Today, did Kyle Hendricks get any run support? No. Not so much. Sorry! I don’t have much in the way of highlights today.
In the second inning, Luis Robert Jr. singled. Colson Montgomery sent him to third with a fly ball out. Kyle Teel singled to drive him home. 1-0 White Sox. So far the Angels did quite a bit of striking out. Three of the first six batters struck and nobody reached base safely.
For the bottom of the third inning, the Angels started mixing in some ground outs to keep everybody on their toes.
Zach Neto singled his second time up. Woo Hoo! He received a couple of pickoff attempts and was awarded second base on a disengagement violation. Nolan Schanuel walked. Taylor Ward chipped in the Angels’ fifth strikeout. Jo Adell lined out. Yoan Moncade contributed the sixth strikeout.
Luis Rengifo walked to become the only Angel to reach base in the bottom of the fifth inning.
In came Ryan Zeferjah to replace Kyle Hendricks. He was effective in the sixth, bring the Angels back up still down 1-0. They stayed that way.
Brock Burke came in to pitch the top of the seventh inning. He was all right. The score remained 1-0 White Sox. Jo Adell got us up to our eighth strikeout. There was a pitching change and then Oswald Peraza pinch hit for Yoan Moncada. He grounded out to short. Did Montgomery just throw in the towel? Logan O’Hoppe struck out to end the inning.
Reid Detmers in the eighth! He got through it without giving up a run. I’ve got nothing bad to say about the bullpen tonight. About the hitting: None in the bottom of the eighth.
Carson Fulmer came in to pitch in the non-save situation. He low-key non-saved it, bringing the Angels up in the bottom of the ninth still down 1-0. Neto ground out; Schanuel line out; and Ward Fly out. The Angels lost 1-0.
