Shutout Loss Postgame

Today, did Kyle Hendricks get any run support? No. Not so much. Sorry! I don’t have much in the way of highlights today.

In the second inning, Luis Robert Jr. singled. Colson Montgomery sent him to third with a fly ball out. Kyle Teel singled to drive him home. 1-0 White Sox. So far the Angels did quite a bit of striking out. Three of the first six batters struck and nobody reached base safely.

For the bottom of the third inning, the Angels started mixing in some ground outs to keep everybody on their toes.

Zach Neto singled his second time up. Woo Hoo! He received a couple of pickoff attempts and was awarded second base on a disengagement violation. Nolan Schanuel walked. Taylor Ward chipped in the Angels’ fifth strikeout. Jo Adell lined out. Yoan Moncade contributed the sixth strikeout.

Luis Rengifo walked to become the only Angel to reach base in the bottom of the fifth inning.

In came Ryan Zeferjah to replace Kyle Hendricks. He was effective in the sixth, bring the Angels back up still down 1-0. They stayed that way.

Brock Burke came in to pitch the top of the seventh inning. He was all right. The score remained 1-0 White Sox. Jo Adell got us up to our eighth strikeout. There was a pitching change and then Oswald Peraza pinch hit for Yoan Moncada. He grounded out to short. Did Montgomery just throw in the towel? Logan O’Hoppe struck out to end the inning.

Reid Detmers in the eighth! He got through it without giving up a run. I’ve got nothing bad to say about the bullpen tonight. About the hitting: None in the bottom of the eighth.

Carson Fulmer came in to pitch in the non-save situation. He low-key non-saved it, bringing the Angels up in the bottom of the ninth still down 1-0. Neto ground out; Schanuel line out; and Ward Fly out. The Angels lost 1-0.

Might as well count this game as a no-hitter since that single hit didn’t even leave the infield

Pathetic

But hey at least we didn’t hurt Taylor Ward’s feelings

The team will absolutely win some games when it no longer matters. They always do. However a winning streak against a team playing .370 ball is expected.

If you were actually paying attention and not peering through a hopium induced delusion, it was obvious that flailing after Perry’s impotence was on full display at the deadline was due to occur.

So embrace this. Wallow in it like a pig in fresh crap. Perry’s your daddy and will make all your boo-boos feel better.

We didn’t expect much from ’25, we got better than ’24. Of course, there was a low bar, but still.

Couldn’t we have become betterish by selling our free agents that had decent offers?

The last time the Angels had a winning August was 2017.

The last time they had a winning August AND September was 2014.

WHY DIDN’T THEY SELL?!?!!?!

The problem with selling is that you need someone who wants:
Rengifo (with a (-) WAR),
Taylor (despite his 25 HRs, often times stands and watches 3 strikes with RISP)
Moncada (injured too often)
Kenley (a liability with man on base, because the opponents can steal at will)
Anderson (who wants to take on the rest of this year’s $13M contract, for a pitcher who’s 2-7, with 4.49 ERA, who can’t get past 6 innings)
etc, etc.

If I were the GM, I sure as heck don’t want any of the above, unless I could give them a sack of beans in trades.

Gee, who would have thought that bringing on Oswald Peraza and actually pinch hitting him, would lead to failure. Ugggh. Perry, you may have figured out a way to make this team even worse than it was without improving the minors. That feat of imbecility is breath taking.

I’ve been semi-dark on the site lately.

Where the hell is Trout?

He was told he has a hang nail, 2 weeks and 2 aspirin. He’s run down being on pace for a hundred games played.

If you took the over of the Angels getting 2 hits tonight, you lost.

There is amazing young talent throughout mlb, including the A’s and Marlins, and getting there White Sox. Unfortunately not much in Anaheim.

…but remember that our Dominican High School team dominated the CIF league they play in, and that will surely translate to dominance at the Major League level in one or two years.

Two pretty bad losses…pretty….pretty bad. The MLS vs Liga MX tournament has been highly entertaining. Angels baseball? Not so much.

Looks like the A’s are headed for a loss so we can maintain our lead over last place

To make up for the two or three cookies he took for strikes earlier in the game.
