo was almost passable against LHP last year and I would guess that Meckler does too. If they could provide elite defense (not sure about Meckler, but Teo’s defense is elite).

With the current state of the team, I’m also willing to let one of Grissom or Moore play an IF spot. They still need another one of course.

I like the Littell idea. That would be a good fit. I’m ok with the rest of it too, but I expect a bunch of holes this year.

Love it Jeff. I just think he’s gonna clip coupons this year.
